  • Hello everyone in todays video for Microsoft flight simulator 2020 we will be going over flight plan input into the g3000/5000 . This is part 2 of 4 , the cessna longitude series . In this episode we will go over the arrival chart and the approach charts for KJAX. I will not go over the entire charts just the info that we need for the gps and some tips along the way. We are also using 2 mods for the longitude 1 is in the marketplace and the other is on flightsim.to links are below . We will also go over the vnav in the flight plan menu and show how to set up. If you have not seen part 1 please see the link below in that episode we go over all the systems in the longitude and a lot of necessary info for the gps and the operation of the systems. If you have any questions please post them below and don't forget to share like and subscribe to the channel.

    Despite you not being a pro pilot or having much experience IRL, you are great at explaining things in a very clear way. I do love your videos and you teach me a lot about MSFS and certain aircraft, thanks for that!
    In airlines RA (as far as I know - we did not use it in our company for CAT I and I can imagine it being the same in others) is never used (read: not allowed to use) for the decision altitude or minimum descent altitude during CAT I or non-precision approaches (things change when going into CAT II/III approaches but not well implemented in msfs as far as I know, and CAT II/III approaches follow completely different procedures and crew coordination during the final approach phase). The reason is simple: the terrain before a runway is seldom flat, so with RA selected the terrain might trigger the call at a wrong point, often before the real established DA/MDA. Baro altitude is a fixed point (if you dialed in the right baro of course). The radio altimeter is mostly used to crosscheck your relative altitude with the published terrain around the airfield when flying in low visibility conditions. It is another indication that might confirm that you are in the right position (GPS, VOR/DME's and other means are far more precise) seen the expected terrain around you (or might warn you you are not where you think you are). At the minimums call the pilot(s) need to have a positive visual on the landing runway and be fully established (considering position, speed, configuration, weather, landing clearance) to perform a safe landing, otherwise a go-around is mandatory. The callouts of the airplane ("five hundred..one hundred.. fifty.. etc) are triggered by the radio altimeter. At the 500 call we had to loudly confirm our landing clearance. "Cleared!" the Pilot Flying calls out to the other (PF to PNF) who would confirm with "check". If not cleared at that point you need to contact ATC immediately and ask for the landing clearance, otherwise at DA/MDA you should initiate a mandatory go-around.
    RVR is measured near the runway (often e.g. mist is just a thin layer with unlimited views above it at e.g. 200ft, but impenetrable once inside the mist) , and the RVR is given by METAR, ATIS and ATC before landing (if RVR is relevant considering the wx conditions) so you can decide with this information before initiating your final approach to continue or to divert to your alternate. Sometimes we would also perform a "look-see" procedure when RVR was around/slightly below minimums in the hope/expectation that at the DA the RVR would be at or above minimums that would allow us to land, but that was always in concert with ATC which would inform us if any improvement in RVR would be likely during the final approach. And they would be aware that a go-around is a strong possibility. During the final approach ATC keeps you continuously informed of the relevant RVR's at short intervals when the weather is critical. Many bigger airfields have two or three RVR's per runway, one for each part of the runway (beginning-, mid- and end-section of the landing runway). Depending on your type of aircraft and weight (depending thus on landing distance - or takeoff distance in case of takeoff) you might have to consider only the first, the first two or take into account all the given RVR's (often companies publish the minimum RVR's necessary for their pilots and aircraft to be allowed to land and take off - same goes for maximum crosswinds and many other things). RVR's are measured by a laser beam of light, an emitter stands close to the runway (on a small pole not far above the ground) and a receiver a bit further down the length of the runway, each covering a sector of a runway if there are multiple RVR's. If there is haze or mist, the light beam gets partially blocked by the fine water particles and computers calculate the resulting RVR very precisely.
    Keep up the good work, I really do appreciate you helping us out!

    Fyi if you have a navigraph subscription there is a Simbrief panel in the touchscreen garmin to import your Flight Plan from simbrief directly. As well as panel for Charts to load charts directly on the screen.

      @2020fsers  Před 13 dny

      Yes you can save your flight plan a couple ways . If you use little navmap you can save it there. If using the flight planning in the sim on the world map before you spawn then you can select the option at the bottom to export the fpl and save it that way.

    Great tutorials. Any chance you have or will cover the PERF tab in the Garmin. I'm having a hard time translating the info from SimBrief over in the Longitude. It's also unclear if payload and fuel should be setup in the stock MSFS fuel/weight tab vs in the perf tab. Either way I suspect my take off / landing bugs are off because of that.

    So I get my flight plans off of Simbrief and I like to enter them manually as you did instead of using MSFS's flight planner. I also like using MSFS ATC and FSLTL for live traffic to make my flights more realistic. My problem is that ATC never clears me to cruise altitude, only to a certain level outside the departure airport area. Other than requesting higher altitudes during my climb with ATC, is there another way to have ATC clear me to my requested/planned cruise altitude? Great video, the Longitude is my favorite plane in FS. Can't wait until the next one.... Thanx in advance.

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  Před rokem +1

      Hey thanks for the comment . The only way I know to have msfs atc get you to cruise is to enter your fpl in the world map.amd set your cruise alt in the navlog (the navlog button should be on the right side on the screen then it will show your vertical flight path and enter your top cruise alt there) when you do this it may enter your fpl in the g5000 so you can delet the fpl and re enter it. Or use pilot 2 atc or another external atc and use that instead. Hope that helps

    Today I flew the blizz5 SID out of kbos with the longitude, during departure I got a call from atc asking me to reduce speed as per the departure. apparently the constraints didn’t get automatically added nor did I verify that they were because I’m so use to it being done automatically. After the flight I went back and tried it again not only were the constraints not added but i also couldn’t add them my self there were dashes and the space was not clickable to edit. Do you have any idea why this happened ?
