Well… I didn't expect I'd be making this video. But I'm certainly not alone in this experience. I'm getting better, and I'm glad to be able to share what I've learned about Omicron in case it might help you or someone you know.
Hit me up on Twitter or Instagram if you've got questions: @DrJoeHanson @okaytobesmart
Just got covid aswell, sitting in isolation, so this video is perfect timing!
Your symptoms are not typical of Omicron, methinks you need to stop telling lies and or making completely unsupported claims. Also keep in mind that you are promoting a medical product that _has_ killed people, did you think that the indemnities that were handed out extend to private individuals or the media? You would be wrong, get some legal advice.
@@nikosu5912 Same, I got it to. It stinks, Hope everyone gets better.
You are preaching to the choir here. The people who need to hear this message are most definitely NOT watching science programming by PBS
No, they are all watching communist sympathizer and world renowned virologist Tucker Carlson.
We're all doomed.
I've not had any jabs and have just had omicron. Felt like a slight cold.
So for me the whole thing paid off nicely 👌 didn't risk taking the Jabs and got a mild case of covid that by most accounts stops you getting the worst one's in yhe future
Take care and get well soon. You still manage to make us laugh in the middle of your tough times.
*cough times.
Sorry.
what tough time?
I was thinking the same. How revealing of his character it is that he's still willing to go to the effort of making videos for us fans, ultimately for the sake of spreading knowledge, which I personally respect the hell out of anyone who spreads knowledge. So long as it's scientifically accurate knowledge and not astrology or something. So for him to still to pursue his obvious passion for learning and teaching despite how crumby he probably feels shows some real dedication. Not just to us, but to science as well. What more can I say? The man's a legend. Even though I already have, here's wishing him a fast and uneventful recovery!
why didn’t i get people saying this to me when i got omicron…
@@soragranda haha
My Dad caught COVID in March 2020 and end up in an induced coma, on a ventilator. He already had Diverticulitis and Chron's and went into to respiratory failure twice. They didn't think he had any hope of survival but they just constantly pumped him with antibiotic after antibiotic, anti-androgens, vitamins and a cocktail of everything they could think of and he survived but... It's almost 2 years down the line and the long COVID is still very much an issue.
Apparently, that can last for a lot longer than several months. It's messed with his nerves, his heart and other organ functions. His blood circulation is a mess and he has a lot of muscle and joint pain, now, as well as brain fog and headaches, etc... He isn't the same anymore.
He went into hospital with some colour in his hair and beard but came out and his hair colour has just totally gone. It literally seems like COVID sucked a lot of life out of him.
I hope your dad can gain some sense of normality eventually ☹️ I have Crohn's and asthma and I'm prone to bronchial infections. Pre-vaccine it felt guaranteed that I would die if I got Covid. Now that I'm boosted I'm constantly worried about the potential impact and internal damage of long Covid+Crohn's 😨
It appenens the same at my teacher of the elementary school. Now she has muscle problems and she has respiratory problems
I understand.
My late friend and former neighbor had a similar path with Covid. Caught it Jan 2021. In an induced coma & vent for almost 2 months. Pumped full of drugs and steroids to keep him alive.
Had kidney failure and needed a transplant. Got the transplant, but died a few weeks later. This all took 6-7 months...
He was mid 30's with a wife and 4 kids.
I am not a doctor, but what I have understood is that severe covid unleashes a massive, gargantuan inflammation of many tissues everywhere in the body (brain, lungs, etc.). That is bound to wreak some havok and your dad will need time.
hope he makes a complete recovery soon.
Very well presented! Wish you a speedy recovery!
Wonderful video. Had to rewatch it to keep my spirits up!
My fiancee had a vicious sore throat. I ended up in the ER with blue fingers, struggling to breathe. Same exact strain, 1 week apart. You can't assume you'll know how it'll affect your body ahead of time.
Be well!
Be well
Same strain? How can you be sure? Was genetic sequencing done? With Omicron it would likely have been 2 or 3 days, not a week.
