We love Kevin (the beatboxer). He graduated from Yale with a pre-med degree, speaks several languages including fluent Mandarin (Chinese), plays concert-level cello and saxophone, composes and arranges music, and is just a helluva great guy. Oh yeah, he beatboxes too!

Kevin, the beatboxer, can sing too as well as play the cello & sax. He & Mitch (the one with the magical high voice, a real counter tenor) are also the best rappers in the group. After you get to know the group more you'll see him sing & also cellobox. Occasionally a song they are doing just needs strings or strings to replace what would've been a piano in the original, so that one will be one of the few exceptions of having an instrument. He does more singing in his solo stuff, as his role as beatboxer does mean he doesn't get to sing as much. The bass (current one you saw here is Matt, the original bass Avi left for personal reasons in 2017 & now does his own stuff at a slower pace) can switch up & sing more often than the beatboxer because Scott, the tall baritone, can cover for the bass when needed.
Matt is the best rapper of the group, watch finess remix from live concert and he is better than Mitch

Kevin’s skills are off the charts. All of them are unnaturally gifted. I love that you seem to notice the amazing beatboxing and bass. Often times people only notice the back 3 singers rocking it and they don’t take notice of the amazing basis of the song. Can’t wait for more PTX. New sub btw!

As for a good recommendation I can lead you to: Compare the talent of Pentatonix and their "EVOLUTION OF RIHANNA" to Superfruit's "ANTI MEDLEY (Rihanna Cover)" the same goes for PTX's "EVOLUTION OF BEYONCE" and Superfruit's album medley "BEYONCE"... Queen B was full of praise for both versions and Scott (tall, blond) is a hardcore Beyonce fan while Mitch ("little dude with angel voice") is a Rihanna fan.

Rihanna is Mitch's fave (Little Guy), and after posing with him and Scott (Big Blonde R&B dude) for a selfie backstage at an awards show she was walking away then turned and said "Hey.." at Mitch. He looked around to see if she was speaking to someone else and she said "Yeah, YOU." And he said something brilliant like "yes?" and she said "Your voice is SICK!"
He considers himself good for life in the compliment category after that! Too bad Freddie Mercury is gone.. Mitch idolizes him too and sang lead in their cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody"... but maybe they'd have been too nervous to attempt it if Freddie were still with us. They declined fans harping on them to cover it for years. They said it was too epic and they'd never attempt it unless they felt they could even begin to do it justice.. Well they did attempt it, and I think they did danged good arranging it to sound like the original with voices only! But they are still apologetic for even trying it when they introduce the number live. I think they were quite creative.. and it's no wonder they said "No" for so long. Anyway, Mitch has the voice of an angel.. except when it's an electric guitar 🎸

I know I’m 3 years late to the party here, but it’s so fun to watch you discover PTX and begin to love them as much as we all do! I could not help but notice that you are wearing a Sesame Street shirt, and I wonder if you have ever seen Pentatonix’s appearance on Sesame Street… it’s a super cute video and they count to five through five different songs. Worth checking out! Might be on the Sesame Street channel, I don’t think it’s on the PTX one.

The name of the group is based off the pentatonic scale. Penta meaning five referring to the number of members in the group. Someone has probably listed the members in another comment somewhere but I'll do it again anyway 😊
Kirstin Maldonado: mezzo soprano. The first syllable of her name is pronounced like "thirst."
Mitch Grassi: the high pitched guy who changes his appearance a lot. He's a true tenor or a counter tenor. His range is super high.
Scott Hoying: the tall blonde guy. Baritone. He has a really amazing range and covers the bass when the bass has the melody.
Avi Kaplan: bass and he left the group in 2017 for personal reasons. They are still friends and he helped them pick out their current bass singer. He has blown out speakers with his voice.
Kevin Olusola: beatboxer and tenor. He does sing in and has solos in a several songs. He's also arguably the most talented member, plays the cello, and he can play cello and beatbox at the same time. He's also multilingual and plays multiple instruments. He has solo work on CZcams as well.
Matt Sallee: current bass. Also very talented and a good addition to the group.
