    Author, orator, and all-around ‘science guy’ Bill Nye has been asked a lot of questions in his 30 years on the air. But this time around, Bill gets asked a question almost Biblical in nature: is there such a thing as true free will? Of course, Bill gets right down to the nitty gritty and tells us what exactly is going on in our brains as we begin to make any decision. Is the idea of "choice" real or is choice just an idea in our heads? Are our brains inventing our own answers before we’ve even thought them through? The answer might surprise you. Bill Nye's most recent book is Unstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    BILL NYE:
    Bill Nye, scientist, engineer, comedian, author, and inventor, is a man with a mission: to help foster a scientifically literate society, to help people everywhere understand and appreciate the science that makes our world work. Making science entertaining and accessible is something Bill has been doing most of his life.
    In Seattle Nye began to combine his love of science with his flair for comedy, when he won the Steve Martin look-alike contest and developed dual careers as an engineer by day and a stand-up comic by night. Nye then quit his day engineering day job and made the transition to a night job as a comedy writer and performer on Seattle’s home-grown ensemble comedy show “Almost Live.” This is where “Bill Nye the Science Guy®” was born. The show appeared before Saturday Night Live and later on Comedy Central, originating at KING-TV, Seattle’s NBC affiliate.
    While working on the Science Guy show, Nye won seven national Emmy Awards for writing, performing, and producing. The show won 18 Emmys in five years. In between creating the shows, he wrote five children’s books about science, including his latest title, “Bill Nye’s Great Big Book of Tiny Germs.”
    Nye is the host of three currently-running television series. “The 100 Greatest Discoveries” airs on the Science Channel. “The Eyes of Nye” airs on PBS stations across the country.
    Bill’s latest project is hosting a show on Planet Green called “Stuff Happens.” It’s about environmentally responsible choices that consumers can make as they go about their day and their shopping. Also, you’ll see Nye in his good-natured rivalry with his neighbor Ed Begley. They compete to see who can save the most energy and produce the smallest carbon footprint. Nye has 4,000 watts of solar power and a solar-boosted hot water system. There’s also the low water use garden and underground watering system. It’s fun for him; he’s an engineer with an energy conservation hobby.
    Nye is currently the Executive Director of The Planetary Society, the world’s largest space interest organization.

    TRANSCRIPT:
    PETE: Hey Bill. It’s Pete from Atlanta, Georgia, and I was wondering if you believe in free will? It feels like the idea of choice is the biggest argument for free will, but is choice real or is it just an idea in our heads? If I look at my life I feel like I’m here through a series of single decisions and it just kind of feels very linear and kind of on a track. But I’m not so sure. What do you think about it? Thanks.
    BILL NYE: So is there such a thing as free will? The answer is clearly “it depends what you mean.” So I am so compelled by these tests where they have brain scans going on, working real time, and then the subject is asked to make a choice. And they can see on the brain scan that the choice has already been made before the person is able to articulate it or even watch the choice had been made have it bounce back and forth and then settle on another choice.
    This is a wonderful question, but that there is no free will-that, to me, is an extraordinary claim, because I feel that I have made choices - and this might be what you’re driving at-I feel that I have made choices freely based on things that have happened around me, based on the environment and my experiences and my perception of the experiences of others.
    So in other words if there really were absolutely no free will could you then predict what every single person in the universe or on Earth is going to do and where he or she will end up. And then furthermore can that not be influenced by some cosmic force or forces that we can’t assess? It could be. It just doesn’t seem reasonable.
    I think much more reasonable is: our brains are complicated, and they got t...

