@WolfeRidgeSplitters
That thing made some nice splits. The fact that it can be easily moved around and stored inside is an advantage over the VS.
Yes it does. I’m still learning the adjustable wedge so once I get that down they should get better! Yes being able to move it by hand is a plus for my operation! I appreciate ya Mike👊🏻
Nice splitting video!! Think you'll really enjoy the 28c!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
I am really enjoying the 28 Pro! I would like to run the Pro 28C to compare. Little faster but most of the same features. Thanks for watching David👊🏻
Nice machine Todd . Definitely a lot easier to move around now you can bring the splitter to the wood instead of bringing the wood to the splitter . . Keep getting that free wood it’s all $ in the bank .
Yes it is. It’s a whole new world of possibilities when ya can move the splitter by hand on relatively level ground! Tree service is starting to get me spoiled😂 I appreciate ya watching Phil👊🏻
Great video Todd! You’re doing an excellent job reviewing these splitters. I find I operate my splitter manually 90% of the time and only using my auto cycle when I’m grabbing another round from a stack behind me or refilling the log lift. I operate it manually so I can stop the back stroke early for faster cycle times. Take care!👍🏻 MADE IN USA!🇺🇸
Thanks. I’m a little rusty on the controls but picking up on it pretty quick! I’m about 50/50 right now just getting use to it. I appreciate ya watching Rod👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Morning Todd , this is the machine I want . After running Rods and watching Bob on wolf ridge , be come to realize I want the hydraulic adjustable wedge , log lift . Great video . Take care 👍🏻🇺🇸🪵
It’s a great splitter Del! I wish I was closer and I would bring it to you for some runtime! As always I appreciate ya👊🏻🇺🇸
@@toddsoutsideagain thank you Todd . I wish I lived closer to you and Rod just so we could hang out . 👍🏻🇺🇸🪵🍺
Like the opening of the video with all that nicely stacked wood! Great splitter! Have a good one Todd.
I do love some neat stacks of wood😂 Thanks for watching and commenting Ryan👊🏻
I have been stockpiling some free wood from power line clearing about a mile away. Wife says I am crazy and cluttering our property but can't beat the price and availability. May have to start selling wood (or donating) LOL.
Well ya can’t beat that!! Stack it deep😂 Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Listen man here’s a little pro tip. If you’re wife’s not complaining about how much wood you have in the yard, you don’t have enough yet. 😂 if I had a dollar for every time my tree guy pulled up and my wife looked at me and rolled her eyes, I wouldn’t even need to sell wood haha.
That's a serious piece of machinery (I might be bias)! I have yet to get anything stuck on mine. That to me is the biggest time saver!
What a huge difference over a boxer! I’m not saying that boxers aren’t capable machines. Although just having the adjustable 4 way wedge is huge! Cant wait to put a ton of rounds thru this baby and get a real opinion on it to share! Thanks Steve👊🏻
I saw Evan looking over your shoulder. I was thinking as soon as you go to load that table back up he's taking the controls and he did. I'm glad I didn't have access to much elm. That stuff is brutal for any splitter. That big round, looked like red oak with the gruby center wasn't even a challenge.
I agree the auto cycle is a must for something like this. Great video Todd.
😂Yup it didn’t take him long! Yeah that grunt out made a mess!Just like potting soil down the center. Auto cycle makes the slower cycle time of this machine not an issue at all. Thanks for watching and supporting Jerry👊🏻
Man Todd, you're getting all kinds of cool stuff to play with😂 they definitely make some wood fast!!
I’m grateful for the colab opportunity and it’s great to be able to pass on the viewers. Awesome splitters for sure. Thanks for watching Jack👊🏻
It's kinda nice to be able to try out different kinds of splitters before you choose the one that works best for your yard. 👍
It’s absolutely an awesome opportunity I have been able to have due to you the viewers!! I can’t say enough about this great opportunity. Hopefully it will help other folks! Thanks Ken👊🏻
She is fast enough for 1 man the auto cycle is worth the extra money great video
I think you are spot on! That’s one conclusion I have came to just in the short time I have had it. The auto cycle is definitely a game changer! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Love that auto cycle setup ! Awesome deal you got with those guys using equipment while you are promoting it 👍
Yes auto cycle is a game changer. I’m blown away to have this opportunity to colab with Norm and Wolfe Ridge! It’s a win win situation for sure. Thanks for watching Tim👊🏻
It looks like another nice machine
Very different but a lot of great features as well. Very nice machine! Thanks for watching👊🏻
Good 1st run 🙂Nice demo video.
Thanks Lyle! I’m a little clumsy with it but I’m picking up fast. Appreciate ya👊🏻
Nice work Todd! Looks like a nice machine, you’ll get the hang of the controls in no time.
