      I drilled a hole in the bottom side of the bucket and put some polyfill in it (pillow stuffing or fiber floss). Thanks for the kind words, if you want to support the channel we do have a patrion, shirts for sale, and the affiliate links in the description. We appreciate it!

    How much water is diverted during a heavy rain? Seems like it would take awhile to fill a pond or barrel or something...

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  Před 5 lety

      It comes out at about the same rate as a hose turned on. It's a pretty good amount.

    If a rain barrel is filled will it push it into the gutter or will a overflow?

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  Před 5 lety

      If you set the diverted up at the correct height it will not overflow the barrel and continue down to the gutter.

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  Před 2 lety +1

      It doesn't get all of it, probably about half makes in down the pipe in a heavy downpour.

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  Před 3 lety +1

    • @austin2842
      @austin2842 Před 3 lety

      @@DoItYourselfDad Thanks for your reply. I initially thought that it was a basket, but I realize now that the bottom is open and debris can move freely. Makes sense now! Do you find that this system collects sufficient water and returns the excess to the downspout effectively?

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  Před 3 lety +3

      It doesn’t divert 100% of the water that comes down the spout, closer to 50-75% of the water. Which is still more than my pond and rain barrels can handle.
