"I love Nickelback"
To make that claim on the internet... This man fears nothing.
Before, I liked you. Today, I respect you.
I was thinking the same thing. You just said it better than I could have.
"I am immune to FOMO" every Space Marine player after this week's equal attention sergeant reveal. Some of us have to wait years for new models...and then I have MOFO.
Nobody fears missing a Nickelback concert...
but we do fear living near an arena hosting a Nickelback concert..." I've been there, man, you don't know the pain" lol
Ya I thought he was going to go a different way than that...
I was about to write that ;)
yeah the fomo thing is hilarious. there's so many to choose from, it's paralyzed me from pulling the trigger on *any* recently released model.
With the price of Lego nowadays your duck should be called Scrooge McDuck!
They release stuff. It's often cool. Sometimes fascinating. Sometimes not. It's systematically absurdly overpriced and I don't buy it. I'm not even mad at them anymore.
@@TetsugakuSan **GW resin model character costs 42 dollars.***
***high quality resin recasts***
***40 dollars for a fucking leman russ kit, unique character... 10 dollars.. to 12 dollars***
It's not that they need a new job, its that legitimately GW does hike shit up to a ridiculous degree.
So not only do they release models that will never come around again.
But then they are stupidly expensive on top of that.
Why in the fuck is forge world so expensive xd
@@TetsugakuSan dont get me wrong, they need to make money.
But when the do shit that makes it hard as fuck to get into the hobby, doing limited time models. Doing limited time boxes that get sold out in 5 minutes and doing nothing to deal with scalpers.
Then complain about recast.
@@valeastora4185 plastic and cardboard are cheap, work of people cost fortune.
Pure speculation but apparently, GW's having issues with implementing a new logistics system. Work supposedly started in early 2020 and was scheduled to take a year, costing around £6million, my guess is the combination of Covid, issues around Brexit and the general complexity of revamping a system that maintains your global supply chains has caused some major headaches in Nottingham. This could explain why so many items are frequently listed as 'temporarily unavailable'. Cursed City might just have too many supply issues for it to be maintained as a viable product for the present time. Take all that with a liberal dose of sodium however 'cos I doubt we'll ever get a straight answer from Geedubs.
The XV109 Y'Vahra battlesuit jumped to no longer available a few weeks ago and I freaked out coz I'm working up to getting one once I've tried building a smaller resin model first, thankfully it appears to be back in stock.
I’ve got to say I like you and your channel, you’ve got the voice and demeanor, and good hobby tips and insight. Hope your channel keeps growing.
Most controversial statement in a video about modern GW tactics and FOMO:
"I love Nickelback."
Weirdly I feel like I live the same life as this man the more I watch this weekly show. I work in a theatre building sets, I am a collector of LEGO (majority of which is starwars LEGO), I also love to model and convert my warhammer models, and starwars is my one true love x
Great freaking content! EOB is the gem of hobby CZcams!!
What a glorious day, new videos from boys at EOB, Goobs, MWM and Uncle Atom. A lunch hour well spent.
GW already has their new factory completed, but it is not fully on-line. Additionally, they're now retro-fitting their old factory sites. They're also in the process of opening and transferring operations to new warehouses in the US and in England. On top of all that, they've also spent $9 million on a new ERP system, including changing vendors in the middle of it, which is probably the ultimate source of all of their logistics problems. All of this information is in their latest Half-Yearly Report.
Thanks for the info, that’s cool news
I mean, we have to name the duck Nickleback. Since you love them both.
Rupert and William having tea! Your take on British society is spot on! :) (And I agree with your Monday conspiracy theory...)
Lego 40k is pretty cool! I’ve got a whole bunch of pictures I’ve found for when I eventually get the time to try some freebuilding with our mixed up buckets of bricks
Great take on the GW fiasco. And amazing duck. That would be a fun smaller activity to craft. And super cool, I went to college in Milwaukee too!