Yeah I’m used to just one lever or a foot control😂 Little clumsy at first! Thanks for watching Tony👊🏻
It will be fun to watch you run this machine in your woodyard. I hope you get your hands on a RS model at some point too. 👍
I hope to show plenty of vids for ya on this 28 Pro! It’s a very nice splitter. Well I would have been very interested in an RS as well but Norm currently doesn’t have any in stock. Stay tuned and you just might see me running someone else’s? Thanks for watching Jdubb👊🏻
That's a great machine for sure. You are blessed my man
Yes it is and I’m very grateful for this opportunity! Thanks for watching Derek👊🏻
That is a great entry level commercial splitter. The red and black are my company colors 😜. Keep it busy and see if you can get a bunch more through it.
Yes it is! Huge upgrade from my boxer! I’m gonna run as much through it as I can and really get a good opinion of it. Hopefully I learn something as well as the viewers. Thanks for watching Russ👊🏻
hi there nice splitter , funny while everyone is getting new machines , i just got one over 50 years old . best to all john
Hello John! Your splitter is older than me😂 It still makes splits and it fits your operation so that’s all that matters. I appreciate ya watching and commenting 👊🏻
Great video Todd that is a nice spliter. It want be long and you will be a pro running it. It is a great looking spliter.
Yes it is. I’m gettin little better at the controls😂 I appreciate ya watching Todd👊🏻
Great display of a nice set up!
Thanks Heath👊🏻🇺🇸
Great looking wood yard.
Well thank you! I do like to keep it tidy. I appreciate ya watching 👊🏻
Hey Todd definitely a nice set up on the 28 Pro. The auto cycle and electric start is the way to go. Looking forward to seeing more videos. Take care bud. See ya on the next one.
Yes it is! Auto cycle helps speed up things with the slower cycle time. For a one man operation the slower cycle is not a problem. I appreciate ya Dean👊🏻🇺🇸
Todd, another excellent video and things will go fast once you get used to it I’m sure 👍 of that 😮😊❤
Thanks. I’m planning on putting it to the test today! Already getting use to the controls and learning shortcuts. I appreciate ya Todd👊🏻
Low waste factor - 4x and single wedge. Great video!
Great point! Thanks for watching and commenting Don👊🏻
Nice video Todd!! Pushing the wood into your trailer might be really helpful for you. Taking the splitter to the wood is a huge help in my opinion.
Enjoyed it!! 👊🏻
Yes it has been very nice to let the splitter push into the trailer for the most part. I’m still getting use to the controls 😂 Very nice splitter. Thanks for watching Jacob 👊🏻
Todd, I'm really enjoying these videos.. I always thought the 17VS was the dream splitter for me,,,, but my woodyard is kinda setup for me to bring my splitter to the wood... Looking forward to more content with rhis machine!! Might make me change my mind!
Well I appreciate that! That’s what I’m doing this colab for. To help Norm and Wolfe Ridge but also learn myself and hopefully help folks like you that are watching. Good to hear you are enjoying. Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Nice splitter, and nice video as always 🇧🇻👍
I appreciate ya Fredrik👊🏻
Have a great weekend
Hello Dave! You have yourself a good one too👊🏻🇺🇸
What a nice splitter from Norm.
Before i got the SHO, I was looking at the 28pro line, but since no one around me drives under 45mph (including me😂), I figured the extra cash would be worth it.😉👍
Yes it is! I’m having a blast running it! Yah if you’re gonna plan on towing a lot those wide frame machines are the way to go! Thanks for watching Daniel👊🏻
@toddsoutsideagain : At 1st, my idea wasn't to really tow it anywhere.
But with my parents 20min away and one of the wife's friends 45min away and they need wood split ever few years I figured it would be worth the extra cost just for them and give me a little bit of mobility too.
Great review Todd. My first commercial splitter was a 28 pro… before auto cycle was an option. I sold it and bought a 28C for the auto cycle and faster cycle time. Since I now have the Eastonmade 22-28 with box wedge and conveyor, the 28C gets less use, but it’s still a great splitter.
Thanks. 29 pro seems to be a great splitter where you can get log lift and adjustable wedge a huge upgrade from a boxer at WR entry level prices. Cycle time is a little slow but if you opt for the auto cycle it really helps. Thanks Dick👊🏻
A great baseline splitter with all the options and at an affordable price! Can’t beat that. It sure will be nice you can fit this one in the garage, I’m sure leaving that VS outside bothered you! See ya on the next one Todd👍🇺🇸👊🍻
For sure! Yeah I loved the vs and it really fit in because of the splits it produced, but leaving it outside bothered me😂 I appreciate ya watching Jeremiah👊🏻🍻
Hey Todd, Great score of wood. Love that trailer but you need a big American truck to pull it. The 28 pro is a great splitter from what I’ve seen.