Are you vaccinated?
i doubt it was Omnicorn
Thank You. Hope you are strong and healthy. You've helped me so much. I tested positive last Sunday, June 5, 2022. Everything you've said I've had the exact same thing. I thought I was invincible. Everyone around me was falling to omicron. I, however remained strong and virus free. Then I was hit. The might oak has fallen! I'm still testing positive. And still have that cold type feeling in my head. Hoping to test negative tomorrow.
I’m in the same boat as you, I hope we’re both negative this weekend
You got this!
I work as a healthcare professional. I had two co-workers that were tested positive for covid and were out for at least four days until they were RTW (day 5). Stay optimistic. You got this.
@Blaze Blaze Vaxxed to the max!
The fact that you made this while sick with the same thing I have is absolutely mind-blowing.

I'm selling boosters second hand.
This is a very powerful statement from Joe. Seeing him stripped of the usual slick, glossy production and jokes, just a sick man staring into a camera, obviously uncomfortable and emotional. It says a lot by showing a personal side. Hopefully he has a full recovery and that we can all get out the other side sooner rather than later.
I used to brag that I never caught the flu or a cold. Then I got Covid. Because my body had never experienced being ill it went into a high level of inflammation. This made me so much more ill than I ever could have expected. Essentially my doctor told me that because I was 'so' healthy that is why I got so sick. I was so sure that I could breeze through this illness and I've never been more wrong. I am vaccinated.
People give this "being healthy" thing too much credit
Sounds like the Spanish Flu
An virtual infection once in a while isn't so bad. Do you get annual vaccinations?

I'm a full-time substitute teacher and am working my way through a rough time with Omicron. Despite having every symptom in the book, I continue to test negative. I lost my sense of taste and smell as well. Vaccinated, boosted twice => sick gal. I caught it 1 month after my second booster. I can't imagine if I hadn't been vaccinated because I came so close to going to the hospital. Your description of your symptoms mirrors mine. The cough, even after two weeks is exhausting. It started off with an aggressive and painful sore throat that made it very difficult to swallow. It wasn't just at the back of my throat, it was lower right down to my larynx. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. You don't want this. I didn't want this and avoided it for 2.5 years until I had to go back to work due to financial reasons.
If you're testing negative for Covid then it's just what the vaccine itself has done to destroy your immune system. Research remedies ASAP.
I am dealing with covid ATM, day 4 and I'm struggling. I've had 3 shots (PPM) and I've managed to dodge it for so long. It started with a scratchy throat and so I swabbed myself, and to my utter surprise, I was positive. No other symptoms, feeling absolutely great. That night, whole different story. Raging temperature, headaches like I've never had before, sweats, chills, aching bones and joints. I'm pretty sure at one point, I was delirious. This last for 2 days straight, and the fatigue, it's debilitating. I couldn't even move without being in pain all over. Currently, I'm really weak still and I'm developing a chest infection. I can feel it. I can't speak without coughing or being short of breath. I can't imagine if this is "less severely", how delta was like. Stay safe everyone!!!
Also lost my sense of taste and smell, and I suddenly can't tolerate meat. I had this rotten meat taste/smell in my mouth despite not being able to taste and smell everything else. I am a huge meat eater. Very unfortunate.
You can't be sure it's Omicron. Mutations overlap with the prior strain.
Also I had some variant last week. Symptoms progressing the same as you describe.
Hydroxychloroquine wiped it out. The muscle/ joint pain was gone upon awakening after only 2 doses. During the next day all the others symptoms subsided.
I have it right now. I'm currently coughing my head off at the moment... 🥺 Been completely fatigued, but luckily no more fever 🤒 So ready to be well. I cannot imagine what this would be like unvaccinated...
I hope you're feeling much better! And I hope you received some physician care. ❤
@@katherineker7595 Hi, an unvaccinated person here currently going through COVID. Yes, I have a cough but I've definitely had more severe coughs than this before. No fatigue, bouts of dizziness the first two days and now almost gone, my throat is thankfully perfectly fine so no soreness. Had an average fever for the first two days, now completely gone. The headache lasted for two days as well and was by far the worst symptom. In other words, I'm doing fine after a few days of being ill, only coughing atm. Reading how sick vaccinated people have been makes me grateful that I never took any of those jabs!
