    what isn't mentioned unfortunately is that the Greek army didn't just stop after Greece, a lot of Greeks ended up joining the British troops on ships back to north Africa, and they fought in north Africa with the rest of the allied forces till the end of the war.

    When the Greeks were pushing the Italians back into Albania, some people on the Italo-French border, around 1,500 miles away, put up signs telling the Greeks to stop because they were entering France.

    During WW2 Greeks fought against four enemies, Italian fasists, Albanian forces, Nazis and Bulgaria... they resisted for 219 days until the occupation of Crete delaying Operation Barbarossa against Russia (and the Russian winter caught to them), managed the first victory against the axes powers in WW2 and lost 11.7% of the population (Poland 16.5%, Russia 14% and Germany 9%). Last but not least, Greek partisans with British SOE officers executed one of the first major sabotage act in Axis-occupied Europe, destroying the heavily guarded Gorgopotamos viaduct to the disruption of supplies for Rommel's troops in Africa. That 's why Winston Churchill said “Until now we used to say that the Greeks fight like heroes. Now we shall say: Heroes fight like Greeks.”

    There are a lot of old song that you can still do deep dives on their history and I’m curious you will continue with that right? There are a lot of great songs with interesting history beging them so I’m hoping you are still doing that.
    Only brought this up because sabayon has been a bit rare from you recently. Anyway love the reactions keep it up.
    Screaming eagles, Christmas truce, uprising, the end of the war to end all wars, resist and bite and lastly The last battle are all songs I highly recommend going back to and reacting to the history videos of them.

    Italy was so damn incompetent in ww2 I feel bad that the Germans had them on their team since they constantly had to help the Italians. 😂
    It’s kinda a meme in ww2 history community because Italy was super incompetent in ww2 so it’s kinda become a joke.

    • @armityle7138
      @armityle7138 Před rokem +4

      I would say yes and no. The regular soldier was multiple times commended by allied troops e.g americans for their bravery. Unfortunately, you can have the bravest man, if the generals at the head are incompetent, you won't go very far. On top of that Italy was plagued by a horrible supply chain that made germans cry internally...same for italian vehicules. And this issue was there all the way to WW1 back then when the italian troops were sent by gerenal Luigi Cadorna on the exact same front against austrians having the high ground...11 times...This became such meme over Indi's Great War channel that at some point we were saying "fight 9 battles of the Izanzo river, get one free". At the begenning of WW2 Mussolini boasted to Hitler that he had a tons of weapons available...he just forgot to mention they didn^t have enough bullets or shells for all of them...
