    Dude, this video just saved my butt. I didn't take a photo of those two linkages before I tore stuff apart, and your video helped me put things back together. Thanks a bunch!

    I just wanted to say thanks for the step by step video. This saved me a ton of time and allowed me to replace my Craftsman 6.0HP carburetor and avoid a small engine repair shop visit and charge. No more leaking gas.

    I have the same exact mower and now have the confidence to replace the carb. When running right it is a GREAT lawn more and I cut close to an acre with it weekly. Thanks

    Thanks for the detail of the video. I had the linkage on incorrectly. I seen on other videos where people said they paid only around 35$ for the carburetor; I paid $90 at the local small engine parts store. It's still cheaper than buying a new lawn mover.

    Thanks for straightening me out as to where the spring attached to the governor arm. I do have one question though. The manifold to head gasket broke when I took it off and where does one get a new one? Or maybe some kind of gasket in a tube would work OK. Any recommendations? Again, thanks, a great time saver.

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  Před 2 lety +1

      I get those gaskets from my local small engine repair shop. With an engine model number, they should be able to get the correct gasket.

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  Před 3 lety +1

      @@lukeWiz44 sounds like a leaking inlet needle or hole in the float. Time to rebuild or replace the carb. You can get then pretty cheap from Amazon or Ebay. I keep some in my garage because sometimes it's just easier to put a new one on.

  • @andie_pants
    @andie_pants Před 3 lety

    Do the cheap Amazon carbs work? Considering they're all around $13-ish on Amazon but $70+ from OEM suppliers, I'm a tad skeptical.

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  Před 3 lety +1

      The carbs that I have are aftermarket. I think I paid about $22 each. Take a chance on the cheap carbs! Tecumseh went out of business back in 2008 anyway. Thanks for watching.

      @@RealManSkills You're welcome! Videos like these are 1000 times more valuable than the usual popular BS I watch. Mind if I ask a question? Same engine... I ended up buying a carb rebuild kit and cleaning everything up all nice and shiny, so now my mower runs so much smoother and at higher RPMs, but still bogs way down when I hit slightly taller grass, even with a freshly sharpened blade. Any obvious fixes aside from digging into rebuilding the engine (or just getting a new dang mower?)

    • @RealManSkills
      @RealManSkills  Před 3 lety +2

      @@andie_pants It's possible that your engine is old and tired. Probably not worth your time to rebuild it. You might consider re-powering it with a Predator engine from Harbor Freight. I have such a project planned but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. Another issue is that the carb is blocked and when it needs to get more gas, it can't - but you rebuilt it so unless you missed something.......

      @andie_pants Před 3 lety +1

      @@RealManSkills Hell, even in my IT training there was a hardware class where the instructor drew the line between repair and replacement. Looks like I've hit the f--- it barrier. Home Despot has some new DeWalt brand mowers that caught my eye the other day.

    • @SM-hf5dj
      @SM-hf5dj Před 4 lety

      I bought the cheapest one on Amazon $11. It works and comes with a new spark plug, air filter and extra accessories. No idea how they make money.
      I should have watched this video first. Fixing the exact same mower.
      I came here to see where the linkage goes because I didn't pay attention while removing. I watched some other video before starting and he didn't remove the exhaust or intake tube like in this video. People shouldn't make videos if they don't know what they are doing. Intake removing would have made the job 21% or so more efficient. Thanks for the video bud!