I hope you feel better, I also lost my taste and smell. It sucks but it took about a week and my smell is back and taste is coming back slowly. It is weird not being able to taste at all. I wasnt hungry at all but I ate soup mostly just not to hungry. Good note I wasn't eating to much but drinking alot of water. Good luck
I just got it too. Good luck in recovery, man

I'm 26, caught Omicron about 12 days ago, and I'm thankful my symptoms weren't as severe as Joe's. I had what seemed like a cold, my lungs weren't ever in pain. My fever never went above 99.9. My habits haven't been the healthiest, but I've recently made an effort to boost my overall health. Cutting back on alcohol, taking vitamins, getting more sleep, exercising more regularly--I failed at the last two LOL. Either the virus or excessive vitamin intake also affected my digestive system, both appetite and what comes after. Haven't weighed myself yet, but it looks like I lost a little weight from only eating once or twice a day for a week.
I have covid right now. My fever went up to 103 F. I am really struggling
Only take vitamins if you have a vitamin defficiency, any other situation when you take it it does absolutely nothing
I’ve been vaxed 3 times and Was due for the boost. My whole family got covid. I’ve been so sick. This cough is terrible.
I had covid at the start of the month. Everything Joe's going through is familiar, but I'm most concerned by the "Covid brain," which Joe described as the inability to focus on anything for more than 2.7 seconds. I've found that the difficulty concentrating has lingered for a couple weeks even after the rest of my symptoms have cleared. It's annoying, and a little worrying. It's definitely made me a little less productive.
Don't worry focus will come ba-- OH LOOK A SQUIRREL!!

I never got a fever and it just felt like I had a bad head cold, while my mom was intubated at the hospital for a week. Just shows how unpredictable this virus is. I am still thankful we were vaxed because my mom survived COVID and was only intubated for a couple of days and I felt better by day 5.
By any chance does your mom have underlying conditions like asthma, heart conditions, or anything else that you don't have?
Underlying causes play the biggest factor

Before Omicron 95% of the UK population had antibodies. Now 97.5% have antibodies. That means that only 2.5% had no protection whatsoever.
Omicron is only less severe in that 95% of the population. What about the 2.5% who had no protection? I bet that in them, Omicron is significantly more severe than Delta. Otherwise, we wouldn’t see the hospitalization numbers that we’re seeing.
Get better soon Joe!
My daughter got it from daycare. Hubby was + but no symptoms, my daughter and I got sinus cold symptoms. Took is almost a month before the last mucus symptom went away.
Hubby and I are fully vaccinated, daughter is too young.
Were in Ontario Canada, premier told everyone to just stay home and isolate 5-10days. No reporting.
I have a 79 year old friend who tested positive this week for Covid and is pretty sick. He has been vaccinated and boosted, but he is also on Prednisone for other health problems, which reduces immunity.. He wore N95 masks whenever he went out EXCEPT when he ate out in restaurants. Two days after he ate at a local small cafe, he became sick with fever, sore throat and severe cough. He is so frustrated that after over 2 years of being very careful, he got the virus. However, you cannot wear a mask when you eat out and that is where a lot of people are picking up the virus. May be better to order in rather than eating out right now. He is on the anti-viral meds and it seems to be helping but it is slow. Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope you feel better soon!
I just got tested positive with covid this past Friday 05/06/2022. This is my second time getting this virus but this time hit me hard. It’s been 5 days and i feel exhausted. So much better but still with little bit of sore throat. The fever broke after third day, Sunday morning. This virus is no joke guys! Stay safe!
exact same thing happened to me, down to the day wow! the exhaustion really does suck, hopefully it passes soon. get well man
Tested positive Sunday
Been in bed since! Had Covid aug 2021. And this is by far wayyyyy worst.
This virus is slightly different than the other viruses we all have gotten for decades.
...lol
Me too day 4 was the worst.