      REDDIT Is LITTERALLY THE WORST Website On The Internet. They Keep Banning Me, When CZcams Bans Someone From The Comments It's Temporary, But When F.U.C.K.I.N.G REDDIT Does It, It's Eternal Oblivion.
      F.U.C.K REDDIT!!!
      ITS AWFUL!!!
      IT'S TERRIBLE!!!!!
      REDDIT ALSO SUPPORTS, ANTITHEIST RACISM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      ITS LITTERALLY THE WORST SITE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
      If I Ever Come Across A Reddit Plushies I Would Burn It In Live Camera.
      I Would Litterally Burn Down The Reddit Building And Then Litterally EXPLODE If I Get Arrested, I Should Go To Heaven For Destroying Such A Horrible Place.
      CZcams Is The BEST Website Ever When Compared To F'U'C'K'I'N'G Reddit.
      I Would Give This ZERO STARS If I Could, Actually Less, NEGATIVE FIVE Stars Is What I Would Give If I Could.
      That's How TERRIBLE Reddit Is, It's AN ACCURSED DICTATORSHIP!!!!!!!!!
      DISGUSTING!!!
      People (The Guests That Make This Show FUCKING POSSIBLE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!!) Call The Atheist Experience Then The Atheist Experience Treats Them Like Crap And Calls Them Stupid.
      What A TERRIBLE Way To Treat Their Guests.
      You Show No Shame.
      You Have NO RIGHT To Call Your Guests Stupid.
      The Only Thing These People Are Stupid For Is FUCKING CALLING The Atheist Experience, NOBODY Should Call Such An EVIL Show That Treats Their Guests Like Shit, So If You EVEN DARE To Call These People (YOUR GUESTS) Stupid, Then SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!
      Religion Improves Lives.
      There Are No Victims Of Religion.
      I Am Going To Start Off By Saying;
      WOW! Okay So Everything You Said Is Ultra Stupid, First, The Truth Is That CONCIOUSNESS Cannot Be Created Or Destroyed, Said So By Physics (Which You CLEARLY Know Nothing About) Second, There Is A GOD But It Never Answers Prayers Or Intervenes In Any Way Because Of What People Did 2020 Years Ago. Third, The 21 Grams Lost When We Die Is The Soul Leaving The Body, And Finally Near Death Experiences Proved That There Is An AfterLife. So You Are Clearly Dumb, Atheists Defys Science Therefore Atheism Is Stupid, Nihilism Defys Physics Therefore It is Stupid.
      So Damn Your Ultimate Stupidity And Stop Spreading Satanic Lies And False Information.
      Consciousness Comes From The SOUL And NOT The Brain, We Are Spirits That Have A Body And If You Fail To Comprehend The Most Scientific FACTS Then You Are IDIOTIC!!!!!!!!!!
      As A Nihilist You Defy Physics And Lie About It Just To Bully People, How Immoral And Stupid Are You?
      I Think You Are Just Fucking Scared Of The AfterLife Because You Want To Live In Your Sins😂💥🔫
      Without A GOD, You Are A Worthless Peice Of Shit ROFLMAO😂🤣😂🤣
      Without An AfterLife, Everything You Do Is Completely Meaningless ROFLMAO 🤣😂🤣😂
      Yeah Sure The Brain Damage Can Alter Your Personality, But You Would Still Be Aware, That Is YOU The Soul.
      Souls Have Also Been Proven To Sleep And Faint, Which Is Why Near Death Experiences Are Confusing But 100% Real.
      THERE IS AN AFTERLIFE YOU FUCKING SHITPISS SCUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      Yes There Is Most Likely A BeforeLife
      What Are The Chances Of YOUR Sperm Cell Making It To The Uterus?
      1/1000000!
      It's Likely That You Were A Sperm Cell That Died Then Became A Sperm Cell That Made It To The Uterus.
      Think About It, If Your Sperm Cell Died Then You Would Have Still Been In Oblivion.
      There Was Nothing, An Organism Was Born, It Had YOUR Awareness.
      It's Likely To Happen After You Die;
      Nothing, Organism Born, YOUR AWARENESS!!!! Life.
      As A Spiritual Person I Think This Show Is Ectoranium To Ghosts, But You Must Treat Your Guests With Respect! Okay?
      Atheists/Nihilists/Antitheists Are LIARS!!
      GOD's Ultimate Program Has Been Left Behind.
      The AfterLife Has Been Proven To Exist In Near Death Experiences And Out Of Body Experiences.
      Ghosts Have Been Seen.
      People Remember Past Lives.
      Atheists Spread FALSE WITNESS All The Time.
      Oblivion Seems Like A Whole Lot Of FICTION!!
      Like You Just Escaped The Entire UNIVERSE And All Of EXISTENCE You Escaped SPACE And TIME.
      You Escape REALITY!!!!!
      So THAT IS TOTAL FICTION!!!!!!!!
      The AfterLife Makes A Whole Lot More Sense, Because You STAY In The Universe, Existence, Space And Time, And Reality.
      You Atheists Talk About Thinking REAL But The Ironic Thing Is That If You Escape Reality Then That Makes It The FURTHEST Thing Away From Reality.
      The AfterLife? Now THAT'S Talking REAL ! Because You ACTUALLY STAY In Reality.
      IDIOT!!!
      FOOL!!!
      BUFFOON!!!!

