Cats are what's called 'polyoestrous' which means that they go into heat more than once per year. For cats this is about every 2-3 weeks and their cycle lasts for about a week on average. Which as you can probably imagine is pretty frustrating for the individual, which is why we recommend you get your female cats spayed.

If she's 9-12 months she's sexually mature and is therefore eligible for spaying (recommended age for spaying is 5-6 months for the average individual). I would highly recommended consulting with a veterinarian and looking into getting her spayed to prevent discomfort, pregnancy and the potential for various forms of cancers and infections in the uterus and ovaries. I remember when my two cats went into heat for the first time, they were starting to become diphonic from all the meowing, it sounded like they were in pain while horny, and it was clearly an awful experience for them. We were adviced not to spay them while in heat so we actually had to wait for the heat to go away. They are all good now, they were both spayed on the same day, thankfully, but those days I wished I could share a tiny fraction of their pain
I lived with one for about a year. My landlords and she was in heat regularly and it sounded like she was saying "OWWWWW" all the time It was sad to listen to Funny enough mine usually matched up with hers and from my room I would just say to her in the hall "don't worry I know what it feels like. we're in the same boat right now, I feel you"

Unfortunately a fascist was also renting a room and gassing the building and the rest of the tenants through inside the walls so unfortunately every period that happened in that house was as painful as possible, the cats as well I am sure. The fascist ended up letting the cat out on purpose and also bringing in an unfixed male twice her size and ended up getting her knocked up just cuz she was sick of listening to the crying and meowing. Most *responsible* vets now will wait until after their first heat. My Aussiedoodle is about to be eight months and isn’t spayed.

She can't stop it, they've already set up a spot the cat is comfortable in, and is currently sitting beside them to help, they have to wait out the first heat to spay them, there's literally nothing she can do aside from making it at least less lonely and stressful for the cat
For everyone who dont know: Cats getting their period means coming in heat and it remains for 7 days every month, this means they either have to breed with another male cat or get spayed which is a surgery that removes a part of their body that stops their period forever and the ability to breed is deactivated. Stop hating on her guys she cant spay the cat untill the heat/period is over and they dont bleed either in this process. They do bleed during this period I have 6 cats all spayed but before then I didn't know what was happening why one of them was bleeding I took her to the vet and it was explained to me. But they do bleed a little when in heat

For people who are confused about cats having periods: if an animal has a womb, it has periods, so it includes all mammals (maybe other groups too but I'm not sure). But it's not every month like humans, it depends on the reproductive cycle of the species. Not all species have blood loss during this time but some does, including apes and bats, a lot of species also have blood loss but simply reabsorb it inside the body.

@M1NN1EM0USE thank you. we had to give him away because as playful and cute as he was, ragdoll cats, especially males can be very aggressive and destructive and he was ruining my house, scratching expensive chairs, pulling the carpets up and creating mess. we tried to let him out in the garden and put a tracker in his collar but he kept ripping it off as he’s a home cat and isn’t the smartest breed of cats. we were going to give him to a rehoming centre but very last minute my aunt asked if she could have him and that’s a better option as she has children who adore cats and would love him a lot and we can go and visit him whenever we want, she also said she would give updates on how he’s doing and his health which is amazing and would also send pictures and videos, obviously I won’t see him everyday but he hasn’t left me forever❤️
Just so everyone knows, the longer you wait after your cats first heat to get her spayed the more likely she is to get cancer in her reproductive system. (Also, if she gets her first heat and there is a male cat(not spayed) inside the house or outside (if she's an escape artist) she will get pregnant as young as 6 months old. That's still a kitten. And the stress it puts their bodies under could make them ill or worse.