I'm 18, healthy, eat decently and sleep 8-9h a night. I have no pre-existing conditions. I am vaccinated but not boosted. When I caught omnicron it started off like a normal cold. I isolated to not infect others and I was pretty happy. After the first 2 days of developing symptoms I had these insane fever dreams. I would wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. Despite this I felt extremely cold and my chest felt like I got body slammed onto concrete. I'm glad it only lasted a week but it was the worse week of my life. Definitely getting boosted now.
A booster after omicron is not only pointless, it's actually dangerous if you have it within 3 months.
Your body is still "traumatized" from the illness, and you can get REALLY SICK from the vaccine!
(aka antibodies go "omg, guys, it's HIM again!!" and over-respond like maniacs)
Getting Boosted is a good idea as long as you are no longer experiencing any symptoms.
My experience was practically the same as yours except the chest thing. I didn't gave that. Was shivering for 2 days then was tired for another 3...... also I'm not vaccinated. Don't understand why people are going so crazy about it. Its not nice but definitely manageable.

I contracted Covid in August of 2021. The doctor that told me the news gave me a very low chance of survival. I had just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 3 months prior, obese, and unvaccinated. He told me good luck and to possibly get my affairs in order. I went home, opened my bottle of whiskey, and ordered tacos through doordash. I came down with fever, might swears, and an awful cough that seemed to go on for hours. I lost my sense of smell and taste. I didn't die. My symptoms went away after a week except my taste and smell, that took 8 months almost.
So your obesity was actually the problem.
You sir are a walking miracle. Check your health!!!
That was a very irresponsible doctor to say that. Yes, being unvaccinated, obese and diabetic would increase your risk of a severe manifestation of the disease but even then, the chance of death is still low. I don’t know if the doctor was trying to scare you into action but it is ethically wrong for a doctor to outright lie to a patient, whatever the motive.
Thank you so much for this video. I tested positive yesterday for the omicron variant I have a sore throat extreme fatigue bodyaches headache and just overall tiredness. Was vaccinated and boosted and I had Covid last year. Immunity doesn’t last long I guess. It’s so good to hear this important information you’re putting out there. I hope you get well soon and have really mild symptoms.!!

Thank you for this video. Learned alot here. I have the same thoughts. I just got over it. 🙌🏽
No shots no covid for my friends and I.
This is one of the best videos on the topic I've seen. You have a fair and balance view and approach to the topic, and it really feels like a video that would help people who are against vaccination understand and maybe even come around to changing their minds. Hope you feel better soon!
As a 19 y/o unvaccinated guy who has got covid twice, one recently (which might be omicron), I can tell that the new variant is way weaker than the previous one. However it caused a severe headache and a fever of 101, it only lasted one day and one night. But when I was infected earlier the fever was more severe and it lasted for 3 to 4 days.
P. S. I'm unvaccinated because in my country, there aren't enough vaccines but now it is slowly being adequate. I really envy people of developed countries who get the vaccines earliest and also the one which is most effective. And I wonder why some privileged people still refuse to be vaccinated.
Edit: I got the vaccine.
It might have been less severe because you had partial immunity thanks to the first infection. It really is impossible to draw conclusions from just one case.
Take care, and I do hope everyone gets access to vaccination quickly. That was one of the blunders when the vaccine became available - not spreading it fairly. And it came back to bite us with Omicron...
Well there's defenintely a lot of controversial information out there. I think for most people that's a big reason why they aren't getting vaccinated (They just don't know who to trust). Also there is ton of stories about very nasty side-effects. Now I don't want to discourage anyone from getting the vaccine, just trying to give a little insight on why some people chose not to be vaccinated.
I am however sorry to hear that you are unable to get a vaccine while you do want one❤️
@@nerenax2132 The negative side effects are usually because the needle hasn't been aspirated to make sure they are only injecting into the muscle and not directly into a blood vessel. They've also been exaggerated by those with an agenda, when in reality, there's far more risk in getting the disease than the vaccination, so it's about probabilities. Anti-vaxxers are idiots, because we've been using vaccinations since Dr. Edward Jenner discovered this medical practice 200 years ago. Vaccinations have saved millions of people from a plethora of diseases. So get vaxxed!