      @ً I get what your saying but I think 'bullshit reasons' is very harsh. Many people have witnessed things in loved ones as they passed, many people who have had near death experiences have claimed seeing this or that. This is not even counting Bible or religious beliefs and whats written there. Not 'knowing' what happens after death? sure. 'Bullshit reasons' because they don't want to admit they are wrong? Certainly not the case in many people.

Once upon a time, the most brilliant of minds once believed the earth is flat and that the atom was the smallest thing ever. I think that thinks like the afterlife, gods, angels, demons, and ghosts are just too complex for human brain to process and understand even with modern science

Also, you do know that everything they show on History Channel isn’t true right? After all this is the same channel that had the show Ancient Aliens. I only believe in things if I have had first hand experience. I don’t blindly believe in something just because people say it or just because it’s on the History Channel. I have never experienced anything weird at my own house so my conclusion as of now is that ghosts aren’t real and that there’s a rational explanation for what these people saw. Now, if I ever experienced something unexplainable I may change my mind, but as of now that’s what I believe.

It felt like someone came in the room and was watching me. I wasn’t the only who experienced something there. My mom had a dream about a random man and told my neighbor about what the man looked like. My neighbor found a stack of old photos from the house I cleaned up and my mom saw the same man in the one photo. It was her husbands great grandfather who also died in the house. I am fairly confident that house in haunted.

    An open letter to people who use the term, "life energy"....
    Energy is not a nebulous word with a mysterious aura surrounding it. Energy is, in fact, objective, quantifiable, and extremely specific. How many joules of "life energy" does it take to power a 15-W light bulb for an hour? Is it more, or less entropic than mechanical energy? Is it conservative, is it potential? Either these all have very specific answers, or you might as well start replacing the term "life energy" with "fairy magic."
    There's no doubt in my mind that people will read this and get all defensive, start accusing me of being narrow minded or whatever. But please understand, you're pointing to a mail box and calling it a light house: it would be wrong of me not to inform you of the difference. If what you mean is the spirit, then perhaps it would be best to just say the spirit. This is, of course, entirely up to you. What if consciousness is the most fundamental thing of the universe, instead of being an emergent property. Whithin the field we call reality, sentience can emerge, but not consciousness. Consciousness was always there to begin with. That's why no one has ever lost consviousness in this life: Because losing consciousness is not an experience, so you won't experience the time of unconsciousness, meaning you will always be conscious - it's the fundamental thing of reality.

      @Fred Fannakapan But did you experience the loss of consciousness while you were unconscious? If not, then that's my point: you can't experience the time of unconsciousness, and if you did experience it, then you weren't unconscious. Point being that consciousness for you is a continuous and eternal property that is the only thing that doesn't change: only the space of it, or the content of consciousness changes, and whatever that content is you have no way of telling for sure whether it's real or not. What you and a lot of people must really mean when talking about "loss of consciousness" is merely the mind shutting off, not working, or losing its memory, but neither of the properties related to that, which roughly speaking makes up the psychology and accumulated, but impermanent mind patterns, are what we could call pure consciousness, or awareness.

