- Today I showcase and explain how to use the best live traffic add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator!

In today’s video I will be showcasing a great add-on which injects live traffic into MSFS 2020 using real-world liveries and data. This is the best real live traffic tool I have used so far in the sim, and in this video I will explain what it is and how to use it. You will need to use three different programs in combination with each other to get it all running, and once it has been set up you can enjoy accurate real live traffic in MSFS! The good news is that this is a fairly straightforward process, so shouldn’t take too long and is well worth it in my opinion.

This is amazing! Just spending some time at Myrtle Avenue watching the evening EGLL arrivals. I never have to leave the house again ;) I had to do a bit of config of the XML to point to the correct folders (I have a Steam installation that I've also customised), but it was relatively painless otherwise. Dang, Pie you make such great videos, but this time I'm not falling for it 😄 The last "best real traffic mod" was a royal pain in the a.. to get to run properly. I see the same potential here.
This combination of tools are fantastic! I've been using RealTraffic , AIG and PSXT for just over a month now and love it. It adds a whole new level of immersion. When possible I also use LiveATC (using a 45 sec. delay in VLP Player) to add even more to the experience. My only disappointment is that RealTraffic recently removed the ability in their basic package to set the time back up to 24 hours. That's now only possible in their pro package which costs twice as much!

Do I need to use the Aigtc also with the psxt controller? It keeps telling me to set the path to AIGTC directory. I thought psxt is the traffic controller? AIG wont take the directory the psxt. Advise?

Hi, with this system we have to eliminate the RLTS (Russian Live Traffic System) mod that works well with AIG? What do you advise ?
If this is going to be used for both in the Sim as well ast VATSIM, is the in game multiplayer on or off?
with these addons the ATC clearances etc still works? or it's just not compatible with mfs atc features?
I am not getting any traffic. I think my psx and real traffic setting could be wrong. I dont know what mode to be in for example. Where could I find a tutorial on the initial set up. I already had AIG WITH THE TRAFFIC CONTROLLER WHICH WORKS FINE???

I still try and try but no way to work. PSX is always tell me automatic search has not found.switch off automatic and set folder parameters, or this coming up 48: set parameters to your livery first - but where?

Wasn’t there already a 3-part traffic addon for free? I think I had it last year. I’m using Simple Traffic now and it not very good, with low flying aircraft all clumped together, and terrible models, it’s ridiculous. So you highly recommend this Chris?
Just try the one month subscription and you can see if it’s something you’d like to pursue. I’ve been trying the $19.99 month and I don’t regret it at all. I love it but that’s me. It’s worth a shot
How does this work with default airports with runways, gates, taxiways, SIDs/STARs, etc. that don't necessarily conform to reality. Does with Navigraph data make any difference?
Hey man just installed AIG and everything is sweet, just a question do you have issues with the ai not flying any higher than 10,000ft ? They seem not to go any higher and some only fly at 2000ft, or is it a bug with AIG hopefully this makes sense. And I love your content.

Can the AIG AI Traffic Manager also download GA aircraft models and if so how? I can only see how to download AI models from the flightplan screen.
This combination injects also gliders en GA traffic. But AIG doesn't have gliders and GA. How does't work then?

Seeing Uganda Airlines CRJ at Alcantra is a bit of a duff representation. If it’s loading fake liveries as representative of real airlines, I’ll wait for Just Flights product to be released, especially considering the subscription prices and still not an accurate representation. Pretty but……
Thank you for the video. I think this WILL be the best live traffic add-on, if and when they get this to interact with the MSFS ATC. One other issue I've noticed that is quite major is that I do not see traffic coming in to land at the airports. The real life traffic that is coming into land simply spawns directly onto the runway. I also do not encounter any traffic once I'm in the air. Is this experience the same for everyone else, or is there a setting I'm missing?
I have the same issue with landing traffic. Were you able to resolve this?
@@spee64 Yes I overcame that issue. Exit RealTraffic, delete the file C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\InsideSystems\RealTraffic.ini and restart RealTraffic.