Please get her spayed. It will help her so much through her life, reduce the risk of pregnancy even if you don’t have a male cat/have a male cat around, and her attitude will improve.
It will in some moments not help the cat. I also have a cat and I did not spayed her and she actually got pregnant it’s was a lot for her but at the end she had a beautiful baby cat that is now with us in my house. @@Amina_cheas a vet I had a patient this week who was not spayed. She ended up getting an infection in the uterus which led to sepsis and she did not make it. Getting spayed also reduces the risk of mammary cancer and eliminates uterine/ovarian cancer. There are some animals that don't get spayed due to lifestyle (breeding animals). But if she isn't breeding the cat getting her spayed is better for the cats health long term
@@Amina_che sure not all cats will get sick, but indoor/outdoor doesn't really contribute to the risk of cancers or uterine infection. Based on what I've seen I'd recommend spaying any animal that isn't actively used for breeding, but it's always up to the owner and their vet.

For anyone wondering: Cats have a cycle that’s called “heat” it’s happens every 2-3 weeks for about 7 days, if the cats not spayed. It only affects female cats. During this time, they’ll be extra affectionate, but also yowl, meow, and roll on the ground a lot. There usually shouldn’t be bleeding, and if there is, contact your vet immediately. It won’t be in any pain AT ALL (unless it has an infection). The yowling and meowing is to attract males, and the rolling on the ground is basically a mating ritual. However, not getting your cat spayed means you’ll have to deal with this a lot, and it’s quite annoying. Also having to deal with the cat having the possibility of being pregnant, and when it’s older it has a higher chance of getting mammary cancer. Cats can get spayed usually around 6 months, so do that if you have the chance. They can also spray fluids which is a big mess. I personally didn’t have that experience when my cats were in heat, but it can happen. Sorry this was so long, and I apologize for any grammar mistakes, it’s 12am and I’m tired lmao.

That’s usually the only thing annoying about having un-neutered male cats tho (besides the fact that they’ll try and go to a female cat they hear calling for them) if the spraying is an issue for you, the male equivalent of getting your cat spayed is getting him neutered. theres many reason one may not have their pet fixed. My dog is not fixed because in the beginning of his life he was having major procedures, so he couldnt get fixed at the same time, now hes an adult and has other health issues and the risk outweigh the benefits. Don't assume. Also they could have adopted an unfixed cat and simply are in the process of getting it fixed, etc.

Idk if this also happens in cats but not getting a female dog fixed can give them a infection called pyometra which Is basically fatale. My dog got it and if we had known we would have gotten her fixed. She was sick so we took her to the vet. She had symptoms of a common sickness, diarrhea, tiredness, throwing up, and losing control of when they poop. We got to the vet and they offered to run tests. We only ran a few as they are Soo expensive. First mistake.the tests we did didn't show shit and we got her pills and took her home. Like half a month later she was sick again But much much worse she had lost complete control of her poop. She want eating or drinking at all and what she did she would throw up. We took her in and ran the other tests and we waited and they told us we should go home cuz it would be hours until they ran the tests. Around midnight we got a call. We all were awake and I was trying to listen to what the vet was saying on the phone. That when I heard that the most humane thing was euthanization. We made the drive to the vet and they put her down. I couldn't believe it. She was healthy up until then. She was a small dog so we expected her to live longer. She was only 8. Get your dogs fixed. I’m so sorry for your loss :( my pup passed away a few years ago too(because of cancer), he ended up becoming very drowsy and his eyes became extremely puffy. When we went to the vet he acted all fine but it was very far from how he was at home. The vet’s than took a blood test so we could go away, only to find leukaemia in his bone marrow(it was to late to save him, and he had to be put down before his organs failed and it became to painful for him), by the time we figured out he’s breathing was heavy too- meaning if we kept him any longer he’d start to throw up bl00d, ect. :( May they both Rest In Peace ❤️🩹
A cat’s “period” is actually just them being in heat. It is very rare for them to bleed during this, however it is possible to show up in their pee. It also wont be a once a month thing. This can be fixed by going to the vet. (It also happens with dogs.) So, yes, cats do have periods. Correct me if any of this info is wrong 👍💗