    I consider myself a rational person. I cannot absolutely discout the possibility of life after death (or some sort of existence, anyway). The universe is vast and incredibly strange, and the nature of consciousness has not yet been fully accounted for. So, maybe, just maybe, this life is not all there is.
    However, I am absolutely sure that anyone who claims to have any knowledge, certainty, evidence or hope of life after death is either a charlatan or has succumbed to (very natural) wishful thinking.

      @DodderingOldMan Před 7 lety +10

      Josh Partridge I'm not saying that we shouldn't give people who claim to have knowledge a chance. We have. Many people throughout many decades have subjected their claims to much scrutiny, and have come up with absolutely zero credible evidence of the truth of their statements. That's where my surety comes from.
      However, science has extreme difficulty proving a negative (indeed it is arguably impossible). That is why I say I cannot absolutely discount the possibility of life after death.

    • @DodderingOldMan
      @DodderingOldMan Před 7 lety +6

      ***** What exactly are some of the things you're assuming I don't say 'I cannot absolutely discount' about?
      Technically I cannot, indeed, absolutely discount the existence of Santa Claus. I can say with an extreme degree of certainty that he does not exist. And, as I suggested in my first comment, I am almost entirely certain that there is no form of existence after death. But I would deem the possibility of existence after death almost infinitely more likely than the existence of Santa Claus. Although these two things are both massively unlikely, there is still an important difference between how we can assess that teeny, tiny likelihood.
      The supposition that Santa Claus exists posits a world which is vastly different from the world we apparently inhabit. His existence would overturn our understanding of reality itself, in many different ways.
      The supposition that there is existence after death, however, would not necessarily have to overturn quite so much. Yes, it would have to overturn the notion that our consciousness is entirely the product of the physical structure and chemical makeup of our brain. And that's one hell of a big concept to overturn, no doubt. Any attempts to demonstrate otherwise have met with zero success.
      But given that the precise nature of consciousness is not known (and may never be known), the concept of existence after death would not have to overturn as much of our knowledge. Is that evidence for its existence? Absolutely not. But it is sufficient for me to say that, yes, it cannot be absolutely discounted.
      As a side note, the fact that consciousness seems to be entirely the result of physical structures actually seems to me to not entirely negate the possibility of life after death, and may in fact enhance it. If my consciousness truly is the result of a combination of atoms, electrons, quarks and whatever, arranged in a certain way in a certain pocket of spacetime, then in a manner of speaking I'm already immortal. You can't kill a combination, after all. You can disassemble it, but it can be reassembled too.
      Anyhoo, that's just idle speculation.

    I'm a total skeptic. But I was working upstairs in an old house and I legit heard normal footsteps run up the stairs and stop at the door. It was so normal sounding that it didn't even make me feel anything except expecting to see someone open the door and enter the room. The steps had weight to them like a real person just happily quickly coming upstairs and to the door... well, I was looking at the door waiting on whoever was there to come in and never even thought of it not being a living person until I waited long enough to get up myself and go open the door to see who it was and why they were just standing there. I swear to you, NO ONE ELSE WAS IN THE HOUSE. NO ONE WAS AT THE DOOR AND NO ONE WAS ON THE STAIRCASE. Please someone explain this to me!! I'm not a believer in ghosts but this shit was a real phenomenon I experienced and I need to understand it!

