The fact that you grinded just to get a card and prove a point is incredibly funny.
Originally the script was a long rant because after I got what I THOUGHT was the final card, I didn't get anything so it was just complaining, so I went through and basically re-got half the cards in the game trying to find the one I was missing...for the sake of the video, totally worth it. As far as the games goes...eeeehhhhhhhh...
If someone can make "Revelations: Persona Protags Screaming 'Persanah!' for 10 Hours", I'd watch it through to the end

I know it's blasphemous to most other fans of the series to say this but I actually like the Revelation's version of Mark. I always just figured (before I knew he was changed from the original) that he was one of those rare, non-asian students that grew up in Japan because of his military parent(s) being stationed there or something. Made the game feel a bit more worldly/varied I guess.
Much as I don't like the Americanization of Japanese characters, I DO like the idea of a real Persona game that DOES take place in America and has American characters. And I was one of those American kids in Japan because my military parents were stationed there, so I totally get where you're coming from.
Plus, we need more stories where there's African-American characters in Japan.

@@princekiro1596 it will be interesting to see the series dealing with xenophobia in japan or at least just the whole "stranger in a strange world" thing, and a need for belonging from being in a foreign country

I like the idea that the manga creator made of Edward Tanaka as it makes it feel like a logical take on the English version and the protagonist of that version. I also like to think of Revelations as an alternate reality and universe and it makes sense to me like that

I actually do have a PS1 GameShark. I mostly used it because little kid me sucked at Final Fantasy Tactics :P
This was an interesting look into the first Persona game because I played "SMT:Persona" on the PSP and that was my experience.
Your experience was different of course and I feel you did an excellent job covering the game. You earned a sub. I can't wait to see more awesome videos by you.
Also I would like it if you could do the snow queen stuff
not on the psx release of the American version unless you have a gameshark, but the psp version does.

I just finished Revelations Persona a few days ago. And gotta say I did enjoy my time with the game. In fact it's my favorite Persona game I have played so far. Granted I have only played PQ, P3FES, and P5. I look forward to playing P2IS and see how it builds from the first game.

Man this was a nice surprise to see in my Sub-box. I remember trying to play this game like years ago and..oof I just couldn't. The game's map confused the shit out of me and the whole spell card/demon cards messed me up. But I can admit there's some charm. I actually planned on Reviewing the PSP version next year (Because I just wanna talk about all the personas at some point) so Im glad to hear that its the better version.

I'd love to see a video on the Snow Queen Quest! It's really interesting; especially the dummied out version in Revelations. You can hack it to start it up, and... A lot of it is actually translated? It's super interesting to investigate. I think you need more hacking to beat it though, because of the currency change weirdness.

2nd, now that I have actually watched Jojo. Now the Personas really remind me of Stands, specially in this game where Personas manifest in different ways as you mentioned in one of your twitter post.

According to the MegaTen Wiki, Skuld/Scrag and Vohu Mannah/Abracab (Ya know, the guy that appeared in P5R) also learn Hieroglyphein/BossDamage.

In terms of Persona I still need to beat Persona 1 and both games of Persona 2.
Skip the first persona, that game is not good. Persona 2 IS and EP are the best not only in the persona series but smt in general. But they haven't age so well

Please, please, please talk about the awesome well hidden Snow Queen quest that was sadly cut out of the localized PS1 original. I found that side quest to be more interesting even if the Thanatos dungeon was a little infuriating.
Isn't one the MC's lines for using his Persona literally him just yelling "AAAAAAH!!!!"
Is this version still worth looking into? Or should I just emulate the psp version?

Hi. Need a bit of help with the game. I want all 142 demon cards. Did you have some sort of guide to follow? How did you know if you missed any and can you go back for them all? I just don't know how to go about if. Would be so annoyed if I missed one and I couldn't go back and get it.
There's a Persona 1 Wikidot that has a good list of all the demons and also has information as to what character/conversation skill works best to get their Card.
Also thankfully none are outright MISSABLE if I recall correctly because you eventually gain access to the ruins that contains every demon in the game.
As for knowing which ones you've already gotten...sadly there's no way to check as there's no in-game checklist in the original or PSP version. I guess you can check off which ones you currently have on hand when you start, but frankly I just wound up going through each floor of the ruins and making sure I got everybody on each floor (the MegaTen wiki contains a list of what demons are found on which floors)
It's a long and arduous process, but good luck.
@@strain42 Hey man thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly and being so informative. I just bought the game on ebay and waiting for it to arrive hopefully next month. Will make a checklist of each demon that gives me a spell card along the way to collect as much as I can. Sadly there is very little information on certain things of this game. Will use the wiki to help me. There is so much the game doesn't tell you about. Thanks again man. Will try my best. Think vishnu looks awesome in this game.

And for a personal opinion.
I Vastly prefer Persona 1 and the 2 duology's Persona Users.
Not the characters, the way they work.
All of them can go into the Velvet room and get more Personas (Provided they are compatible.), THEY ARE FAR MORE NUMEROUS which leads to more interesting idea (I'm assuming you'll review the 2 Duology, so I'll hold off more details on that front when you do those videos.), No 'Wild Card' Bullshit, And most importantly, no power of friendship Saving the day.

I HAVE! I actually started watching it shortly after this video came out. I watched parts 1-4, but haven't started 5 yet.
I just beat 5 after getting collectors edition pre ordered lol. I loved 4 and beat it on vita. My problem with 4 was you couldn't see everything. Yet 5 you could and then spend time fishing if you wanted. On normal I got to level 50 and realized I was way over powered and then moved it to hard and beat it on hard. I loved spending time in mementos and the characters so much. I got a classic when the price dropped a while back and thought about playing this. After your review I think I will play p4 golden on my vita for the second time. I can not get over that black character in revelations though. My god is that racist...

I still preferred this over P3/P4. I grew up playing this and P2 Eternal Punishment (my favorite one). I love the entire series to be honest and SMT.
To be clear, I know P3 and P4 are superior games. I just really like the story based dungeons in P1 and P2 over the rogue like/tower dungeons started by P3.

Despite how bad it is, persona 1 is my gateaway to smt that i found by accident lol and one of several title to kickstart my hobby to hunt hidden gem title.
My gateway to SMT was DemiKids and I didn't even know it until years later.
@@strain42 lol yeah same thing happens to me. after P1, i didnt know smt is a series. I completely skip Nocturne and P2 untils later P3 come out making me confused since i never hear the 2nd title lol
I love persona 1 story but goddamn I hated it's gameplay
So it seems to me like for all intents and purposes the first 3 games in the persona series (1,IS,EP) were Megami Tensei spinoffs and with the exception of like Igor are completely separate from 3,4,and 5

To be totally honest, I greatly prefer the ps1 version of Persona 1
The PSP version has no americanization and a better localization, and the entire game included, but all of the OST just sounds worse to me, minus the opening theme, and the sfx and presentation if the game feels a lot "cleaner", for lack of a better descriptor
I think P1s best aspect is easily its atmosphere and tone, influenced by things like how your goals in the game are: kill Guido/Kandori & prevent Maki/Mary from basically willing herself out of existence, the music, the gritty and otherwordly sound effects during combat, people straight-up die and get turned into demons and stuff, P1 and P2 are a lot closer to a typical SMT game than the latter half of the series, which I think is an incredibly good and cool thing, personally, and the PSP port of P1 does a fair amount to erode that imo