We often overlook the fact that with the global pandemic and lockdowns means a lot more people have returned to the hobby to cure boredom and hence suddenly the demand is higher than anticipated also global production has slowed down a lot so if you factor in circumstance its no surprise supply could not meet the demand
Very true, right now i cannot get a high end mountain bike there is none in stock all the dealers around my area say maybe 2022, try to buy a video game console right now none in stores or online none.
And no surprise that they don't jump into investing on increasing their production capacity. They know this hike might not be sustainable long term.
I want a filming cage like this for my hobby area, heard it from Brent (the mayor of Goobertown Hobbies) and I just love it.
Thank you so much for this videos, I enjoy them very much ^^
Came here to find out whats up with Cursed City. Staying for the good feels. Awesome channel!
Wish I had been this early for Cursed City.
Check your gaming stores nearby. I just grabbed my copy at my local warhammer store.
Or you could get the "Dungeons and Dragons - Castle Ravenloft" board game. It's basically the same thing (with different minis obviously) at a quarter of the price.
My local apparently got 15 boxes, so yeah check your local
Mr. LUCK, the LEGO duck.
They may have been already in the process of opening a new factory and now they’re closing preorders to get things back in order lol
I'm currently replacing the floors in our house.... I am evidently using the same measure and cut method as you... Super fun.
Recent questionable business decisions coupled with supply chain issues from China due to Covid and Brexit are what's causing this depression. My friend owns the FLGS and tells me the horror stories dealing with GW and the way they treat retailers. Plus, players don't like being taken advantage of and GW has been doing a lot of that lately. 40k is now Pay-to-Win and most players can't afford the new stuff.
Nice, actually LOL’d at the behind the scenes at GW bit, 💯 how it is!
your sound setup is super crisp and really great btw.
Back in January of 2020 they mentioned that they were doing an internal software rework and that if it didn't go smoothly there would be problems. Would make sense if they can't keep accurate track of inventory and pre-orders.
I clicked this before Goobs. Nice work!
I'm really speculating here, I'm a Brit and two external factors that could be part of the delays could be: 1) Britain is just coming out of a 4th lockdown, and Nottingham where the factory is based was under heavy restrictions before this point 2) brexit is so complicated that a lot of business were left in the dark around tariffs, export rules etc. Seriously business big and small were given next to no information by the Government up until Britain left the European Union. Perfect external storm could be a big reason.
Yo thanks for showing my Union soldier
The duck's name is obviously Quack McKroeger
FYI -They are moving their warehouses from one place to another, that's why they are pausing the preorder thing. It had been discussed in the investor meaning, it was pre-planned. :)
Love the series! Thanks so much for the amazing content! Name the duck Chad Quacker would ya? Heh
That’s a rad duck. I’d name him Scoop Bandit.
The worst part for me was when my two main independents ran out of stock... then it popped up later that day on a 3rd with not as good a discount... but because the other independents believed they would get more stock I thought to myself "I don't need it on launch day... I can wait to save another 10% off GW Australia's crazy prices".
Kicking myself ever since.
this is the correct attitude. they make cool little toys. (subscribed)
Have decided to boycutt GW after this - came back to the hobby 7 years ago at the age of 30 and spend most of my salary over the years on it.
There’s been some very unfortunate events over the past year or 2 from GW but this botched release and failed communication was the final straw for me unfortunately. 😞
The fantastic part is that now there’s so many other great game systems from other companies out there for me to enjoy now ❤️
I like your positivity brother
your best takes are in these video formats imo
I like when you say, "Now that I'm old..." (around 13:58)
Measure once.. cut twice 🤣🤣🤣 I laugh but that happens ALL THE TIME to me!!!
I had a coincidental support email with GW that went off on a tangent (they asked if I needed anything else; I figured why not ask?). They passed my sad face response along to the AoS team.
