Congratulations - you are the first American I have seen who can pronounce snooker correctly.

The reason the Foul and Miss were called even though he hit the reds is because if you notice at 6:13 he already pots a red which snookers himself on the colours. He was trying to avoid the reds.

The miss rule is a discretionary call from the referee if they feel that the player has not played an appropriate attempt at the object ball. If this is the case the shot is deemed a "miss" and the opposing player is offered the choice to have the player at the table repeat the shot with the balls replaced to their original positions before the miss was called, or the choice to let the player continue from the new position of the cue ball.
This isn't to say that it was the correct decision by the ref for the circumstance at 6.31 and you can see that they had decided not to call a miss a second time after realising that there was no alternative shot available.
Also the miss was called because Michael Holt was stuck to the pack of reds after potting the initial red, and the next object ball would have needed to be a nominated colour
There is also another variant of the miss rule - if the player at the table has their shot deemed a miss, when NOT in a snooker three times in succession, the player will lose the frame which is then awarded to their oppenent.
Although in this situation, there will always be a warning given by the ref before the third miss called, explaining that failure to make contact with object ball a third time will be frame forfeited.

Nice video mate, loving your snooker reactions. Another thing to spot is when an opposing player taps the table as they approach (either with their cue or their hand) it’s their way of applauding or showing appreciation of the opponent’s shot 👍

There are those snookers that you can only describe as dead naughty.
It's either against the laws of physics or you just woke up from a nightmare.
    Or both.