I can't understand why people wouldn't trust a doctor over some doubts spreaded in onlineforums and get vaccinated either. But i would give up my booster in a heartbeat if i'd know that it would be used to vaccinate others who need it more around the world. I am not certain, therefore i'll still get it to at least lower the numbers around here, but i think this is a huge injustice we need to tackle together in the future, so that we will all be better off for future pandemics, especially as we will only get better at that together.
I am quite certain what Pelikan said about partial immunity will have affected your less symptomatic infection this time as B- and T-Cell-immunity is less affected by changes on the spikeprotein, but probably also the variant is less symptomatic.
For now i'd like to thank you that you shared your experiance with omikron and your position on the vaccinationdebate. I hope there'll be more vaccines available asap.
And on a side note: read _Immune_ by Philipp Dettmer. It's the best book ever, whether you've studied biochemistry and immunology at university level, or are "only" interested in science in general. I cannot recommend this book enough.
Interesting and informative. Many thanks.
When me and my sister decided to get the booster shot our 1 year old brother got infected with Covid and we all got it. It was the worst thing that we’ve ever got. Our immunity now is so weak, I don’t know if it’s from Covid but before getting it we didn’t get sick but now, we’re always sick and it’s so annoying. I really don’t wish Covid upon my greatest enemies
Sorry to hear your family is struggling with the virus. It looks like in time everyone will be infected. No one knows how this will play out. Doctors and scientists only have historical records of past to make educated guesses about SARS CoV-2. With people traveling frequently, the number of people in the world today and the constantly changing virus, no one knows how this will play out. But science is working to save lives and protect our health. To find our way in this new world, we need to be smart about exposure, masking and staying vaccinated. We can go on enjoying our lives. Hope you feel 100% soon. 😉💖👍

Hugs, Joe. So sorry you are going through this. I have HIV and constantly on guard. Everyone in my family has had it except me... And I live in Chicago! Thanks for posting this even though you aren't feeling well. Take care of yourself.
I wish you health and happiness. Take care and be safe.
Same, I have a mutation that makes it more likely to get bloodclots, an autoimmune disease and ashtma, and I'm terrified of getting sick. I rarely get any sicknesses and most in my family have already had Covid(thankfully I live in the middle of nowhere). I hope you stay healthy❤
Stay safe
I do hope that your family has rallied around you (figuratively speaking!!!) in support of you and in guarding you so that you don't get sick! Hope you stay safe.
Good luck Danny. Im glad the meds for HIV have improved so much over the years.
I was diagnosed with it 4 days ago. I am also vaccinated, but it caught me and hit me like a truck this past week. Not sure which strain got me, but I'm assuming Omichron. I almost went to the hospital, but I did all that I could to avoid it so that I could remain isolated away from other illnesses and hopefully slow the spread as much as I could. I finally broke the fever after 3 days, and I had nightmares where I was suffocating. I woke up not breathing more than one time in the first 3 days, but luckily by day 4 those symptoms calmed down tremendously. I just hope that I'm able to recover as much as possible to repair the tissue damage. Today is technically day 5, so I'm glad to have had a 2 day reprieve from the fever and a 1 day reprieve from the fatigue.
he is crazy...israel studied the booster and said 4th isnt even effective.
I hope all is so much better now. The way is hits different people seems so arbitrary!
My positive test was about 4-5? Days ago it’s weird I kinda lost track of time already. I had dreams of being suffocated by my sweater like it was a snake the first or second night
@@SuperJlonergan before spreading missinformation, read it well, they said the 4th it's PROBABLY LESS EFFECTIVE ON OMICRON, they never said it's "not even efffective", and it has also to do wiht how infectious it is, which they also said, btw they are preliminary studies and they are just assuming "is probably not enough for Omicron" because of how much antibodies the vaccine produces as a result. Because missinformed people like you, the pandemic will take way longer than it should have taken.
Exactly the same for me! I'm healthy, vaccinated but sadly no booster yet. Got it without realizing I got it (thought I got the flu), got it from my family who was already sick when I came back from staying somewhere (got mad when they didnt tell me they were sick).