    I still lean towards the possibility of an afterlife, but the most significant argument I've ever heard in support of oblivion is this one:
    Ok, so let's say there IS an afterlife, and you go to it, and it's great. Does your dog or cat go to an afterlife too? It's probably different. A simpler afterlife, one more suited towards the blessings a housepet would enjoy. What about rodents, fish, birds, and lizards? An afterlife even simpler? What about bugs and spiders? Wow, such a simple afterlife. A patch of grass, a fern? All it desires is to stretch out under the sun. What about microbes? Ah, an afterlife filled with amino acids to nibble on. Viruses? An afterlife filled with DNA to merge with? Rocks? Do rocks get an afterlife? Do rocks die? Is the afterlife of a rock filled with hills to roll down? Life is a flawless gradient from simple to complicated. Where's that line where this entity gets an afterlife, and that one doesn't.

    Every time I've ever heard a ghost story touted to be not just a shared misconception of physics and shadows meaning a cloaked yet present personality is reaching out from the grave for my attention, I have never yet been too impressed. It's always "you'll have to do better than that" for all these decades I've lived so far. There are better things rooted in reality that are more inline with adult thinking like inventing and fixing what doesn't work or work out in the long run.

Literally everything has an explanation you just might not know what it is. People have been having obe's since forever, that alone proves we aren't limited to our physical bodies. So called scientists like him aren't real scientists, they are paid shills. A real scientist knows that science is always changing and that anything is possible. Bill if you ever get this message. I was once a skeptic, but I actually out forth the effort to really investigate ghost's. Bill myself and my son's 15 took my Sony recorder / mic . We went to a very old cemetery and out in the recorder and asked several respectful questions. Now again it's myself and my son and it's 12:30 am, nobody around for a couple of miles. I asked a question at the grave sight of the caretaker who basically developed and was influential in opening the old cemetery. I asked hint in front of his grave a question about the cemetery that I couldn't figure out. Nobody could, it was about a bug miseleum at the front of the cemetery that was completely walked off with large stones and cement. I asked the dead caretaker if he could please tell me what that moseleum was used for. I received a crystal clear answer in my recorder that was spoken directly in the mic because it was so clear and loud. In a deep well spoken voice he clearly said " it was used to photograph the dead , it was a very beautiful place for families to photograph there dead ". That was all he would say. Now Bill we were the only 2 people in the cemetery at 12:30 am in the morning and that means voice was spoken into my mic that I was holding in my hand 1 foot in front of me. Since then I've accumulated over 200 EVO's . Here's my offer give me 1 hour if your time and go to that cemetery with me and I am 100 percent possitive by the end of that hour you will hear and see things that even you could not explain baway by science. I have to say this day and age someone as smart as you can just right off something that is so very simple to prove. If Bill Bye is alone in a cemetery with a recorder and gets direct answers through his recorder that are loud clear and intelligent answers to 10 out if 10 questions you ask and your 100 percent alone, How could you refute that evidence. Until you let someone like myself to price this to you, please keep an open mind and stop giving people absolutely wrong answers that look to you for the true answers. My offer stand Bill and if I'm wrong I will now your lawn wash your car clean your house, basically do whatever you want me to do for an entire year, and if imy right all you have to do is just tell someone that asks the question are ghost's real simply say I never thought they were real, but I've heard or have seen things that I couldn't explain away by science. For $25.00 to buy a decent electronic recorder and a short amount of time, this question could be answered. Shame in you Bill if you don't even try this, because the answer is right in front of you and you have an obligation to give people correct answers. Sorry for the long message but I go have a lot of respect for you, but that respect is staying on the back burner until I read it see to hat you at least made the small effort. I hope you try and price me wrong and if you don't well I believe that deep down you know spirits exist but are afraid that your science buddies will make fun if you.👍👻👻

    I honestly wouldn't mind either scenario. Personally, it makes the most sense to me that within each living thing there's energy, and like the law of conservation of energy, it can neither be created nor destroyed, so our life essence would probably get recycled in one way or another. Would we still keep the same conscience? Doesn't seem to be likely. But hey, at least we get to live on in another form, with probably an equal amount of self-loathing.