"I am afraid Cursed City was a limited run. As such, there are no plans for any more to be made at this point. If this changes it will be announced on the Warhammer Community website."
Well said. You understand the situation perfectly.
I heard that it was due to shipping issues as well, brought on by operational changes made due to for covid, orders back log and production issues. And the fact that warehouse ops are worn out.
The duck looks like a george
I shall call him, Bill.
The duck should be called MOK
Name of the duck: señor patito
*Some news this morning from an undisclosed source.
GW are planning on releasing (some) of the models from cursed city by themselves
(without the game parts) for £80 / €100*
I see you have learned the secret of home improvements: many many trips to the hardware store
LOL... measure twice, cut once.....LOL... My dad and me build a house barn once, we went thru a lot of lumber! lots of short pieces left!!
I think dismissing FOMO in this manner misses the point: _of course_ having a fear of missing out is illogical. GW doesn't want you thinking logically. They want you to think however you need to to buy GW products.
It's manipulation of customer emotions. They use their previews, advertisements, and even the ecosystem of wargaming reviews and discussion (such as CZcams channels like this one) to drum up hype around their next big product. Dripping clues about the products, steadily feeding us bits of information about models or lore or gameplay. Getting customers excited about the product. Not as an eventual purchase they might make, but as something that they want _right now._
So when the product drops, and then immediately sells out because of a low print run, the customers whose excitement was brought to a fever pitch are left in a lurch. It's capitalistic blue balls. Which then means the customers will watch for reprints like a hawk - jumping to buy it when it becomes available again, regardless of what they would do otherwise - and to approach all future product releases with a sense of tension.
It's not really about what's the sensible decision. GW uses tactics like these to make potential customers act contrary to their own rational self interest.
Its name is obviously Duckelback. Couldn't be anything else.
Rupert is well known for missing deadlines cos he's too busy with a cup of tea.... so much so that Charles is gunning for his job!
Roderick Mortimer Ducklington IV, Esq.
I fully expect cursed city to come back with at least a 200% markup and broken into multiple boxes the same way they did the indominus HQ's.
GW had production problems long before the growth.
The factory isnt in the best place to expand, but space isnt the problem. The local energy grid can't get enough power to the site because it was only ever built to be a commercial/light industrial zone. So a short closure could be to finally upgrade this. The short and limited run models have 100% been to deal with this issue, i just don't think they were thinking far enough ahead to think of the fomo/marketing, when I needed that solution.
They won't move production overseas - the molds are too valuable to them and they are scared they would be stolen and used to produce knock off copy. They have moved some printing of shore, but they dont trust anyone with molds!!
Instructions unclear, 10th trip to the hardware store and my car is in a lake.
As someone who is just getting back into 40k I'm noticing GW are horrendous at providing enogh product for people that want them 😂
Woah, the insight is flowing through you like the hate of the dark side of the force! Let it flow, harness it, use it. Strike me down and take you place here in the dark side Jay.
That duck looks like a ‘Bert’
I think the problem is they have an on site pub at games-workshop. Every time I have been it's always full of staff. All that drinking leads to mistakes. Lol
is that true! that is awsome
@@EonsOfBattle yeah, its called bugmans bar.
This limited release hurt because Cursed City was going to be the game my buddies and I were most looking forward to playing once we come out of Covid. We'd finished Blackstone so now we have to find something else. Getting this game in 2025 isn't much of a salve.
Count Duckula
Has to be Terry, in memory of the great Sir Terry Pratchett ^^
Cursed city was literally the only thing I ever pre-ordered. I fell into the fomo trap and bought one right away. But boy am I happy I did.
Hmmm, I wonder if the limited number of items, and postponement of pre-orders may have to do with rising oil prices? That is an essential component to making miniatures.
"Nobody really has ownership of any particular design" he says while BickVault is selling "original " and "more realistic" instructions for old and new Lego sets for +$15.
Also thanks for the confining my suspicion about the MOFO thing, also I taught games workshop was already a big company with super professional staff.
