- Pokemon Legends Arceus has 36 Hisuian ancestors in this game and a lot more descendents who are related to those characters! And I think I've found a few characters that no one else has figured out just yet so I'm excited to share them with you!

My best gusse for Hua Tao which is a Chinese name so could be Mustard or very unlikely he could be Faba since gen 7 is the only generation that see to be no ancestors

Tuli looks to be Barry's ancestor. Barry has that part of hair sticking out which if put down would make him look like Tuli.
The Pearl Clan's leader immediately made me think of May, Serena, AND Misty at once.

I think they gave cynthia two ancestors because 3 of them symbolizes the lake trio. Volo name means "Wish/Will" that symbolizes Azelf for willpower Cogita name means "think" that symbolizes Uxie for knowledge while Cynthia's Japanese name Shirona means "love growing stronger" that symbolizes Mesprit.
Also, Lake Trio is based from the Imperial Regalia of Japan. These 3 treasures are very important to Japanese Imperial Family and these treasures eventually said to be passed down to their descendant. To relate this to Pokemon, Cogita is said to be descendant of Ancient Sinnoh that has information of Lake trio and said that you can make a red chain out of three. Basically, The clan of Cynthia is based from the Royal Family of Japan.

Well the name Shirona itself doesn't mean "love growing stronger" but her name does likely come from 白南天 (shironanten) which is a "white-fruited nandina". Apparently they do represent "love growing stronger" so it still makes sense.
Didn't Cynthia give us the psyduck formula in D&P?
in this game, you can cure psyduck headaches as well and the old lady in the galaxy medical ward gives you the formula. She says "Only my family knows the secret recipie". If anything I think Cynthia is a descendent of this old lady and the recipe passed down through the generations.
I find it a more fun theory than just matching hair color and teams.
Something that I found cool about Beni being Wally's ancestor is that Beni wears a face mask. It's heavily implied that Wally has asthma, and in the Pokemon Adventures manga he even wears one of those masks that help with your respiratory system.
Definitely a callback to the manga, nice catch!

12:20 Tao Hua is Charon's ancestor actually - through the quest we learn that his granddaughter married off to Choi. Which is the main part of the conflict as Tao Hua still didn't get over the fact his granddaughter "left him".
another thing about Tao Hua they are not related to crafting they are related to shopping (from my knowledge) because Tao Hua is the one who supplies the main shop in the village with items to sell (that's why the side quests related to them unlocks new items in the main shop)

In the final sidequest involving Choy and Tao Hua, Tao Hua's granddaughter is revealed to be married with Choy, so he's probably also Charon's ancestor
One nice reference that solidifies Arezu as Mars' ancestor is simply her name : Mars is the name of the planet, but also the Roman god of war mars, whose name in Greek is Ares. With a japanese twist, becomes Arezu.
That doesn't really "solidify" it. It's just fun trivia.

I’ve only seen one Japanese artist talk about this but now that they said it I totally see it: they were hypothesizing that Palina may be Bede’s ancestor. Their points were:
-Her hair is curly/wavy
-the butterfly-shaped bow in her hair looks like the bow he ties on his shirt as a gym leader, and the symbol of the Ballonlea gym is also a butterfly
-both of them make similar poses (sadly I can’t send images here but the pose after he’s lost after he interrupted the finals)
-her name in Japanese (Garana) comes from guaraná, and this specific guaraná drink exclusive to Hokkaido has beets in it (Bede’s japanese name)
-purple eyes
It could or it could not be the case, but I found this theory pretty fun and the most convincing when it comes to her so far haha
I think Tao Hua’s descendent is actually Mustard from the isle of armor. They have a passing resemblance to one another I think and the Chinese influences they have with the name of Tao Hua and Mustard’s outfits in swsh

I was surprised that Cynthia got two ancestors in this game, but it does make sense. Given how Cynthia is arguably the most popular champion and one of the most popular characters. I was also happy to see Karen get an ancestor in this game, given how she is my favorite elite four member.

@@sarthakarora3212 Oh I know, but he's still a part of her family. He was evil and likely died after the Giritina shenanigans, but he is still one of Cynthia's ancestors. I suppose that makes Cogita the direct ancestor, which makes sense when we look at her choice of clothing.
Do we know what's the relation between Volo and Cogita then? Is it stated at any point in the game?

