5:35 There are tutorial vids where a cue ball with black dots is used, this allows you t see in slow mo (with a 'screw' shot like this one) the ball rotating backwards as it travels forward toward the object ball. This shows that at the moment contact is made with the object ball, the cue ball is still spinning backward... hence why it then starts rolling back...
