As a person who used to eat out all the time and put a stop to it recently I can tell you exactly why. Inflation is on the rise and no one can afford to live on minimum wage let alone $20 and 84 hours a week and some areas. It’s not a livable wage which means it’s not affordable dining activity like it used to be. The quality of the food went down and their prices went up. They discontinued a lot of the items that were really good and we replaced with the least favorite and the shittier ones. Smaller port with higher prices. Discrimination they do things like say there’s a 15 to 30 minute wait with half the restaurant empty and servers playing on their phones whenever I’m sitting alone for some reason people will look behind and they’re staring like it’s weird and I have been alone for years along with so many other people and never had any problems, it is very short staffed. Nobody wants to work for those wages which means times are longer and everyone is stressed out from working twice as hard and they give you that look like they don’t want you there so it makes you think if they spit in your food or do something to it. The food look like a child made it. Literally in most of these restaurants the food looks like your kids made you a meal on Father’s Day. There’s no high-quality place with colors no garnishes no amazing structure like artwork. It just looks like a splat of dog food on your plate, it’s a joke. Last but not least the tipping culture is out of control everywhere I go even when picking up deli subs they have tablets ask me if I would like to tip before I even order or sit down and try out the food. It’s like they try to nickel and dime me I mean really how is it that there is no money for anything?! How is it that there is no shipment of quality food? Restaurant establishments are a total I can cook it home for a fraction of the price and it doesn’t look like a child made it.
Whenever these restaurants have going out of business and closing signs and go out of business. I’ll wave to them and be like good shut down.

Society has broken down in numerous ways over the last 40-50 years, but the billionaire/ultra-millionaire class is wealthier than ever - so mission accomplished.
Totally agree with that comment

ITS CALLED INFLATION & EVERYONES BROKE AS A JOKE
Fast casual dining is declining ! Most of these Restaurants aren't very good anyhow !
Its completely overpriced for what you get and now with the tip culture getting out of hand and servers thinking they deserve an extravagant tip for bringing you a plate of food...people are canceling out dining out......times are tight.....people are buckling down....and they are getting the effects of it......
They charge too much money for bad service.
The service at these restaurants sucks. Usually no host, taking orders on machines and crappy table service.
It’s better to eat at home. You’re less likely to get food poisoning. Your standard of cleanliness might be higher and you control what goes into your meal.
Tooooo damn expensive….
When your paying fast food employees $25 hour and went taco shizzzzz holes are charging f $30 for a plate of f rice & beans f that!
When the pandemic lockdown started, I saw a meme on FB: "So you don't know how to cook? Well you're gonna learn today!" 😄 Restaurants were closed, so lots of people were cooking at home. The pandemic is over but lots of people still know how to cook. Restaurants are expensive? Ok. I have a baking pan, a roast rack, a dutch oven, a mini-food processor, etc. I'll cook a gourmet meal at home.
Exactly. Cooking is an essential life skill anyway. We need to be passing it down to kids instead of having them become dependent on restaurants for life's basics.
Cracker Barrel's food tastes like it all comes out of a frozen meal. I dont go there anymore.
Don’t blame inflation… it all about greed. If these franchises restaurant keep their prices low or affordable, many will love to dine in. It your fault. You drive away your own customers. So don’t feel sorry for them.
Goodbye to Dennys and Cracker Barrell
Never been to either
I hope not my two favorite places to eat.
that would be Neither than..not either in your comment.
Cracker Barrell is actually making some changes. They're about to get a new CEO and they're investing in high end restaurants. Think First Watch or Famous Toastery type places. And they're changing up their menu too.
@@Dakid015 high end Cracker Barrel’s, lol
I’ll go to local diners and pay half
Ruby Tuesday has closed around here. I use to like the salad bar there!
Wow i haven't seen on of those in years
They did have the best salad bar. That's one of the few places I was sad to see go but they couldn't keep employees and kept changing their menu.
We have one in Canton MI (30 minutes outside of Detroit)
I do love Applebee's $35 burger and beer before tax and tip but I might have to downsize to Wendy's $34 burger and "coke".
😂
Recession people arent gonna spend money to be annoyed by a cute waitress that brings you asoda then dissapears. Others just plain cant afford it anymore
there is no recession. President Joe Biden told us that America has the strongest economy in the world. God bless that wonderful man and the prosperity he has brought to America.
@@creepycrespi8180
I’m assuming that’s sarcasm
@@creepycrespi8180 haha gas is so cheap since inflation went down
@@creepycrespi8180 poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.
It’s the quality, not the prices. Applebees and Olive Garden constantly get joked about because of how far the quality of their food has fallen since the 80s and 90s. These restaurants thought they could get away with being cheapskates to their customers by using cheaper ingredients, which of course meant lower quality food that no one likes. They also thought they could get away with understaffing their restaurants while the local fine dining restaurants have plenty of staff. Local fine dining restaurants in my area are constantly packed while these restaurants are empty. Some of these restaurants charge about the same price for their low quality burger as some fine dining steakhouses that serve much higher quality meat and those local fine dining restaurants are always packed as a result.
TEXAS ROAD HOUSE IS DOING EXTREMELY WELL.
Agreed. The one in my town is packed every single night. Has been for the last 20 years when it opened.
Is that the restaurant where you throw peanuts 🥜 on the floor of the restaurant?
@@ArcStormcaller yes, that restaurant does tons of business in every single state, every single city, it's crazy
That’s bc they priced fairly and dare i say their food is actually decent.
True. They are one of the few that seem to be making it. I don't see them on any of these lists.
Lol, I spent $30 for one pizza at Pizza Hut, and was called a liar! Should show my receipt!
You didn't get the special. 1 large 1 topping $22
@@mymobilebuddy4392 I didn't get the special because I didn't want the special. 1-topping? I'll pass.
All resturants get their food from restaurant depot 😂
I stopped going to restaurants when they started this preemptive tipping crap. Tips, after you do something. Preemptive tipping encourages crappy service and crappy food.
All true.
When the pricing is that high it's not casual...
If I'm craving a steak or burger, I can make that at home. The only time I go out is to get asian food, a bowl of pho, sushi, pad thai, or korean bbq. All of these are independently owned too.
Yes! Authentic Asian food never disappoints! 🙌
When the hell are my wages going to increase?
Move to California. The minimum wage there is 20 bucks an hour.
$20 an hour in california is nothing compared to the cost of living, so what would be the point? It's not like you're taking the cost of living with you when you move, lol.
You are going to have to switch jobs for that.
Prepare for the end.
We are almost there.
See, I hear "fast casual" and think concepts like Chipotle & Panera, places with self-service drink fountains & ordering at the register that aren't flat out "fast food." The chains mentioned in this piece are all sit-down restaurants; for middle America they were always one step below eating somewhere upscale, now they've become unaffordable to the common consumer. That's what's being glossed over here.
I just went to Tommy’s and grabbed 2 chilly burger combo for my boys and some chilly fries for myself. It was $60 I was like WTF.
Only the civil service has money like we all did three years ago.
You can't get into civil service. What are you talking about?
Why don’t you do a segment on these CEO’s and the millions they pocket. That I would like to see and will blow people away on what they pocket yearly.
EXACTLY. It's SHAMEFUL.
Some of them make hundreds of millions of dollars.
This! People don’t seem to realize how much money these ceos make.
💯 because there's people that still blame the damn worker getting Chump change instead of the CEO making millions
Better yet do one on dollar store and how prices increase but worker wages stay the same while corporate wages go up