    • @danielpreciado3112
      @danielpreciado3112 Před 7 lety

We get dispersed throughout the world and universe, much like our matter does, and get converted into other forms of energy. • @danielpreciado3112
      @danielpreciado3112 Před 7 lety

      redlegagent But that's completely disregarding the power that the brain has. From what I've learned just my 2 psychology classes thus far, the brain has a lot of room to develop. Could it be possible that this "life force" is incapable of memory and must rely on a well-developed brain? And yes, every atom in our body does come from stardust but energy isn't composed of atoms is it? It's the melding of the 2 that leads to the creation of life. Although I'm not gonna pretend like I know how all that works because the reality is that nobody knows how it works. We can only speculate and ponder until we can speculate and ponder no more.

    • @danielpreciado3112
      @danielpreciado3112 Před 7 lety +1

      redlegagent I think that our conversation is getting to the point of pseudoscience. While it is thought-provoking all this really is is just speculation. All I know is that we don't know. And that is what frustrates us more than anything. We're a curious lot that wants to know as much as possible. From learning about the mysteries of space to the reason for life to even exist to social intelligence. When we're met with a question that can never be answered a vast number of us can't accept that and will persist to find the answer. I personally don't have a fucking clue but it's fun to hypothesize. I'll just default to the force.

    • @danielpreciado3112
      @danielpreciado3112 Před 7 lety +1

      redlegagent Also there's other explanations for ghosts. I've had several paranormal encounters and all of them were when I was in a fatigued state of mind (hence probably why ghost sightings are usually found during the night). If ghosts are real then there's still the possibility that the energy still maintained intact for a certain time being. Ok, getting any further just makes way too many what-ifs so I'm just gonna stop myself there.

    Love Bill Nye and I think he possesses one of the most intelligent minds the on this earth. I would like to share a personal experience though that made me question the possibility of an afterlife. Back in 2006 I was 20 years old and I was visiting a new friends house for the first time. I had no prior knowledge of the home other than the fact it was 114 years old and built in the old South. I had been in many houses that were old and never had any odd experiences; however, I experienced something I will never forget that day. I was talking to my friend and her mom in their living room and I kept getting this overwhelming feeling of someone watching me and I kept seeing a shadow move in the back room about 30 feet away . I was completely sober and in no way stoned or drunk. After he third time I saw a man appearing in the corner where the shadow had been moving. I looked briefly and saw he had a suit and had the blackest eyes. I didn't hang around. I just simply walked out the door. The girl came out to my car and said "you saw him didn't you?" I told her I definitely saw something and she got a picture from her house of the SAME MAN I saw . Apparently he had been murdered in the 1940s but some said suicide. She said, he appeared almost every night at 9 but would make his presence known when new people came. I just don't know how to explain it. I do believe in God and even though I don't know what waits I do believe there is something in the afterlife and that somehow our consciousness continues. If matter is neither created of destroyed, I wonder where our energy goes. If we do indeed have a soul, is it completely separate and does our energy manifest itself into apparations? I would love any thoughts or similar experiences.

      I was 23 in 2009 when I experienced a ghost-like being in my house (which was only 7 years, but in the South so who knows what it might’ve been (a starving, runaway slave?)).
      My dad would wake up at 4.30 every morning to go to work and anyone who happened to be awake around the same time could hear him yelling about all the cupboards in the kitchen being open (we had those plastic locks that were supposed to prevent them from being opened (we had a cat who craved Doritos and bread)).
      Anyways, I was up late studying when I heard some noises from the kitchen. Considering it was almost 2 a.m. I thought it was strange enough to go check it out. From the top of the stairs I could see the kitchen. The lights were off, but I could hear noises (the wheels of the drawers and the opening of cupboard doors). I said: ‘Hello?’ And immediately the air got sucked out from where I was standing and all of the cupboards and drawers shut creating a loud bang. I basically said: ‘WTF?’ the second before an apparition began running up the stairs towards me, charging with its mouth open. As soon as it reached me the hairs on my neck and arms stood up and I ran back to my room and jumped under the bed covers. Once I calmed down I walked downstairs to find my mom in the kitchen. Apparently she had been woken up by the sound that preceded the ghost’s charge. She asked, ‘What was that?’ ‘A ghost.’ ‘Again?’ Then she went back to bed.

