New fan here! A friend posted the "For The Swarm" video in a private group and I was so impressed I went looking for the rest of their material. I'm having a great time catching up! So far this and "Smells Like A Freakshow" are my top two favorites! I loved the movie! \(^_^)/
Avatar has to be one of the only bigger bands that is constantly experimenting and drastically changing their sound while also staying true to 'their' sound. Love it.
Nah they're pretty underrated sadly but at the same time it means its not as stressful for them making songs. Usually a band with too many fans can end up ruining the quality of a band.

I'm not a huge fan of it unfortunately, I was looking forward to new music by them but I was a bit disappointed with this album. I respect that they want to change but it's just not for me but I'll still give their future music a try though.

I really like that, even though he's the front man of the band, he didn't say "I have to be the King", he let someone else have that glory! Pretty generous if you ask me!
Also adds to the metal vibe making the guitar player king and i mean god he shreds sometimes a little dragonforcey somtimes more synyster gates feel but tastefully and still with his own style very eclectic band as a hole

When I saw Avatar, a couple had just gotten married and were in their tux and dress and everything. The band loved it. I ended up catching a drum stick and the bride tried to buy it from me and I felt bad for making her pay for a drumstick, so I just gave it to her.

I love how they include all the band members in their video storylines. I see a lot of videos that mostly focus on the lead singer. I love Avatar
Never heard of this band until last Friday when they played at the House of Blues in Anaheim with Light The Torch and Trivium. Went for Trivium and came out an Avatar fan. These guys are amazing live. The singer is incredible. His growls and screams were done so effortlessly even though he had a cold. Their drummer is something else. Honestly gave me the chills when he opened up their set with a flurry of drumming. Their bassist seemed cool. Seemed to be the quiet and charming one. And to say their duo guitars are anything short of amazing would be an insult. Definitely going to watch them when they come near LA again.
My kids turned me onto this. It is now my workout music. Vultures fly. kicks ass And explore from there I was actually very disappointed that a concert was postponed this past year.
Just saw them in Portland ME with light the torch. Amazing. Avatar killed it.

A very unique metal band. Their musicality/artistry, theatrics, melodic flair, and weirdness, are all greatly accomplished and grandiose.
The video is like watching Toki going on a date without the rest of Dethklok to screw it up for him.

I was so mad when Johannes didn't do a duet with Maria for Black Wedding. I spent 3 months wondering how that was going to sound and then she just did it solo despite Johannes being there.
where did you see them? i saw them in vancouver and they were definatly the best. it was too bad that they only started the concert and couldn't play more than 5 songs.
I don't think is innovative. If you said someone like Animals As Leaders was then I might agree, but the only thing that seems unique is the guys overly-flamboyant vocals. If the lyrics were good or it wasn't so repetitive it would've been better. Besides their sound the song structure is really generic, the guitar solo was just flashy and didn't add anything to the song. The bridge seemed jarring, short, and unnecessary, but I guess it's the popular thing to do to make sure the song doesn't get too long. I liked Bloody Angel, but I can't seem to find another song by them that I like.
Avatar.. generic? That just has to be one of the stupidest sentences i have ever read in my entire life, without any exaggeration. You either didnt listen to the rest of their material, or you're simply lacking some proper hearing abilities. Holy shit, if this is generic and repetitive, dafuq should we say about some other metal bands and their newer stuff. People tend to use that word, "generic", way too often nowadays. I'm guessing it's trendy or sth. LEARN THE TRUE MEANING OF IT.
Stefan Raskovic This song is generic, and most of the other stuff I heard are off this album. I heard good things about Avatar, but I'm really not into this album. I don't think the word generic is overused. The music industry is so over saturated that it takes a lot of digging to find something truly unique. This song sounds like it's trying to please a mainstream audience with its structure. The bridge and guitar solo felt forced. I prefer progressive music because there's more of a natural flow to it, and it isn't dictated by some popular form it has to follow. Gojira is more my cup of tea. I mentioned Animals As Leaders in my last comment, because if you really want to find something unique you'll find it in an experimental group like Animals As Leaders. Seriously listen to one of their songs. It's a 3 piece instrumental band with no bass player, because both the guitarists use 8 string guitars. Matt Garstka is one of the best drummers of the younger generations of musicians along with Mario Duplantier, and Tosin Abasi has to be the greatest guitarist of that generation. Listen to Ka$cade or The Brain Dance. Thank You Scientist is also an amazing experimental group. Listen to their song Caverns. I was hoping someone would tell me Avatars best songs in the past when I said I had a hard time finding them. Wasn't expecting someone to get super defensive.

In Knoxville they all came out eventually but I couldnt wait because it raining and I had a 4 hour drive back home and I got to meet them all just 4 days before....I also got to meet them at a signing in Louisville back in January
