I've had many of these interactions, and I greatly respect people who can understand and reconise that. Mike was ready to die or kill someone else. He needed to leave, reconised it, and did it. It was incredibly emotionally mature.

Mike may God touch and heal your heart, i had my time with drugs and alcohol after a wife took my daughter from me and didn't get to see her after that, was in my early 20s and when i turned 27 i stopped all that and realized that is never the answer to anything in life for me or anyone, drugs and alcohol destroys never fixes.
