I love how emotionally aware they both are, Jess has grown and become more confident in from of the camera so much and they have grown together and in their marriage so much 🥺🥺 very proud supporter ❤
What Jess said about being an extrovert around introvert but being an introvert around extroverts was *SO* relatable to me
*All my introverted friends are like* "You are so outgoing! I could never."
*And then my extroverted friends are like*
"Did you just talk?! This whole time I thought you were mute."
Its just mild social anxiety not really introversion. I’ve had this issue too with being scared of taking calls but got over it through lots of exposure/practice
I think most people confuse extraversion or introversion with being shy or outgoing. They aren't actually the same thing! You can be an introvert but not shy, or you could be an extrovert and not outgoing.
Extraversion means you gain energy from being around others and being alone drains you. Introversion means that being around others drain your energy but being alone recharges you.
Someone once explained it like we all have a pot of gold. An Introvert fills their pot of gold when they are alone. Each time they meet someone, they give them a piece of gold. They need to go refill alone. An extrovert receives gold every time they meet someone and they put it in their pot. Their pot is full the more they interact with people. When alone, they unload their gold and need to go out to refill.
Please keep this podcast setup. Love the casualness of it… Gabe’s even sitting criss cross applesauce haha. Some podcasts are overproduced, imo. This is perfect

What happened to Gabe when he was depressed is the same thing that has happened to me (I've dealt with depression the past 3 years). I used to be so extroverted and now I am not only super introverted, but I feel I have lost my personality. It's been over 2 years and that feeling hasn't gone away. Thankful they can open up about stuff like this so I feel less alone. I just wish I could say I found my personality again like Gabe!
You might take each other for granted if you never get anytime apart. I think Jess has good energy.

The best friendships and relationships I've ever had was the introvert/extrovert mix. The introvert appreciates the outgoing nature of the extrovert, since they are willing to do the social heavy lifting. One on one, they two get along just fine. Extroverts and everyone need some alone time.
have you ever taken the myers & briggs personality test? that would be so interesting i’m curious what personality type you’d both get, maybe you could make a video on that! (or just include it in a video)

Okay, when Gabe talked about burnout and being emotionally overwhelmed to the point of acting more introverted, it was like he was talking about the past few years if my life. When I was fifteen/sixteen I hit a place of becoming easily overwhelmed, and started to guard my emotional energy more closely. Even to this day this guarding of emotional energy or maybe it's a sort of "learned" introversion, it still lingers with me. I screenshotted that book that he mentioned, I hope to one day be in an even more healthy place where my personality feels more free to breathe again. 🌱 I'm thankful for the Contes' openness and the pieces of their stories that they are generously sharing with us. Thank you Jess and Gabe ✨🧡

My husband and I got married the same time as you guys did, and we don't have many people that are our age that are married (were 25!) so watching you guys walk the journey and go through the same things have been SO comforting! :)
I’m introverted but most people think I’m extroverted because I’m not shy. I’m in college and in class I participate a lot but if I’m not in class I’m alone. Also in general I never feel afraid to say what I believe in. I only hang out with people like once a month or maybe twice a month. I normally am just sitting in my car for hours reading books because that’s my quiet place where I can be alone.
I'm not depressed, but I am coming out of a time of stress and emotional drain in my life and I felt really identified when Gabe talked about feeling like he was getting his personality back after his depression. I had almost forgotten how cheerful I used to feel all the time.

Jess what you said about how you fully get your personality in Australia really resonated with me. I am American living in Australia and for the first 1.5 years I was here I felt like I was barely myself, I have finally made friends that I feel like I can be myself around. Moving to another country is so hard but love watching you navigate it as I do too :)

gabe i literally went to the movies by myself recently and my whole family was like “is there anyone you can invite” and i was like no i want to go by myself. it was the best and i def recommend it
I never felt more on the same page with Jess than now 😂 the “thinking I should look away” thing with eye contact is so true. I’m like wow I’m staring at them too long. And then you start thinking I’m focusing on eye contact I’m not even listening to what they are saying 😂😂
I'm the same with eye contact Jess, after a while I feel like they're gonna think I'm weird for keeping eye contact too long hahaha

great podcast! I am closer to Jess in terms of personality and definitely enjoy the friends who are also, as I would term, calm (though probably, overall, not extremely extroverted if they scored on these tests, I'm assuming). Working in healthcare and being around people is something that is rewarding and I enjoy working with the team I do AND definitely need time at home to re-charge. Great discussion! Great couple! Love you guys!

Their relationship seemed weird to me, I stopped watching their videos even, sometimes went back to their old videos to watch the old gabe and Jess, until I realized that their relationship is just following it’s natural course. From the mushy mushy couple to now more grown up responsible couple. The change is massive.