Anyways,
I had 3 and a half days with constant fevers that would only go down for an hour if I took medicine... but then come back after that hour. It was absolutely horrible, I literally started school during that week too. I hated when my dad said after he got it, that it was a piece of cake and dont know why people worry about it so much, because I got it so horrible those 3 days
I'm vaxxed and just found out yesterday that I've got covid, and not only that but it wasn't because of MY carelessness, it was someone else in my life. So annoying.
The same thing happened to me. I have it now even though I have always been super careful... thanks to my husband's carelessness.
I’m on day 5 and my guy brought this home to our family. He said “Sorry” as I wonder if my breathing is off.
Thank you!
Get well soon, Joe. I’m so sad you got sick. I wish you didn’t have to go through this, but thank you for turning your personal experience with Omicron into yet another great educational video. You are truly amazing, it’s always interesting and entertaining to watch your videos. Stay curious!
My daughter has long covid, when she got it it was quite mild, however, she is still suffering from fatigue 14 months later. It's still quite debilitating.
And it messes with your menstrual cycle too unfortunately 😔 😕

Funny how this came up on my feed. I’m fighting this beast of a bug now . Thx for video . Be well. Xo
Very informative and entertaining !
So sorry you're sick, Joe! Thanks for this information, it actually answered some questions I had. I have a feeling that in the not so distant future, everyone will have had covid and either lived through it or not, but I hope to hold out as long as possible. So grateful for vaccines!
The important question, which I have not seen brought up in any coverage of the Omicron variant, is whether or not Omicron provides any specific immunity to other variants of the SARS-CoV2 virus. If so, it might be a good thing. If Omicron can outpace the others and provide a degree of immunity, it might help to isolate the more virulent strains.
Edit: and then you bring up exactly that idea at 14:01. Thanks Joe. :-)
That question was brought up a few weeks ago on an episode of New York Times' The Daily podcast with one of their infections disease reporters. According to him, the data at the time seemed to suggest that a Delta infection didn't provide much protection against Omicron, but an Omicron infection did seem to provide a good deal of immunity to Delta. Of course, it was still very early and there wasn't much data, as is still the case, really. But apparently there is some hope in that regard.
Dr John Campbell (PhD in Nursing) has a fantastic channel. He is a good science communicator who is very up to date on most all recent studies and releases from medical agencies.
He has done a video about the initial studies conducted in South Africa, which are suggesting that immunity towards other variations is strong.
He does a daily talk and also interviews various experts.
Omicron on the surface seems like a good thing. Think like a virus. What does a virus want to do? It wants to replicate. High transmission keeps the virus going. If there is a quick and high death rate with lots of symptoms (think Ebola), then the virus can't spread rapidly as the hosts will simply die too fast to keep the transmission going, and it will flame out. Being highly infectious with milder symptoms is a win for the virus, but it's also a win for us as death rates will continue to drop even as infections continue to go up.
They don’t want you to know that, they love cov
@@citrustaco You're not wrong, and i agree, but a virus is not a living organism, it's more like a pocket of DNA/RNA that the host replicate to make it spread. This is the difference between a bacteria (living one-cell organism) and a virus
Unvaccinated and I had omicron last December. Worst was the headache but I got better within two weeks and I was prescribed ivermectin for 10 days.
I was just diagnosed on Sunday for the first time. It feels surreal to have the same sickness that took my big sister in October. My symptoms are cold-like. Hers almost immediately became pneumonia. Why? She was a germaphobe. Always used hand sanitizer. Always cleaned her grocery cart. No illnesses. I rarely use sanitizer. I never clean my cart. I have diabetes, and I'm a smoker. Why did it attack her the way it did? And why not me? 😔
bc exposing yourself to bacteria builds up a better tolarence to them in most cases and builds immunity.
I’m glad you’re doing ok and I’m very sorry for the loss of your sister.
Right there with ya brother. Fully vaccinated and boosted and caught covid. It was very mild though. Barely even felt sick
sa me
Same. Apart from the vaccines bit.
