they look absolutely ridiculous in those outfits in the parking lot, but in the actual video it looks pretty incredible, sometimes you just gotta roll with someones vision, for me that song and video was their best work, the song haunts me to this day its an absolute masterpiece
Saw them live last night in Austin TX and went bonkers when they played this song it’s one of my favorites from them 🤘🏼🤘🏼

The whole part about the people not understanding the video sounds insane to me! When I first saw it in the earliest 2000s I was a teenager (about 14) from the ex-USSR with basic knowledge of Beardslay's art and the old movies and the most basic knowledge of the Bible and I still got the references and the whole idea. It's not that sophisticated.

Really cool. I immediately got the silent film and Aubrey Beardsley references when the video was new in 1998 or so. What an incredible era the 90s were for artistic expression in music videos, this one remains great, one of my favorites. Smashing Pumpkins and Billy Corgan truly excelled at making beautiful interesting things in their music and videos.

Hey, I think the same, one of my fave videos ever, and my fave song from Smashing Pumpkins, I saw one couple reaction to this video, makes me disgusting, sorry, but this is a love story, the video, lyrics on point MASTERPIECE, I understand not everybody got it, like the end od movie City of Angels end, it is perfect, not everything has to finish with everybody alive..... `happy ever after`, to me this video is a happy ending, they stay together, `you`re mine forever`, and this is what I understand, thank you for posting this amazing Making of, I loved watch how was made.

anyone know what kind of guitar billy is holding at 0:42 ? Im very curious
100% custom. Looks like the fretboard is not only extended way into the body, but also fretless, the upper cutaway is stylized, yet the knobs are very much in a standard Strat formation, the paintjob is custom looking, and the headstock is a 3 a side sorta plain Les Paul-ish style. Very much a custom made guitar, or a small builder at best. Certainly nothing readily available at retail.

to be honest, this video's story didn't really translate well. they got inlove with the costumes and technicalities, they forgot to make it coherent. it looks very promising but fell short sadly. Ava Adore, now that was a cool music video.