      One of my takeaways is that scientists would have to bring with them slight-of-hand artists like Penn and Teller, because there's a lot of fraud and chicanery in convincing people for instance that a house is haunted, or crop circles are not man-made.
      Another is that it's up to those who make extraordinary claims (e.g. "I saw Bigfoot") to prove that what they're saying is real, not for scientists to run around disproving every lie, delusion, or "unexplained phenomenon," that people come up with.

    The staff at The Great Eastern Hotel in London (not to mention those guests who have frequently stayed there) might attest to "mischievous ghostly" phenomena being "prevalent" due to knocks at the door often happening.
    I was staying in a room there with a Canadian girl in 1986 and on at least three separate occasions I heard a loud, single rap on the door. The room was at the end of a long corridor and there was no other room on the corridor ́s opposite side. On three other occasions she herself, separately, reported hearing such raps.
    Then a Canadian friend of hers came over to London and stayed in another room on another floor and she too reported at least two such raps. "I thought it was you guys larking around!"
    It wasn ́t.
    When I mentioned these, at least EIGHT, separate raps to the guy at the desk downstairs he took it all in quietly and then turned to his adjacent friend, nodded in my direction and said, rather laconically, "Knocks at the door". His clearly unsurprised, indeed somewhat casual manner indicated that he had heard it all so many times from so many other guests.
    THAT was the only such experience of my life. And, in retrospect, what perhaps stands out the most is how none of us was in any way freaked out by it all.
    London ́s Great Eastern Hotel stands on the site of what was for many centuries the Bethlehem Mental Hospital - the first Mental Hospital in the British Isles.
    I mentioned to a friend, who had no particularly clear nor strong views on the supernatural, that after so many centuries of severely mentally disturbed people being on the premises it struck me as highly plausible that some form of deposit would be left behind.
    He thought for a moment and emphatically agreed with "Yes!"

    I’m going to share some of my experiences because I have had strange experiences I cannot explain. And, even after going through these experiences, I am not sure I believe them myself. I am not trying to change anyone’s mind or make anyone believe in ghosts or anything like that. I am simply sharing what I have experienced. This will probably be a bit long, so skip my comment if you don’t want to read a lot. When I was young, I was playing my gameboy downstairs alone. I felt something scary watching me, got to a save point as soon as possible, then put my gameboy on top of my game storage case and ran up into my room. As soon as it was light, I went back downstairs and started playing again. I noticed five of my games had disappeared. No one had been downstairs since me. I know this because we have creaky stairs and you can hear when someone goes down them. I have never since found those games, even after we moved. Another experience, in the same house, was when I was playing a computer game in the office room. We have a door that is pushed to open and close. We have dogs that can open that door, but not close it. I was playing when I saw something black out of the corner of my eye. I turned slightly and clearly saw my dog, Daisy, lying down in the office. I looked back at my computer and kept playing. Next thing I knew, I heard a dog coming down the stairs. It was my dog, Daisy. The door to the office was shut. I have no idea what I saw to this day, but it was not my dog. I have also experienced a table shake fairly violently when no one was around it. There was another time when I was young that I had an experience. I was at a library known for being haunted by a lady. There was a game for children there that was to find the green apple out of all the apples hidden. If you did, you got a free book. I wandered off from all the adults and children. I’m not really sure why to this day. I just followed a feeling. I heard a lady’s voice saying to look under the bush, as I was looking at a tree with a bush. I quickly turned, but no one was there. No one could have talked in my ear then moved away back to the others that quickly. I looked under the bush and the green apple was there. I also had a weird experience with imaginary friends. Most of my imaginary friends I could not see and just ‘knew’ they were there. There was one, however, that was extremely vivid and clear to me. He was my best friend and we would play all the time. I knew all this stuff about his history. I could have just had a vivid imagination, but I do find it interesting that he was the only one like that. If anyone has any explanations for these experiences, I would love to hear them. I have been trying to explain them away for years.