Oh dear another problem I hope someone can help with... Real traffic starting and showing traffic in spotter mode i then switch to Sim (MSFS). When I start PSX I get the error No valid LIVERIES_FOLDER parameter. I think settings in real traffic are ok, it is set to communicate with psxt. Anyone have any idea what I should do. It was great yesterday.
Great Vid! Not sure if this has been asked yet but what is the difference between the "free" AIG Traffic manager and RealTraffic? Also how does this interact with software like Pilot2ATC or other software programs for ATC?

Aig does not have the liveries of ITA Airways, the new Alitalia (to understand), do you know if using this is solved in any way? if there is the possibility to add them manually or something else?

I’m going for it tonight! 👍Will try one month. Because the free AIG Traffic app is still not very realistic and aircraft movements are very few and often ridiculously comical.
Installed RealTraffic very quick and easy, about 10 minutes from purchase to setup! However, I can’t seem to be able to figure out what the MSFS in-game traffic settings should be. If I turn it off, I see no aircraft at airports. If I turn on AI, and set sliders all to 100%, I get tons of traffic. Is that correct? Can’t find developers recommended settings on this.
How did it work for you? I cannot get PSXT to find liveries! So frustrating!!
@@aviationnexus6101 All is good. There are some issues with RT. Apparently at most airports we don’t see aircraft taxiing, and they vanish after landing, because their transponders get turn off. They list the few airports that we will see full movements. Also, the injected aircraft don’t see you so on final they fly right over or through you. You have to turn off Traffic in-game and turn up the aircraft on ground slider 90-100%.
As it stands, I wont renew this after the one month. Apparently you can use AIG Traffic with PSXT (for free)!
I don’t know why your PSXT wont find your liveries. It takes a few minutes. Is the checkbox for liveries and airports checked?
The liveries at KLAX (at the beginning of the video) don't make sense. One example (out of many), was that I saw a regional airline (based out of South Africa) parked at the gate at Los Angeles Airport. That doesn't make sense. Other than that, it looks like a really cool feature!
The actual real world aricraft probably doesn't have an AIG livery. I get the same thing at Sydney Airport in Australia. Regional Express now flies 737-800s but there's no AIG model, so it spawns as anything from South Western to El Al, neither of which fly to Sydney.
How about the traffic on the ground and things like taxi, landing or take off? My problem with AIG is the traffic behavior on the ground. Aircrafts stop in the middle of runway, start turning around, blocking taxiways, not taking off, problem to find right parking spots, missed approaches and .... While this tool uses the same AI models, did you experience any unusual movements on the ground?
Those issues are all Asobo/Microsoft related. Don't expect this to bypass this.
Hello, greetings, one question, do you know how to put the boarding pass of people in transparent and that the graphics in MFS2020 look good? Another question, do you know how to put the air traffic in an application free ?

I like aig but have never seen a correlation between the traffic and flight radar 24. I'm going to give it a go for a month and compare

@@shodancat1000 it's superior to to aig traffic in the sense it is exactly the same as real world traffic. I timed the delay fro flight radar as as little as 10 seconds most of the time. It really is good but one thing let's it down compared to AIG... Real traffic does not communicate with msfs ATC as aig does. Both great products, one free, depends how much the ATC interactions matter. For me to look out from the cockpit and seeing a 777 taxiing at Heathrow for a departure to Beijing in realtime in the simulator is a winner for me. I will pay the monthly fee. As and when I am IFR flying from big airports as I like Vfr GA flying from small aerodromes just as much and tend to swing between them. Give it a go. Works a dream.

I have tried everything to get Psxt to pick up the liveries. It will not pic them up automatically. I have MSFS steam addition. It tells me to enter path in this file for the liveries. I know where that is , but then another error comes up and says I need to install the add on airports and the MSFS original airports.I thought the add on airports is in my community folder but have no idea how to find the original airports. I spent 8 hrs trying to figure it out.. I have the aigmanager and aigtraffic working but not the new stuff in this video. Any ideas. Anyone.?