Yeah if ya fully load this dump trailer ya definitely need a heavy duty truck. They do make smaller 5x10,6x12 trailers. I already had the truck to pull the RV so🤷♂️ I’m really liking this 28Pro so far! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
very ice set up keep up the good work fro ontario canada cheers
Thanks. I appreciate ya watching 👊🏻
Nice 👍. Gonna be smokin’ hot over here for a little. Have fun working with the splitter TOA. Catch ya again brother ☑️🍺
Yeah it’s a little steamy over here as well😂 We are gonna put some wood thru this baby and see what we think! Thanks for being here Richy 👊🏻🍻
I bought a 28 Pro a couple of years ago. Not thinking the auto cycle was available at that time. I don't sell wood I burn it in my Central Boiler. But the difference between my 22 ton HUSKEE and the 28 Pro is Biblical. What used to take days just takes hours. Chris stated this is more of a home owner model. Maybe agree. Still faster and less back breaking than any big box store splitter.
You bet it is! That log lift and adjustable wedge is epic coming from a box store splitter myself! The auto cycle is nice but the other features alone makes it worth it. Thanks for watching Gregory👊🏻
A great option for many.
Couldn’t agree more! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Todd, you will get used to the controls in no time as all machines have a learning curve. I'm surprised have much I use it manually and how much I use just the single wedge. I think precision cutting has a lot to do with that but I'm sure glad the auto cycle and 4 way are there when I need them. You and Evan have fun with the pro 28!!
Yeah I’m getting used to them for the most part. Split another face cord today! I think you’re right on the single wedge. I have never had a multi wedge so I get in a hurry when lining up the round and don’t get the splits I’m looking for😂 That being said I was just splitting for bulk wood because we have plenty bundle grade. Thanks for watching Obie👊🏻
Good video Todd,I need to run down and see Norm being its only a hour away..
Yeah it’s pretty cool to have a dealer close. You should. Thanks for watching Ted👊🏻
Matt Fire wood on the hill . Let me run both . I think the 28 pro would be my go to between the 2 . I have a 4409 split fire for my excavator that works well for big rounds .
That’s awesome! Yeah everyone’s situation is different so that’s the reason for different machines. I have already found some big advantages to this 28 pro for my situation. Thanks for watching Jason👊🏻
Nice.
Thanks Bill👊🏻
It’s time to get very serious about firewood for the coming winter
Can’t have too much 😢
I’m stackin it deep. Running out of room 😂 Thanks for watching Phillip👊🏻
Looks good. Could benefit from the stroke limiter too.
You bet. I actually have them I just haven’t put it on yet. Showing it how it is now and then plan on showing what you can do to speed things up a bit in a later video. Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Well I have to correct myself. The stroke limit plates will not work on the 28Pro.
Man, I need a landlord like that. Have one that does what he can w skid steer but he's 82 and more metal than bone from hips down.
Hello Brandon! I might be a little confused 🤔 Oh well thanks for the comment😂
@@toddsoutsideagain your wife's step dad. Clearing field edges like that
@@brandonhoad9033Gotcha😂 Sometimes I get lost keeping up with watching channels and commenting and where I’m at in my own videos. Yeah it’s a pretty good deal to show up to a de-limbed brushless pile of logs! He does great work that I appreciate 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice splitter seems a little slow though! See if I still need two guys you want to split it you want to put them in the wagon! But if you work alone it might be okay! It's better than chopping block and a ax!!😂
Yes it’s a little slower than some but you’re exactly right. Working by yourself it’s about right! Thanks for watching Rex👊🏻
Not sure what is better, free use of the demo splitters or a step father in law that gives you free wood.
I’m very grateful for both! I appreciate ya watching Larry👊🏻
It's pretty slow without the big bore but it's a great machine for the price. I love my 35C
Yes but it fits a nitch for a lot of one man operations at a lower price. The auto cycle and 4way wedge helps. I appreciate ya watching James👊🏻
@@toddsoutsideagain I agree, it’s a great machine for the price.
Does that new stroker limiter plate that Back 40 Firewood recently showed work on this 28 Pro? Wonder if that splitter would have enough grunt to push the output firewood pile to fill up a full sized dump trailer? Are you missing the 17VS-C yet?
I actually have a stroke limiter that Norm sent with me. Just haven’t put it on yet. Trying to show some vids with the splitter and then progress to what you can do to it as we continue to use it in future videos! That 17 VS will definitely be missed but I’m excited to see how some of the other splitters in the WR lineup works for my woodyard situation. I appreciate ya watching 👊🏻
Todd k&L has vertical splitter for sale eastonmade
Yes he does. I’m pretty good friends with Mike! I’m just not ready yet. So many good splitters out there! It’s gonna be interesting to see what he replaces it with! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
You make a good video Todd
Thanks Jeff! I appreciate the positive feedback. That’s what makes it worth it👊🏻
Hi Todd…thinking about getting a 17 vs from norm..are that really that much better for bundle wood versus a horizontal
@@JeffPage-ob9bs In my opion yes. You just have a birds eye view of the wood. You can definitely make bundle wood with a horizontal, but after having the 17VS-C for a couple months I was impressed. Call Norm and ask if you can stop by and run one. He has plenty of wood to split. Tell him I sent ya👊🏻
Another benefit of the vertical is the huge working table. I tend to get more good straight, grained bundle wood out of bigger rounds. The vertical is ideal for bigger rounds because once they’re up on the table with the huge working area, they’re easier to work with.
