Hi Dale. I love that Richard Hawley album. That and Cole’s Corner are his two best albums. Great voice, great songwriting. I listened to Brilliant Trees again recently. I think it’s an album that gets better with each listen. I see that the David Sylvian / Nine Horses album is getting a RSD vinyl release. I don’t always bother with RSD but I’ll make the effort this year to pick up a copy. Cheers.

Hi Dale. Is it my imagination or is the bloke shaving on the cover of Richard Thomson's 'Amnesia' a dead ringer for David Tennant? I saw Thompson live in Sheffield many moons ago but I have only a passing acquaintance with his music as his records tend to be very expensive on the rare occasions when they do pop up. I have an OG of that David Sylvian, and the CD, but I haven't really paid enough attention to either of them so must put that right. Cheers, James
1st off thank you for mentioning Blossom Dearie the other day. Literally a couple of days later I found 2 of her LPs in a shop thats local to me. Soon its gonna rain which I love, also the live at Ronnie Scotts which I need to spend more time with before I decide if its staying or not. 2nd.... I was kind of hoping you were going to be getting rid of lowedges, I would have offered to take that off your hands no problem. That's the 1st lp of his I heard, used to go back to that a lot. Maybe its easy to pick up a reissue anyway, will have to check. 3rd, Im always interested in how other people decide what to keep/get rid of when they purge something. Personally I've kept plenty of terrible albums just because they contain 1 track I absolutely love. 4. Have you considered moving the good system to a place where you can use it every day?? Cheers!
Wow quite a list! 1. You are welcome and two great finds there (maybe you will now find Richard Hawley albums - see next). 2. Sorry Lowedges is most definitely a keeper. 3. I'm not sure I will stick rigidly to the 100% great tracks rule (in fact I know I've broken it several times already). 4. I think you should begin this by playing the Clash, Should InStay or Should I Go. Those are some hard decisions to make Dale, a compliment you on being able to do that. Probably got a lot of people excited by getting rid of Aphrodite’s Child. I bought it because I wanted a vertical swirl lol.
With you on 666, it has it's highlights but not crazy about the whole album.Just bought a copy of Brilliant Trees, it's an OG and mine is a tad noisy too. Hokey Pokey has some lovely songs, A Heart Needs A Home is terrific. I have a best of Wishbone Ash and that's good enough for me. I've got that Retrospective album, I particularly love the Neil Young songs.

Enjoying the series here too, you are a brave man upsetting the prog bods and traditional views of record collectors. 666 I've never heard so couldn't comment even on theological grounds but Anna VH is awesome church organs can't be the easiest to master. Haha I went to a car boot day before yesterday approx 1pm and there was a fair bit knocking around - one guy had a whole load of sealed dead stocked new stuff a majority that were new artists no one has ever heard of I was conservative and grabbed a couple. Should've maybe had few more as were a fiver each. There were some 12"s too but they were very dancey and a bit crusty for my liking (DJ played) Leeds meet up is next weekend pity you are not coming, it is a long way but I'm way too extrovert for my own good so will have to control my excitement and not be too scary.
Car boots have been rubbish due to iffy weather. Hopefully this weekend will pick-up. Not much footage from the meet-up but you seemed to have a good time which is the main thing
The majority of albums have 1-2 lesser tracks. I would see off a fair slice of my collection based on that. Most of my LPs are also on Spotify too. You need the space I guess Dale? Cheers, Chris

Hokey Pokey was the last of the ‘great three’ Linda and Richard albums I heard and it holds up well I think. I must get that Atomic Rooster record, partly because of its super iconic cover.

And you've gone and compounded things by even considering getting rid of any Thompson albums. Oh God, and the Ash and Rooster two more definite keepers. The only reason to get rid of the Springfield album is that it's a comp and if you had both studio albums anyway. I really hope you recover soon - my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sorry to keep putting you through it Pete. I do have 666 on CD. It is strange that I have spent quite some time (and money) building quite an extensive Richard Thompson collection, and he is my favourite guitarist, only to now begin to dismantle it...