      Without evidence, I think it would be most likely that people staying in such a place are having delusions by the power of suggestion, several nights without sleep and perhaps by poor indoor air quality like carbon monoxide poisoning and other pollutants from the gas stove or oil furnace, (now that a lot fewer people smoke indoors). As Carl Sagan said of supposed alien abduction reports, something might be happening, but it may be happening in the mind.
      With video evidence the greatest likelihood is someone pulling a prank, or lying.
      Finally, those promoting the idea of ghosts, it's up to them to prove it, not scientists to disprove it. For instance, if you record objects moving, seemingly of their own accord, what is the mechanism for that? Scientists can go out to the desert flatland to figure out how stones seem to be moving of their own accord and consider ice forming under them and measuring the wind. People don't just say, "It must be ghosts who like to move stones around."

It's a weird thought, I suppose, but to me, it's accurate. I'm not religious by any means, but I feel that there's something after just from instinct. I knew nobody was home and at that precise time I was in bed in total darkness so yeah. Or that as a kid I was sleeping with my mom and we lived in a very old house on the countryside andI recall my eyes being used to the little light so I could see better when dark and I clearly remember feeling something over my legs, a pressure pushing down as someone sitting, same feeling. I recall opening my eyes and seeing a black figure with pointy red eyes looking down at me from that same position where I felt the pressure as Im feeling and watching. Though I thought nothing of it and kept sleeping afterwards. How can you possibly explain that my mother who was sleeping deeply when this happened, woke me up later that same night to ask me if I saw a black figure with red eyes on the bed? She drew it on paper the day after and it was literally the same thing I saw and felt. I mean I do believe in science and I study it myself but I think some things are yet to be discovered by science. We literally cannot see dark matter or energy, what else can it take to prove ghosts as maybe they exist outside our 3+1 dimension and can maybe skip through the timeline as maybe they just can move in a direction perpendicular to our 3 of space. I knew the best thing to do in that moment was to immediately run in that direction quickly and confirm someone just walked by so i did. No one was there. To this day i think about it almost every day because i have absolutely no explanation for it. My mother also described the same features of this thing or person that we saw. Was it a ghost? I don't know. All i know is what i saw with my own eyes no more than 5 feet from me. What some people believe to be ghosts could just be something completely different. Could be something that can be explained scientifically but we humans just don't understand it yet to be able to do so. I would say maybe my brain just glitched out or sumthin and i hallucinated but there's no reason whatsoever for me to have a hallucination in that moment. Also, my mother described seeing the same thing. Could ghosts just be some sort of geological phenomena of some kind? Who knows. Maybe when we die we leave some sort of imprint in the world we leave behind. Maybe it's a glitch in the Matrix? So, what I'm saying is maybe ghosts ARE real but they aren't ghosts. Just something else we don't know how to explain scientifically yet. But what i will leave you with is why do people report seeing or hearing ghosts from the victorian era or the wild west some times but never sounds or sightings of prehistoric cavemen? Cavemen were once alive and died too right? Also, some ppl will report seeing ghosts of dogs or cats. Why not dinosaurs? Something to think on.

    I saw my brother walking down a street the other day. Scared me so much I pushed on my breaks to pick him up and the car behind me almost hit me. Here's the thing, my brother is dead. He died drunk and high on the streets. And when I saw him, he appeared drunk and high. They say there is 30 minutes of active consciousness after you die. This is it. In the 30 minutes you can transcend time and space, see hear and if the dead visit us during their "30 minutes" it could be in our future so we think that ghost are real. But after that brain activity is up though...it is for the dead. We just are....no more. This is just my theory.

    I believe that our spirits go into a place where we reflect on life, then go to the next one with no memories of the last one, but we still have those lessons in our spiritual mind. And that’s where I believe deja vu comes from.