I know May is popular for Irida, but I'd find it really strange that a protagonist from a different game would have an ancestor here. Irida's design is intentional though--I'm going with the idea that Adaman and Irida have descendants in later games. It would also make sense they are the most prominent of the new characters, they would need to stand alone on their own to shine.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate that this game 100% confirms that literally everything imaginable is hereditary in this series, from hair to outfit to personality to Pokémon/type preferences?
Seeing with how crazy Volo went and with how bright his hair is, he could also be related to Lusamine, especially since we don't know what region they are from. We do know that they aren't Alola natives though.

The Aether Foundation was founded in Unova so its save to assume that Lusamine's family is from there too.
@@PSIworld13 Which doesn't say a whole lot, since we literally have Clays ancestor in Legends Arceus as well, which means Volo's ancestors could have just as easily moved to Unova at some point. Heck, we literally have three characters in the game that come from the Kanto region.
Ingo's dialogues pretty much confirmed that he's from the "future", just like our main characters, so he's probably the subway guy from B2W2. Oh and if the main characters are indeed from the "future", then they might not Dawn and Lucas' ancestors, but Dawn and Lucas themselves. Idk. Am I stretching it too much?
For sure. I think whomever you pick is either Lucas or Dawn (in DPPl o believe you're 10 yrs old, but you're 15 in PLA so there's a 5 year gap if that's true) but who ever you don't pick is the ancestor of Lucas or Dawn. I think he mentioned that in the video.

When I first played, I thought Irida looked a lot like May. They have similar hair colors and color schemes, and that's all I could think when I saw her

That's what I thought, too.
May has brown hair and different eye colour, they actually don't look anything alike if you compare their art, even the hairstyle is soo much different. By reasoning like that you could mix her with multiple characters, which doesn't make sense, when all the other ancestors have obvious connection.
I always thought it was pretty obvious and neat that Laventon was Leon and Hop's ancestor just from his design, the pom-pom on his hat is very similar to the fur on Leon and Hop's cape and jacket, plus his trousers have the same pattern as Leon's shirt.
Also Iris is related to Leon and Hop. In Masters Iris says that Leon is her cousin.
I like how it kinda hints that they are Indian due to them changing Raichu's dex entry from Indian elephant to Copperajah
@@AznYunHou Honestly wouldn't surprise me if their ancestry can trace back to an Indian/South Asian inspired region. Would make sense since Galar is inspired by Britain and England has a very large community of SA immigrant families.
If there comes DLC in some day then I hope to see, not his ancestor, but Az himself. I also hope to see Red’s ancestor who would be the kind of thing that would make many fans lose their minds. But what do you think, what Red’s ancestor should look like if there was one?

@@HybridHero Agreed or find Prof. Oak's ancestor too since it is canon that Prof. Oak invented the original electronic Pokedex in Kanto before it became mainstream across the other regions to make their own variants. Same with Bill in inventing the Pokebox and it being upgraded or made another variant in Hoenin Region.
I'd love a game about Az' Story. But i fear that would be too mature with the topic of war. But seeing him in a dlc would also be great.

It'd be really cool if the Pokémon games going forward gets more interconnected by way of ancestors/descendants or things in lore tying the regions closer together
I think that’s exactly what they are trying to do. I think they are trying to connect things closer to the anime as well and kinda bring everything together.. after so many complaints of the Pokémon lore being inconsistent, I think this is apart of a whole plan to fix that for good.

Irida is a sptting image of May from Hoenn. Irida also mentions in her dialogue during the battle quest where you get the orb to turn Palkia into its origin form, that she wants to travel the world and see other regions. So its very possible she settles in Hoenn and has a family there. May is also from a town in Hoenn that is very close to the sea, so it could be said that Irida started her life very close to the coast.
Someone on Reddit made a post that stated that Iscan and Palina are the ancestors of Trial Captain Illima and it honestly makes so much.
That would actually make a lot of sense. What if nessa and illima are distant relatives as well!