@@toddsoutsideagain would you get one with the conveyer or without..I already have a 20 ft belt conveyer..also I have plenty of wood as I own a tree service..I currently use a 42 ton North Star horizontal..it’s a beast with a 30 inch stroke
Nice video and great machine. I like the working height as well. Big improvement over the box store splitter.
Thanks. You bet it’s a huge improvement over my box store splitter. Grateful for the opportunity to demo it. Thanks for watching Robert👊🏻
Roll Tide, Evan.
Thanks! Evan is excited. I appreciate ya watching Pam👊🏻
Hey another awesome wood splitting video. That machine is the tits. I throughly enjoy everyone of your videos
Appreciate the positive feedback!! This 28 Pro definitely has some strong points for an entry level commercial. Thanks for supporting Jason👊🏻
Hello Todd and Evan, that’s a nice looking machine however an 11.50 second cycle time on that machine is painfully slow. The VS was quicker than that. Time is money and as far as I’m concerned that machine is way Toooooooo slooooow. Your big box store splitter which is a fraction of the cost of this machine runs around the same speed. Unacceptable for the price point.
Cheers Woody, as always
HAVE A WOOD DAY !!!
Yeah it’s a little slower than the VS was😂 It’s a 10.5 second cycle and yes about the same as my boxer. That being said with the multi wedge splitting capability it does make splitting faster. Plus the log lift really helps. I’m enjoying running it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👊🏻
Nice splitter, they kind of ruined you by giving you the Vs-c first 😂
Well I take what he has available😂 Yeah starting at the top just gave me an idea of what’s possible. I’m really excited to see what horizontal fits me best and hopefully someone else will learn from the vids. Thanks for watching Genin👊🏻
Todd how tall are your trailer sides
Hello Tommy if you’re talking about the Lamar dump they are 24” tall. Thanks for watching 👊🏻
The video I needed to see. Now I have credible information I can use during marriage contract(Section 1 “Money”) negotiations with the wife. Wish me luck.
😂Good luck!! I appreciate ya watching 👊🏻
Todd, if that is your son (and based on the body language) probably... as I have 4 of my own, some gloves and hearing protection but you can't tell these kids anything theses days.
Hello Richard. I appreciate your concern! Yes that is my son that I am very proud of! He had just gotten home when I got the splitter out. He had earbuds under the hood. He only split for a few minutes and then went in and changed. He came out and split for a little longer off camera with gloves on. I don’t have to tell him anything. He is a very responsible young man! I raised him right and it shows. I appreciate ya watching.
The cup. Holder is in bad spot
Where’s the cup holder? I must have missed it😂 Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Way to slow. Get the best a eastonmade spliter!!
I like the theme of these videos demoing different splitters. 🇺🇸
Well Martin it’s one of their slower units but for one man operation a must faster cycle time gets wasted. Especially if you’re using a 4 to 6 way wedge. You have to have time to pull the bigger splits back anyway. It could be a couple seconds faster but still a great entry level splitter in the commercial market. Im a big fan of Eastonmade splitters, but WR is made right here in the Midwest. I appreciate ya watching 👊🏻
@@toddsoutsideagainTodd I might have to agree with you. My 28 Pro Compact is faster than I can keep up with. Has me actually running. To get the most out of the ProC you need three guys.
A Supersplit is way faster and you don’t have all the small waste pieces. 😎
@@codylea3633 Super splits are awesome. I would like one just to make bundle wood. I would still want a hydraulic splitter for the crotch pieces and hard to split wood like Elm and Hickory. Some of our ash even splits real hard
I've never seen people split firewood so small in my life. People in the middle of the United States and back east. If brought that wood split that small to my customers they wouldn't buy from me any more.
It depends on your intentions for use and what kind of wood it is. We sell to 95% recreational burners here they want the smaller splits. Here in the Midwest with a lot of these hardwoods with very high BTUs if we split it as big as you do out west it would take five years to dry.😂 I do split some bigger stuff just for a very limited amount of heating customers we have. If I put huge splits in our roadside stand no one would buy it. Recreational burners want it for campfires and fireplaces. We get told all the time they like the size of our splits. I wish people here liked bigger splits. It’s a lot more work and time to split it smaller. Different areas, different uses, different woods 🤷♂️ Thanks for watching Will 👊🏻
