Considering how well she handled what she been through at a young age she was an overcomer and going up to the very top. I can't believe how well she handled the spot light at a very young age. Always barred up under it all and appeared so strong and happy! She had perfect speech at a young age ,high intellect even higher than many adults...She was also a trendsetter at a very young age not to mention her unique talent and unique physical beauty(gorgeous)...Aaliyah in a short time left a legacy no pop star can touch even today !!
Had a huge crush on her growing up. She always seemed like the girl you bring home to ya moms. It's crazy how perfect she was. We ain't had another Aaliyah since. I still get sad thinking about her sometimes. She should still be here.
I love how she deflected the interviewer’s wording choice of “intimidating,” describing Venus and Serena as “amazing” instead. For context, this is important in lieu of the racism and derogatory comments people made about their physical builds throughout their careers. I wish Aaliyah always had this awareness.
Aaliyah was always aware of that, but was always graceful with her response; it's almost like a subtle insult. I mean she was a very knowledgeable woman. In most of her interviews she came off as a diplomat, diction was always on point.
@@nakiabrown994 what I mean by “always had this awareness.” Is that I wish she had this awareness when she was set up and got on that plane. She was obviously intelligent and intuitive. I just wish she could’ve seen through the set up 😭
@@remylebeau8934 I honestly don’t believe Aaliyah suspected anything was wrong with that aircraft before she boarded it. The story that has been peddled is that Aaliyah and her passengers were warned about overloading the plane but insisted that they board with all their heavy equipment and that the plane fly anyway. This makes zero sense because not only would that have meant willingly endangering the passengers inc’ Aaliyah but it would also have endangered the crew i.e. “lucky” if it flies without issue but diabolical if it doesn’t:/ Who would knowingly risk that with so much to live for? I personally believe that part of the story is a fabrication to deflect from negligence.
@@damyanthelion What doesn’t make sense is that Blackground would put its star performer on a janky plane with a pilot who had cocaine in his system. And according to that singer from Philadelphia, she had received a call that Damon Dash had been in an accident and was in critical condition. That’s why she was in a rush to get back from the Bahamas. But idk if any of that is true. Aaliyah had been on record talking about her having strange dreams before the video shoot- something dark chasing after her, then lifting off away from whatever it was. And she had talked to her brother about fear of small planes. Just before her final video shoot, MTV interviewed her asking about how she wanted to be remembered and what her legacy should be. Who asks that to a 22yr old?? Consciously, she likely didn’t suspect anything. But as I said, she was intuitive and had a keen awareness at times... There were clues around her and subconsciously she may have been processing them.
2000 was her year! She had to be the biggest most successful female singer in that year.. her lead role in Romeo must die and the movie itself was a big success… and she had the # 1 song in country with try again also multiple awards … in 2000 it was literally Aaliyah here Aaliyah there Aaliyah everywhere.

I caught that too. That passive aggressive racism irks me.