6:21 Raichu's dex entry, obviously written for Laventon, states that it could incapacitate a Copperajah from his homeland. In SwSh, we also know that Copperajah comes from another region, Laventon's home. I think it is more possible that Laventon is an ancestor of Rose and Peony, than of Hop and Leon. Also, in Laventon's concept art, we can see that he has black hair, just like Rose.
That's a good point, but Laventon's pants are the same as Leon's shirt, black with yellow stripes, so I definitely think they're related

The dex entry does not state that copperrajah is native to his homeland just that they are there.
I think this entry is based on the one from first games which mention real elephant.

@@jonathanzimmer725 whatever the reason doesn’t excuse the poor execution. BDSP was developed by a company other than GF while GF worked on Legends, but regardless. Fans deserve a finished game if they’re gonna charge 60 dollars for it.
@@rlmartinez26 Riiiiight. Kyurem was the leftover of the other two splitting into two. Now we know how Kyurem looks united with one of them, but what is with Zekrom, Reshiram and maybe Kyurem together.
The big Dragon wich splitted into two because one side didn't agreed with the other one.
One thing I noticed while playing through the game is that some characters show certain physical traits that could hint at their ancestry, for example arezu does the same forward lean pose thing when she's excited that sonia does and melli has the same posture and facial expressions as swordward and shielbert. It could also just be that Gf was lazy and reused some previous animations.

It does make them seem lazy considering they literally have hundreds of people making these games and they're like the biggest video game company in the world. I see why you wouldn't care and tbh I don't care about the animations themselves, I care more about the fact that the recent games have been complete dog water and it seemed they were only going downhill from there. It only becomes an issue when you realize the scale of the company and how they literally made you pay $60 (plus $30 for dlc) for a seemingly unrefined and very stiff game with not a ton of life put into it that just straight up reuses animations from a game on the 3DS. What they did in Arceus was amazing imo and I love how experimental they're going with it despite the obvious flaws. I really just want to see pokemon shift onto a better path because my god it was hard to enjoy Shield and I wasted $30 for dlc I didn't even end up wanting to play.
I love this! Some people think it's more clear-cut so I'm glad to see a video that goes into detail and speculates on the unclear ancestors.
ALSO Laventon does NOT know how to throw a pokeball (he states this at some point). Guess it runs in the family. Also Paulina could also be an ancestor to Ilima from Alola.
Reading through the comments, people point out that Tao Hua is likely another ancestor of Charon, but just looking at him, he reminds me a little of Team Plasma's Seven Sages. Aside from Ghetsis, they all wear hats, and some have a similar hairstyle to Tao Hua. But that's kinda hard to tell because for most of them we only have an overworld sprite in the games, and their designs are pretty different between the different media that have depicted them.
Palina is 100% May's ancestor. Her headband is a mix of red and green and is styled in the way May herself wears it. Red and green being the colors of her headband in the original hoenn games. Red in ruby/sapphire, green in platinum. As well as her goggles most likely being a reference to go goggles from hoenn, the same goggles she gifts you in one of her Interactions
Irida I'm convinced is related to May. You cannot tell me that they don't look similar and if you pick May as your protagonist, they move to Hoenn from an undisclosed region
Yeah, from Johto. In the Delta Episode of ORAS, Norman and your mom are talking about it. Norman was the old Goldenrod City GL.
Also I think that the crafting man is Kurt's ancestor because Kurt's family has been crafted Pokeballs from Apricorns for a long time.
seems like they forgot the old ways of Apricorn crafting, since kurt takes a whole day for one ball while the character in legends can craft as many as he wants in a short time
@@Saroku1000 The apricorn balls that Kurt produces though, are a lot more advanced than the ones we craft. Which could explain why they take longer.

I think Adaman is related to Hugh from B2/W2 and Irida is related to May from R/S personally and that our warden in charge of Basculine is related to Lenora.

I like to believe that Paulina is Sonia's ancestor because along with Professor Magnolia, the three of them have both similar hairstyles and color. That and both Sonia and Paulina are raising dog themed Pokemon: Yamper and Arcanine.
That and it would make Sonia's dynamic with Hop even more wholesome due to her now being the professor after her grandmother and Hop being her aspiring assistant.
I like the idea of some characters being descendants for people we might not have seen yet like adaman or the possibility of more than one descendant and them traveling to different regions to get the characters we have in other games
Sabi also being an ancestor to Hapu I didn't see coming, and they do share a lot of traits, mainly their facial features. Cheryl and Hapu sharing an ancestor is quite interesting indeed.