When my baby was in heat the first and only time, she seemed so miserable, and plus the other two fixed cats were being driven insane by her heat scent. It literally broke my heart. Wisdom teeth, appendixes, just because it's "natural" doesn't mean that it must be suffered through. It reduces the chances of cancer by preventing unbred cats from having complications due to not being used to reproduce. When you don't stud your cats (and other domesticated animals) they suffer the consequences of an unfulfilled heat and the entire process of reproduction is actually suffering. By reducing the likelihood they suffer from the full effects of it, they live their lives normally as they would outside of heat, for the rest of their lives. They do not care about "having grandchildren" or "remaining a x", they're animals. If anything the population control and health benefits outweigh the risks of the procedure. Also not spaying/neutering in certain situations can be animal abuse. Many veterinarians or animal shelters I've seen even offer it for free with their adoptions or have a very low relative cost (less than ~200 dollars for a surgery).
Got my first cat two years ago as the runt of the litter and she's about the size of a fat pigeon and she's living a wonderful life. I'm glad I got her spayed and taken care of when she was living with me, she's such a happy kitty now

Im feline terms, its called oestrus or “going into heat.” Female cats RARELY bleed though because unlike humans, they absorb the lining instead of shedding it. Cats can go into heat multiple times a year and will continue the cycle until they are fixed or get pregnant. SO SPRAY AND NEUTER YOUR CATS! They usually have about 2-3 litters per year and can have up to about 6-8 kittens per litter.
Oh boy there is a stray cat my aunt bought home just for some food.and now that latterly lives in our house. The stray cat lives around our building and other neighbouring building. We think some actually let this cat live in their house,give them cooked fish and meat and pet it. Because it didn't get scared at all.but then left it. It loves sitting in our laps.I WAS SO SCARED when it tried to sit because I was never this close to a cat before! My Lil bro is allergic to cats. My mom dont likes cat. Me and my dad love cats. I mean I never knew my dad loved cats! He is a very quite and chill person. We are long distance to our dad,even if we live together. We tried to shoo it away. But it would meow desperately in the balconies. Wait for us to open the door. It didn't meow much for food but love. If We we were at living room, It would come to that room and then chill at a random spot. It loves humans. But it's preagnent now. I NEVER KNEW IT WAS FEMALE I THOUGHT IT WAS GUY- but anyways. We don't actually treat it as our cat. It's just a stray that lives in our house and and gets food. I'm scared if it will ever go to heat. Because my mom will throw it out at street. Unfortunately a fascist was also renting a room and gassing the building and the rest of the tenants through inside the walls so unfortunately every period that happened in that house was as painful as possible, the cats as well I am sure. Unfortunately. The fascist ended up letting the cat out on purpose and also bringing in an unfixed male twice her size and ended up getting her knocked up just cuz she was sick of listening to the crying and meowing. All the babies died since the male was twice the size of her.

Most *responsible* vets now will wait until after their first heat. My Aussiedoodle is about to be eight months and isn’t spayed.

For everyone who dont know:
Cats getting their period means coming in heat and it remains for 7 days every month, this means they either have to breed with another male cat or get spayed which is a surgery that removes a part of their body that stops their period forever and the ability to breed is deactivated. Stop hating on her guys she cant spay the cat untill the heat/period is over and they dont bleed either in this process. Thats all guys dont hate on her lol

For people who are confused about cats having periods: if an animal has a womb, it has periods, so it includes all mammals (maybe other groups too but I'm not sure). But it's not every month like humans, it depends on the reproductive cycle of the species. Not all species have blood loss during this time but some does, including apes and bats, a lot of species also have blood loss but simply reabsorb it inside the body.