Thank you so much for mentioning long covid and imunocompromised people. It would be great to see a video about what people with long covid are experiencing, because I think a lot of people don't realise the severity of it. It would also be great to learn about the connect of long covid with ME/CFS, especially cases that are thought to be caused by other SAARS viruses. Great video, hope you feel better really soon ❤
I tested positive in January after taking the PCR test I was required to take after flying back from Spain at new year. I hardly had no symptoms and never felt better so I would never have known I had a thing because I would never have taken that test under normal circumstances. My husband never caught it from me, in fact he very rarely gets colds and has never had flu in his life.
Certain ppl don't get it because they produce sufficient interferon
you did a better job of talking about it than most experts.
Long hauler here, got sick for the first time in 2020 and battled for months after with long haul symptoms, mainly cognitive/neurological, never fully recovered (I’d say I was only back to a generous 85% back to my PRE Covid self) and then got sick again mid January despite all my efforts to be safe, eat healthy and look after my body. Not even 2 days after “beating” the infection, all my symptoms from the first round of long haul came back. I’m tired, I’m very tired. I don’t suppose I’ll ever get back to my pre-Covid self, some of these symptoms might get worse like my low frequency hearing loss, and loss of cognitive skills but hopefully in time we can finally leave this behind and who knows, maybe the universe will decide to give me, and everyone who like never quite recovered from this virus, a gift in the form of healing.
Just take care of yourselves y’all, long Covid is no joke.
As you are not alone in suffering from "long Covid," I wonder what measures our society & government will take to help people who have found their lives changed forever....
I had the Omicron, it was like having a cold and a flu at the same time. Ironically got it from Shoppers Drug Mart, they think its a good idea to have the lineup to pick up prescriptions be the same line for Covid tests.
The only thing is that it's more contagious and we are often confused about it, with the common cold and fever but proper medication at times help to ease.
Anyway be careful and stay healthy
im 66 fully boosted and vaccinated...went on a cruise and got omicon...for me it was no more then a moderate cold....very tired but no fever no aches just couphing and nasal stuff..after ten days still positive with mild sinus issues..but feel much better...your video was very helpful.
Sorry you contracted CoVid. You are amazing with a sense of humor despite suffering from this pandemic! A magnanimous deed to despite your illness create this great sharing. You inspired me. I'm 68 and got CoVid19 on 11-3-20, consider my case moderate, no respiratory, tested positive on 13th day isolating, so I isolated 7 more days. Had the J&J on 3-6-21, got Moderna booster 11-11-21, got I think Omicron 2-5-22. I was tested positive and they just said I had the virus but not if it was omicron or not. If I had Omicron it was serious. I lost 80% of my muscle strength for 2 days including bladder control. I fell and it took at least 1/2 hour to get on my feet and change my clothes with loss of bladder control. That persisted for 2 days, then it was general weakness and moderate for about 4 more days. Normally I sleep with a mattress on the floor, but with Omicron I slept on my couch as it was higher and easier to get up, but it still took me 20 minutes to get off my couch for those 2 days. I used a 4 legged cane to help me stand and keep my balance. I don't know if that info helps anyone, but that's what happened to me. I feel it effected my memory some. I think my heart is fine. Yesterday I awoke with body ache very weak, nausea, seemed just like I had CoVid. I got better throughout the day and went grocery shopping by bicycle, but then was very tired, more than normal. Today slept most of the day then suddenly had good energy and rode my bike for 3 hours mainly after dark. I'm just hoping I don't have that permanent CoVid some get. I'm not sure what to do for vaccines at this point as I don't think right now they have one for a person in my category. Does anyone know? Again Be Smart so gracious of you to create this video!
Thanx for this! And thank you for all that you do!
I just found out on the same day that you released this video that I am covid+ too and i am vaccinated and boosted too. I am thankful for this video, because I kept asking myself all those questions. Overall it sucks to be sick. I hope you feel better and get well soon
I am unvaxinated and haven’t been sick during this whole pandemic. I feel great, and healthy as a hawk flying around a lake eyeing her next meal :) hope you recover
I’m unvaccinated. My covid lasted for two days with mild fever.