Yeah, I gave up and uninstalled it after spending a full weekend trying to get it to go down all the correct paths. I went on the developers site and he was saying the steam version has so many different paths to install MSFS2020. There is not just one path for the steam users. I wasted a weekend when I could have been in the headset flying and just be happy with what I have. What irks me is that I paid to use the real traffic program. Oh well, I'm right there with Mick Partlett in the comments. Yeah, AIG was a snap to install compared to this. Every time I thought of a new idea to get it to link up, I was swatted down by a error code of something. Im done..lol
Am I reading this right - $89 a year is the cheapest price to have working live air traffic in FS2020?
@@PIEINTHESKYTOURS its too expensive for me. I know a lot of work goes into these very bespoke and specialised bits of software but the pricing is way over the top, especially given the current economic climate. Why not price it a lot less and sell it to a lot more people? It just seems like an odd way of marketing something.

You do not need to run AI-Manager. You would only use that to install the flightplans.
@@calvinparker4278 why do you need to install flightplans? Isn’t real traffic and that other program creating the real traffic plan?
AI-Manager just provides the models and liveries. If you install them all, you get something like 5,000+ liveries and models so that the planes that get injected by PSXT from RealTraffic actually look correct.

I use AIG traffic manager but it puts random airlines at random airports. Like EasyJet at Miami International or Haneda. Can’t find a fix anywhere
AIG doesn't do that, it's your settings in the sim. Turn off your Ground Traffic under the Traffic options.

What about the problems that aircrafts dont climb after take off, spawn at low altitudes, stuck at taxi ways, go around at landing, dont communicate with ATC etc.? Does those softwares solve these problems?
Yes. all of them.

In the intro shots where you are droning over the airport (and later too actually, like the plane crossing the runway) , there is a bit of stuttering going on,like the frame times aren't quite consistent. Is this normal? I've been having a similar issue recently and it's driving me nuts. Never had an issue with this before SU8. Is this something that one simply has to deal with or does anyone else find this problematic and that it should be better optimized to provide more consistent frametimes?
Not unimportant to mention is that the license gives you access to the software, and therefore DOES NOT guarantee constant good live services.
One Question. I don't get it. Can I still use the MSFS ATC? Is it interacting with the live traffic?? I don't think so. Whats in a case of a turn around or something like this? I think it's senseless to have real live traffic but no ATC!?
No ATC won’t be active with only RealTraffic. Yes you can still use MSFS ATC only for MSFS live ai traffic so you can enable live traffic in sim. As stated in the video you may experience duplicate at times but it’s very rare I hardly notice it myself. What do you mean by turn around?
@@highaltitude787 What if I'm standing on the Runway and one of the real traffic airplanes are landing. Will they do a turn around because the runway is blocked. If the traffic is just injected from real life it will not turn around I assume?! I don't really understand how it works.
@@ncc1701dd I understand now. Ok since RealTraffic doesn’t interact with MSFS ATC and follows the real world satellite data it will continue to land. Will not perform a turn around. It’s not a bug it’s just that it’s not coded into the sim. But it’s rare, the pros of the software out ways the cons. Seeing multiple planes at cruising altitude, accurate liveries, accurate plane models, planes parked at the correct gates, (first time I see FedEx, DHL, ups, etc planes and parked at the correct cargo terminal (not passenger terminal), parallel landing and landing at the correct runways all the time really brings a more true to life experience. If I were you I’d try it for the month and see if it’s worth it for you. I’ve been trying the $19.99 month and love it.
@@highaltitude787 Thank you for the detailed answer. I'm a bit different in what I want. Just seeing these planes don't give me a real world experience because there's no interaction. I'm like a ghost in this world. You know what I mean!? There no plane separation are something like this. An accurate ATC would be way more interesting. Of course I know it's hard to realize with the build in ATC. I Think we still have to wait a long time to make this dream come true.
@@ncc1701dd yea I understand but that’s why I leave the MSFS live traffic on to hear some traffic albeit it’s in sim traffic only. But better than nothing. Hopefully time will come when they can code it to utilize ATC
Whats the difference if I just install AI Manager with the AIG Traffic controller, and not PSXT and Live Traffic?
RealTraffic and PSXT is real time real world traffic. Not pre planned flight plans, not old flight plans etc. but real satellite data time and info with accurate everything. From gate position to runway use and taxi, etc
With AIG Manager, can one just use PSXT alone (instead of AIG Traffic) for better accuracy? Does it require Real Traffic?
@@kennykanada you require an ai traffic plane models and liveries installed in the community folder in order to see live traffic via PSXT and RealTraffic (which you do with AIG). PSXT doesn’t have plane models it just injects the info coming from RealTraffic to the MSFS. PSXT is the middleman.
You can use future ai plane models and liveries such as Just Flight’s FS Traffic still in development, to replace AIG plane models if you choose to do so.