@M1NN1EM0USE thank you. we had to give him away because as playful and cute as he was, ragdoll cats, especially males can be very aggressive and destructive and he was ruining my house, scratching expensive chairs, pulling the carpets up and creating mess. we tried to let him out in the garden and put a tracker in his collar but he kept ripping it off as he’s a home cat and isn’t the smartest breed of cats. we were going to give him to a rehoming centre but very last minute my aunt asked if she could have him and that’s a better option as she has children who adore cats and would love him a lot and we can go and visit him whenever we want, she also said she would give updates on how he’s doing and his health which is amazing and would also send pictures and videos, obviously I won’t see him everyday but he hasn’t left me forever❤️
Just so everyone knows, the longer you wait after your cats first heat to get her spayed the more likely she is to get cancer in her reproductive system.
(Also, if she gets her first heat and there is a male cat(not spayed) inside the house or outside (if she's an escape artist) she will get pregnant as young as 6 months old. That's still a kitten. And the stress it puts their bodies under could make them ill or worse.

It will in some moments not help the cat. I also have a cat and I did not spayed her and she actually got pregnant it’s was a lot for her but at the end she had a beautiful baby cat that is now with us in my house. Pregnancy is normal and spayed doesn’t change the fact that she will get better in her life like who is saying that? Just let her decide what the best is for her cat.
@@Amina_cheas a vet I had a patient this week who was not spayed. She ended up getting an infection in the uterus which led to sepsis and she did not make it. Getting spayed also reduces the risk of mammary cancer and eliminates uterine/ovarian cancer. There are some animals that don't get spayed due to lifestyle (breeding animals). But if she isn't breeding the cat getting her spayed is better for the cats health long term

For anyone wondering:
Cats have a cycle that’s called “heat” it’s happens every 2-3 weeks for about 7 days, if the cats not spayed. It only affects female cats. During this time, they’ll be extra affectionate, but also yowl, meow, and roll on the ground a lot. There usually shouldn’t be bleeding, and if there is, contact your vet immediately. It won’t be in any pain AT ALL (unless it has an infection). The yowling and meowing is to attract males, and the rolling on the ground is basically a mating ritual. However, not getting your cat spayed means you’ll have to deal with this a lot, and it’s quite annoying. Also having to deal with the cat having the possibility of being pregnant, and when it’s older it has a higher chance of getting mammary cancer. Cats can get spayed usually around 6 months, so do that if you have the chance. They can also spray fluids which is a big mess. I personally didn’t have that experience when my cats were in heat, but it can happen.

That’s usually the only thing annoying about having un-neutered male cats tho (besides the fact that they’ll try and go to a female cat they hear calling for them) if the spraying is an issue for you, the male equivalent of getting your cat spayed is getting him neutered. Don’t worry, after he heals, he’ll act just like his normal self, just no spraying 😁

theres many reason one may not have their pet fixed. My dog is not fixed because in the beginning of his life he was having major procedures, so he couldnt get fixed at the same time, now hes an adult and has other health issues and the risk outweigh the benefits. Don't assume. Also they could have adopted an unfixed cat and simply are in the process of getting it fixed, etc.

Idk if this also happens in cats but not getting a female dog fixed can give them a infection called pyometra which Is basically fatale. My dog got it and if we had known we would have gotten her fixed. She was sick so we took her to the vet. She had symptoms of a common sickness, diarrhea, tiredness, throwing up, and losing control of when they poop. We got to the vet and they offered to run tests. We only ran a few as they are Soo expensive. First mistake.the tests we did didn't show shit and we got her pills and took her home. Like half a month later she was sick again But much much worse she had lost complete control of her poop. She want eating or drinking at all and what she did she would throw up. We took her in and ran the other tests and we waited and they told us we should go home cuz it would be hours until they ran the tests. Around midnight we got a call. We all were awake and I was trying to listen to what the vet was saying on the phone. That when I heard that the most humane thing was euthanization. We made the drive to the vet and they put her down. I couldn't believe it. She was healthy up until then. She was a small dog so we expected her to live longer. She was only 8. Get your dogs fixed.

my pup passed away a few years ago too(because of cancer), he ended up becoming very drowsy and his eyes became extremely puffy. When we went to the vet he acted all fine but it was very far from how he was at home. The vet’s than took a blood test so we could go away, only to find leukaemia in his bone marrow(it was to late to save him, and he had to be put down before his organs failed and it became to painful for him), by the time we figured out he’s breathing was heavy too- meaning if we kept him any longer he’d start to throw up bl00d, ect. :(

A cat’s “period” is actually just them being in heat. It is very rare for them to bleed during this, however it is possible to show up in their pee. It also wont be a once a month thing. This can be fixed by going to the vet. (It also happens with dogs.)

