I guess I'm not getting why someone would want this SACT disc, when you can just adjust the levels on you processor? What was the SACT doing that you can't do with just level calibration built in?

Depending on the AVR or processor, the tones they play for the levels is not a proper tone. The established standard is band-limited pink noise from 500hz-2khz for the main speakers, and 30hz-80hz for the sub. That's what we use on the Toolkit. On the Denon or Marantz products, the tone they use in the level section is not this. Also, as stated in the other comment, the built-in tones played in AVR bypass any EQ you've applied which can greatly affect the level of that speaker, so EQ should always be taken into account when level matching.

Hey bro, I have the sact but have not actually used it yet, I have browsed through it some to get familiar with it. I have a marantz sr 6015 and when I go into the test tones and scroll to the speakers, the pink noise from the receiver is what I hear. I'm I doing it right?

I’m not familiar with the 6015, but you should have a section in the receiver to just adjust only speaker levels. Like on my receiver I can adjust the speaker levels or I can play white noise.
You can probably even pull up an onscreen display from the remote to adjust speaker levels without interrupting your content.

I would recommend playing the tones from SACT and writing down the measurements for each speaker and making note of the differences in level between them. Figure out the level changes you would need to make in order to get them all equal. Add or subtract those from the levels in your AVR.

Just to clarify: The test tones in your receiver will be raw, without passing through the equalization done by Audyssey. Using the test tones on SACT lets you check for proper levels post-equalization. Because of this, the tones in your receiver will not match what you read with SACT, which is why you want to make note of the required changes and then adjust the channel trims in your receiver accordingly. I recommend re-checking levels after making the changes to ensure that things line up as they should. Unfortunately, D&M receivers don't let you make changes to channel trims without the internal test tones playing, which is why you have to take notes of how much change you need when using SACT's tones.

Interesting didnt know that about D&M receivers. Thanks for sharing that info!