I’m unvaccinated but still stressed about covid my problem is I’m scared of the vaccine but I’m scared of covid as well I’m really hoping my experience will be like yours. Wish me luck!
Me an my family are not vaccinated and we're litterally never sick.
Very good presentation. I have Omicron and my past experience is exactly like yours, constantly curious, informed, masked, isolated, vaccinated and now voluntarily quarantined with a persistent acceptance of the established medical science. I agree with your cautious optimism and expectations of the future. Thanks for the humour about our seperately shared experiences, I feel like I am in a victim styled fraternity. Keep safe and get well.
we don't need sheep/victims like you... this is a planned eugenics and you're playing the part to a tee... always a victim.
I hope you have a speedy and easy recovery! It is really hard nowadays when even the people who did the right things since the beginning are getting sick. It seems like everyone is running on empty two years in. I really hope there is an end in sight.
There should be :)
Dr John Campbell uploads daily on it
(he's a bit of an idiot when it comes to proper statistics, lol, but great in all other respects)
Maybe that means we were not doing the right thing after all...just saying....
@@pbarrick03 we do our best with the most up to date science
Omicron is far more infectious than previous strains, so unfortunately the best practices have not offered as much protection as before
That does not change their past effectiveness
I had to watch, mainly because I tested positive 3 days ago. Can't believe you were able to film and speak so intelligently while ill. I can barely manage to send a text. I had 2 shots, no booster. I'm on paxlovid and feel like I'm getting better.
So the " shots" didn't work ?
I just had Covid for the second time. I’m non vaccinated, due to medical reasons. I had Covid last year. I suffered for 3 straight weeks and was exhausted for 2 more weeks. Just had Covid again. 3 really bad days. After a week testing negative, and I feel better than ever.
Please don't ever get the vaccine.
It's rat poison 💉
Thank God for your "medical reasons". You just moved your way to the front of the pack when it comes to life expectancy, regardless of Covid.
Welcome to the club Joe. Me and my mom had covid during the holidays and let me tell you when they say that it's different for everyone they mean it. While I was dealing with a mild case of the dang vrius while my mom had a somewhat a servier case and got the aintbiocts injections. I am just greatfull that it didn't ruin the holidays. Oh btw the dog wouldn't leave us out of her sight, well mostly my mom.
My cat acted the same way with my mom and now he won't leave my brother.
Your dog sounds absolutely precious!
Can animals get affected by the virus? Asking for my cat.

Some apparently can, yes.
I haven't heard whether it's more or less severe for them, though

*This* is the covid update I've been looking for! Thank you!! You're amazing Joe ♥️
Thank you
Exactly what you said! That’s how I felt. Worked as an RN for 2 years frontline worked with covid pt. After booster and all . Now I got it 🥺 and on my birthday. 😅 ( before having a party)
Thank you for sharing this video, Joe. Have a speedy recovery. :)
I got officially confirmed yesterday too. Hope you go through this smoothly!
I’ve had it for a week, for the 1st 5 days I felt like a cold was coming on , then I woke up on day 6 & I felt like I was hit by a truck . The fatigue was debilitating I still feel sick but today starting to feel a little better but when I slept for two days straight I was experiencing horrible muscle & joint pain , headache . I don’t wish this on anyone. If this omicron virus is less severe I would hate to see what the other delta virus was like . I’m overweight & 59 & hope I pull through this.
🙏🏾❤️
Just got Covid, on my third day, I am unvaccinated, temperature went as high as 39.5, today temperature returned to normal, sore throat, light coughs.
Very thankful for you making this video!
Get well soon man. And thank you for the amazing explanation. On the point
Great video!
Damn it dude. The other day I pushed open a door and wiped my mouth right after and remember thinking “I should go back and clean up.. nah I’ll be fine” and here I am. Survived all this time and now my whole body hurts. I honestly already struggle with depression so I was just gonna let it do it’s thing until I felt like I was cooking inside. Same day I got the fever I went in btw. I hate this so much.
Same thing happened to me