I think Palina's ancestor is the Hoenn Elite Four Glacia. Her RSE and ORAS artworks have a similar pose to her overworld model and her hairstyle closely resemble hers.

I think Irida and Adaman look like the boy & girl from the Orre region. They have similar eye shapes. Also I always thought Beni could be Cilan’s ancestor because of the hair color & connection to food

I’m quite fond of the idea that Melli is the ancestor of Clair from Johto. I feel like if he was related to Jupiter or Lucian they would have made it a little more apparent. Melli’s whole attitude kind of mirrors how Clair refuses to accept defeat and give you your Gym Badge until the Dragon master makes her.
I always thought melli was the top hat guy from sw/sh dlc (forgot the name)
Adaman being Barry's ancestor makes sense, since they are both obsessed with time. Irida looks a lot like May in my opinion.
There is a woman who we meet during the mission to help the two bronzor she kinda looks like Greta one of the Frontier brains. I also feel like Beni might be related to Cilan as well. I only say this becuase of his like for cooking. I am almost certain there is a guy in the same place as Kamado and Presselle who has a brown coat on and could be the ancestor of Looker.

Honestly I'm on board with Adaman and Irina shacking up to produce the line that would result in Palmer and later Berry.
Also another possible descendant of our dear professor also least likely is Olympia due to the association with the color purple
As for Beni while yes due to his choice in Pokemon he could be related to Wally, he could also be related to N or Ghetsis (He N's adoptive father) or unlikely due to the extra step needed Cilan and to an extent Chili and Cress
One last thing there were characters in here I didn't know about and I compiled a google doc this topic really goes to show you that you need the main primary source on a topic

To me Irida looks like May from RSE in the face. It's all I could think about from the moment I saw her. Even has the Red with white stripes like May's outfit.
To me Irida looks like she's Serena's twin sister, just take a look at Serena in the anime when she has short hair.
For Adaman I think it's Sycamore from Kalos. They both have slightly similar wavy hair, and while it has been a long time since I played Y I do feel like Sycamore and Adaman have somewhat similar arm gestures (like how Laventon and Hop have the same arm movements when excited).
As for Irida I feel it's either Serena or May because of the hair and the fact they have an eeveelution (May even had a Glaceon in the anime). And speaking of May some think Palina is also related to May because of her bandana.

The NPC for the Glameow side quest is absolutely the ancestor… of MR. SUKIZO FROM THE POKEMON CONTESTS IN THE ANIME!! Similar hair, skin tone, and the same screaming of his catch phrase “HOW REMARKABLE!!!”
I think Beni's ninja technique is a reference to the Shadow Triad from Black/White. The pose he does mainly.
I thought beni was related Aaron, since his beard looks like kleavor, a bug type pokemon. Beni could be related to both wally and Aaron, which would work since aaron and wally already look some what similar.
Am I the only one who thought Irida looks a lot like May? I even called her May in the beginning because her face reminds me of her. Even more so after I saw the evolution of her signiture Pokémon.
If the protagonist comes from the future and is his/her own ancestor, that means that his/her bloodline has no begining, it simply exist as a time paradox. An anomaly in time and space... poetic :)

Arezu's Japanese name has nothing to do with Silver. Her Japanese name is "Hinatsu", which comes from "Hinatshu boshi", which is the ancient name for Mars in Japanese. So Arezu's Japanese name is actually just indicating more that she is related to Mars.
I think he meant Silver's japanese name, not Arezu's.