I'd call that lil' guy "Mr Ducky McDuckface". Simple, yet elegant.
Edit: woohoo, my Mandrakes were mentioned! Nice 😁
I second that motion! Ducky McDuckface!
Super on point with fomo. I just don’t get this context with GW also never mind the fact that most people haven’t played in person games for a year.🇨🇦
Name him "Sheev". The Emperor of all Duck-kind
Duck name: Stefan
your example of fomo is a sale only lasting 1 day.... yaknow like multiple gw releases in the last year that lasted 1-2 days before sold out and discontinued like the warcry starter box, indomitus ,or cursed city....
I love that duck!
13 days could be inventory.
@EonsOfBattle what type of bark/wood do you use when basing?
its usually pine bark for Indore potting soil cover
@@EonsOfBattle awesome sauce thanks.
FOMO? I have FOSN, Fear of seeing Nickleback
"Does this sound crazy to you?"
Not really! Just seems quite sensible, since there are some many models out of stock and there are model shipping delays.
How you remind me...... that i need to work on some necrons.😜
Lady Mallard of the Great Aureus Pond
hi you should do a video on the eldar and and if the ynnari are taking over the eldar race
It'd be a different tune if a new Space Hulk sold out in ten minutes before you could buy it... This is such a selfish "well, I got my cake so what're you upset about? GW still sell cupcakes so you can just buy one of those." Space Hulk has had normal rounds of board game production, Cursed City literally went OOP in ten minutes.
I maybe 5 months late watching this vid but i think the duck should be called "Nickle" 😉
GW investors need to look into WHY they would create molds, for a one off release. That is in no way an efficient use of money.
And the no shipping for a few weeks thing is a response to the Suez Canal slow down...The worlds shipping is a few weeks behind. GW said they did not want to add to the back log in that period.
rogue trader is a box made with completely unique figures and those have not been re-released. producing molds is not all that expensive for a company as large as Games Workshop and scrapping some of them for whatever reason might make sense to their executives. it would be nice if they were just more upfront about it and people wouldn't have to speculate
@@djangofett4879 nope, it is financially irresponsible. Marve comics started doing this same kind of thing at the peak of their revenue, and went bankrupt 5 years later.
Games Workshop will never stop doing shit that makes no fucking sense
Inquisitor Duckuss
They are shifting their logistics amd business management software apparently tilt
I deeply regret not buying SpaceHulk when I could. All 4 times that I had the chance...
DUCK NAME SUGGESTION: NickelDuck
I wonder how much the Suez Canal drama impacted GW
In the spirit of the video you could call it Nickelquack...
Firstly you should call the duck Ghazghull Duck Uruk Trakka, da bigges and baddes duck in da galaxy. Secondly, it wasn't the FOMO that bothered me. It was how GW handled aftermath. They could have said "it will be back at some point" or at least apologised for misleading the community (they have been honest with the community before so I don't see how this should be any different). But they hyped it up, insisted it would continue, and then it just disappeared, like a bad Houdini trick. and then, a couple of days later they sent out this obscure unapologetic statement saying it won't be coming back, but maybe all you people who missed out will get lucky if you que outside a stockist tomorrow 🤷♂️. It just reminds me of the bad old days of GW, where their attitude was "shut up nerd and give me your money"
I got lucky i got mine
Ah yes, Space Hulk
Anybody remember all the advertising in the leadup to 3rd edition for the anniversary, where they told everyone it wouldn't come back?
And then they did 4th, with the exact same box art
Fun times
2 weeks with contractors and overtime is very much entire new line level of refurbishment of factories
We used to use legos to play warhammer when we were younger.. good times
Nickelback = GW? Yeah, I have about the same amount invested in both those things... Which is to say, not much at all. lol
How about Mccallum for the duck's name?
Blackstone fortress has always been available.... as will cursed city.
Hyperbole is real.
