I would recommend bringing the mattress of her cot up higher, makes it easier to put her down/pick her up while she’s so little and then gradually lower the mattress the bigger she grows :) so excited for you guys

I had my baby at 33 weeks right after my baby shower in December 😂😂 We had nothing set up, not even furniture ordered because we thought we still had another 2 months. Sooo everything got set up when our baby was about 6 weeks ☺️ It all worked out!! Excited for you both 💕

Love the baby room! So excited for you guys. Also amazes me that you guys are in shorts in aussie winter cause it’s cold in melbs. Qld must have a sunnier winter which I’m jealous.
Btw not sure if there’s a space between the cot and the wall with the frame but I’ve been advice to not hang any thing directly above a cot in case it falls into the cot, so passing that info on to you guys too.

life is about to change and never be the same for you two! but oh the special moments that are in your future. As a mom of two (6 & 4) the biggest piece of wisdom I can give isn’t sleep when the baby sleeps, it’s to listen to your body. Jess, I had pretty bad post partum depression and if I could go back and talk to my self after having my first child I would have told myself to rest and just be with my daughter. I was very active pre-motherhood (trail runner and business owner etc) and I struggled to slow down. I regret not getting a doula and allowing myself to relish and bask in the 4th trimester. I still look back today and wish I would have been more of an advocate for myself and what I needed. breast feeding also didn’t go well for me. I am just now coming to the realization my children may have had tongue ties but not one nurse or pediatrician checked. I grieve my short bf journey still to this day. I am just passing this all along because no one told me. everyone romanticized motherhood. I have no idea what you all will experience as you embark on this anew season but I hope whatever it looks like you’ll be honest with yourself and your support system. I don’t mean that is the way that your aren’t honest, I mean it’s hard to be in need of so much and have this new precious life depending on you, solely (with God). It’s beautiful and scary and that’s okay. that’s what I learned. I had women in my life who I couldn’t share the messy with. I feel like it’s my calling now to share my story so other mothers (and fathers) don’t think their are alone. 🌷💛

The room is sooo sweet! So excited for you guys. Just so you know baby’s crib or bassinet should be at least 3 feet from a window and 1 foot from any other furniture. I am a huge advocate for safe sleep so always wanting to educate in case somebody doesn’t know or somebody is scrolling the comments. :) The wifi cord basket is awesome!!
Why 3 feet from the window?
@@Jess-ee5gt A few reasons! In the rare case of a window breaking it puts it at a safer distance. This could be from something hitting it or even weather changing could cause something like a window to shatter. Also in the event of an emergency and perhaps needing to break and escape through the window. Also blinds and cords can be a strangulation hazard for babies and toddlers.

I’m surprised you aren’t planning to co-sleep/bed share. It’s so natural after baby has been sleeping cuddled inside mama for 9 months and makes nursing and sleeping in the beginning so much easier. A Snuggle Me Organic baby pillow or Dock a Tot works perfect to make a bumper if you’re worried about that. Just from a mum of almost 3. Blessings to you all ❤️
@Noel yep but this makes night feeding/wake up easier and baby sleep deeper and more content. It’s the way our ancestors did it before fear and propaganda ❤️
@Noel take your own advice ❤️ I never judged them or forced anything down their throats. But sharing from experience is what my elders also did for me and it helped tremendously and continues to do so. Learning from each other is enriching

God's timing is definitely not ours sometimes lol ... I was just 34 - 35 weeks pregnant. Watching on television the kids movie Flushed. I went to the toilet and all I saw was blood. My child was okay. It was a tear in the placenta or something but he did have to be induced. Ironically, there was no warning signs in the lead up. All I can say is ..irrespective of the fact that most women go to 38 + weeks. Always have things packed and ready as God's time is not ours. My son Koby is now 12 and is over 5" 5. His brother is 6"3 and they have cousins who are 6"6 or 6"7. So there has been no negative outcome to his premature birth. He was too young to have the sucking reflex so I was not able to breast feed. But I did pump and things have been wonderful. God's path for you Jess and Gabe will be perfect.. We just continue to live in accordance to His commandments and by doing that we remain under the protection of God. God bless you all. Welcome back to the awesome Australia.. xx