All I’ll say is cogita says some WILD stuff after the incarnate quest and, well, I don’t even know what she is with those implications.
Tao Hua had me stumped, but the more I played the game, and got into his thing with Choy, I honestly thought he might be intended to be looker’s ancestor, which would make Charon and Looker ironically distant relatives, and give their relationship in Legends a through line in the series.
I believe that, Rei/Akari & Irida/Adaman are ancestor of Dawn/Lucas. Primarily because both of them represents paths for the Playable Character, during the climax.
So, if we consider that either the pair of Rei & Irida or Akari & Adaman, then they could be ancestor of Dawn or Lucas easily.
There is another possibility that Irida might be related to May (Hoenn Character), since she does look like her

I think Palina might be related to Professor Sycamore. Her eye color and hair style are a bit similar to his and the volcano where she looks after Arcanine mostly has Kanto Pokémon much like how Sycamore gives you mega Kanto starters early in X and Y.
Opal from Sword and Shield is related to Palina due to her headband and her long nose.
Actually, i think adaman resembles sycamore more. Especially due to hair color and style.
Sanqua may also be a mix with Clair because of her side quest with pichu. If you go into her closet it says there is a cape and this may relate to Clair. They both have blue hair and Clair does wear a cape.

Palina is a young Opal. The "pal" part of the name is there, and you can find concept art of young Opal if you look it up, the resemblance is clear.

I always thought Irida was the ancestor of May. The eyes and face remind me of May, plus they both have a Glaceon. Could be my imagination though.

Take a look at Serena in the anime when she has short hair she's clearly the one who's related to Irida. I don't know why everyone's saying that she's related to May when they look nothing alike.
Not sure about Volo and Cynthia.. sure the hair color and team matches but remember in D&P Cynthia gave you the psyduck formula to cure their headaches?
You can also complete a similar psyduck quest in Arceus. You learn that the old lady in the Galaxy HQ makes you a psyduck formula that "only her family knows how". Meaning if anything Cynthia comes from the descendants of that old lady and the formula has been passed down through the generations. (It's also possible Volo married into that family as well. Which is something we can never know)
If anything Volo's final wish is strikingly similar to modern-day Team Galactic's mission. "To create a new world". He might have actually planted seeds overtime to create the galaxy HQ we know today.
Irida is May's ancestor.
Professor Laventon might not be from Galar, as he comes from the same homeland as the Copperajah (see Raichu's dex entry), with the latter known to arriving from a distant homeland into Galar (as seen on SwSh dex entry). Might be from an upcoming gen location based on India.
In regard to Adaman and Irida, there's portraits of the leaders of their respective clans look remarkably similar to Maxie and Archie, so I believe that's their intended ancestors
Honestly Iridia strongly reminds me of Lillie in her facial structure and we don’t have any obvious Alola ancestors in the game
Could be a reach but Reach is that Volo could also be related to Lusamine from Sun and Moon with making a possiblity of Cythnia and Lusamine may be related. Think about how Volo has the same color scheme once he "reveals himself" like how Lusamine does. White, Yellow, Green. All share the hair over the eyes as well.. Volo shares that craziness that Lusamine had in the game as well too lol
Tuli to me is more similar to Greta. The hair are WAYYYY more similar to Greta.
Palina is Glacia. The hair are extremly similar to Glacia's hair and she often have the same pose of Glacia.
Irida is very similar to Paulo.
Idk Adaman looks like Archie to me with the way he crosses his arms, and Irida looks like Saphire/May minus the hair color. But, the dispostion, the face shape, and the personality *kind of* remind me of her.

Tao Hua is actually also related to Charon! in the final side quest for the shop its shown that tao huas daughter married Choy meaning we see not 1 not 2 BUT 3 of charons ansestors in this game!

Back here after Gen 9 and maybe, just maybe, both Adaman and Irida could be related to Penny. Penny has a facial shape that feels like a combo of both, two-tone hair in reddish-pink (Pearl clan) and blue (diamond clan) and uses Eeveelutions- just like Adaman and Irida do.

When I first saw Melli I immediately thought he was Klara’s (From Sword and Shield) ancestor. Something about the hair and personality along with use of a poison type Pokemon.
Also just noticed that Irida’s tube top looks very similar to Serena’s hat, although that may be more a coincidence than a descendant link, although I do think they look similar and a closer match than May which is crazy because it would be awesome if Serena & May are related
Irida made me think of Serena and May immediately. Adaman for some reason gave me Conquest vibes, but I don't know why and I never really played it either, his look just really reminded me of that game more than anyone else's