When my baby was in heat the first and only time, she seemed so miserable, and plus the other two fixed cats were being driven insane by her heat scent. It literally broke my heart. @@qs1 people censor all kinds of random words nowadays but the cat is fine shes just in heat and I get it can be a bit stressful but it’s normal. This even happens to dogs and yes there’s some blood, but they’re ok. I do hope they’re planning to spay the cat though

@@EngMacM It's painful and unnecessary. Cancer is naturally occurring too, but you won't yell people not to cure it either, right? Wisdom teeth, appendixes, just because it's "natural" doesn't mean that it must be suffered through.
It reduces the chances of cancer by preventing unbred cats from having complications due to not being used to reproduce. When you don't stud your cats (and other domesticated animals) they suffer the consequences of an unfulfilled heat and the entire process of reproduction is actually suffering.
By reducing the likelihood they suffer from the full effects of it, they live their lives normally as they would outside of heat, for the rest of their lives. They do not care about "having grandchildren" or "remaining a x", they're animals. If anything the population control and health benefits outweigh the risks of the procedure.
Also not spaying/neutering in certain situations can be animal abuse. Many veterinarians or animal shelters I've seen even offer it for free with their adoptions or have a very low relative cost (less than ~200 dollars for a surgery).

Got my first cat two years ago as the runt of the litter and she's about the size of a fat pigeon and she's living a wonderful life. I'm glad I got her spayed and taken care of when she was living with me, she's such a happy kitty now

My cat likes going outside and when she was “on her period” (heat) she meowed a lot because she felt pain, get her spayed other animals in the wild can sense heat and cats don’t like $èx. It very stressful for our cats, please get her spayed.

No, you really don't. Cat's reproductive systems are not similar to humans in the slightest. Cats do not have a menstrual cycle, they have an estrous cycle which is completely different. CZcams shorts out here spreading so much misinformation smh

Y’all……. Vet here. This is not a cat on her period. Im feline terms, its called oestrus or “going into heat.” Female cats RARELY bleed though because unlike humans, they absorb the lining instead of shedding it. Cats can go into heat multiple times a year and will continue the cycle until they are fixed or get pregnant. SO SPRAY AND NEUTER YOUR CATS! They usually have about 2-3 litters per year and can have up to about 6-8 kittens per litter.

I think they mean spraying. That's usually an intact male thing, but many intact female cats mark as well!

Oh boy there is a stray cat my aunt bought home just for some food.and now that latterly lives in our house. The stray cat lives around our building and other neighbouring building.
We think some actually let this cat live in their house,give them cooked fish and meat and pet it. Because it didn't get scared at all.but then left it. It loves sitting in our laps.I WAS SO SCARED when it tried to sit because I was never this close to a cat before! My Lil bro is allergic to cats. My mom dont likes cat. Me and my dad love cats. I mean I never knew my dad loved cats! He is a very quite and chill person. We are long distance to our dad,even if we live together. We tried to shoo it away. But it would meow desperately in the balconies. Wait for us to open the door. It didn't meow much for food but love. If We we were at living room, It would come to that room and then chill at a random spot. It loves humans. But it's preagnent now. I NEVER KNEW IT WAS FEMALE I THOUGHT IT WAS GUY-
but anyways. We don't actually treat it as our cat. It's just a stray that lives in our house and and gets food. I'm scared if it will ever go to heat. Because my mom will throw it out at street. She even threatened me about it. Sadness. But I'm actually less scared alone home with this stupid Lil cat in the house because I'm mostly alone at home.