Absolutely love your videos, you do a superb job but sorry for a new person looking at a simple real traffic program this looks worse than AIG to setup. You say its a straight forward process and shouldnt take too long to setup but it uses AIG?? I love AIG but it was and still is painful at times to setup or update/ verfy etc and this program wants to use that and asks for $170 USD a year for thier best package $100 for basic!?!, no thanks, i'll just stick with AIGTC which is free and works extremely well for me even though it took half a day to setup properly. Im sure its got its pros this program but if going to recommend it and people wil then fork out substantial money it needs to be a fully supported standalone product with minimal fuss to setup. Its a pass from me. Also for your info as you state you can get a free month trial they have removed that part now.
It’s way too easy to setup a caveman can do it. As long as you already have AIG installed you’re all done. Positives of RealTraffic, you get real world busy air and ground traffic, very accurate gate parking. Accurate takeoff and landing performance meaning they won’t sit around , they move according to real world aircraft. Even at cruising altitude you get to see and enjoy a plethora of aircrafts in the air with you. Multiple contrails around you. You also get to see all types of aircrafts from GA to airliners and cargo. It’s cool if some don’t want to subscribe. But if you want that extra awesomeness and realism then it’s definitely worth it in my opinion. At least try the one month. I tried the $19.99 for one month and I don’t regret it one bit.

Hmm 🤔. While it looks like an excellent program to get more realism into the sim, I must say the asking subscription price is way out of wack. There’s a program I worked on (beta tester) four years ago for another flight sim that has made leaps and bounds and quite frankly, does the same. And it’s free! I may subscribe for a month to test this (I’m a curious type) but I guarantee I won’t continue paying a subscription who’s cost is out of the ballpark. Not that I can’t afford it, I refuse to afford it! Thanks anyway, you do great work. But please choose your sponsors wisely. IMO, this is a ripoff.
It is not easy to get running after you pay for it...!😡
It doesn't even work that well. Model matching was sometimes terrible and the planes move in little pulses every 1 second both on the ground and in flight. For the money being asked for it should be fantastic but it isnt.
I thought AIG did all this on its own.
But paying mpnthly so much just for realistic traffic thats moneymaking pay once would be okay but monthly thats just a crime

Thanks for your video. However the product is horrible. I mean real traffic app. I gave it a try yesterday, bought one month license and literally asked for refund after 3 hours of testing. Bear in mind, I have very good and powerful PC, but the fps lost on bigger airports is not acceptable with such costly application. The only pro is the fact that it does inject live traffic as in real world. That part works fine but cons are, that traffic looks jerky, almost like sideshow of each 2 seconds interval. For example aig traffic control app does not do that, it's smooth and most importantly it's free. I feel like developer went way too crazy with prices. Also you do mention no performance drop, but that's incorrect info, as there is definitely performance hit, specifically on big airports. My system does easily 50 to 60fps steady, 2k resolution on ultra settings, when using this, performance easily drop halfway down mainly while on busy airport
Yes its stuttery both on the ground and in flight. The developers response on the support forum was basically "it is what is is, if you dont like the stuttery flight, this program probably isnt for you". I thought that was a fairly dismissive response from the developer considering no other AI add-on program including enhanced live traffic has stuttery flight characteristics. It suggests something is amiss with the way that this works.

Love your channel you do a great job. However Setting up AIG Ai Traffic was a breeze compared to PSXT. I've spent the best part of a morning trying to get it to recognise My Addon Airports folder, tried every paremeter under the sun without success. Why make something so convoluted to set up? needless to say its now in the bin. Maybe it doesn't play well with Addons_Linker and a series of sub folders for different continents?
It took quite a bit of fiddling to get it to recognize my addon folders since I dont use default locations. Once it was set up it worked fine repeatedly.
Same issue, not at all like the video tutorial, Nor do any PSXT instructions make any sense... So frustrated!!!
