The last part of the video with thousands of people in the water splashing and having fun. That was Israel's funeral the people on the boat spead his ashes to the sea
I don't think she had a clue that they were committing him to the sea.
@@airplanes42 She was too concerned with the camera. I liked the video until the end, sadly.
@@sheraldochris2056 I agree, Kerry wasn't paying attention.
Another Artist gone to soon at 38 years old...... RIP IZ.......
It's rare when someone can take an already beautiful song, make major changes to it, and end up with a song possibly even more beautiful, but at the same time, taking nothing away from the original. Both versions are classics!
What you didn’t notice is at the end was his funeral for his ashes into the ocean.
RIP to a beautiful person in body, mind, and talent!!!! Passed away way too young!
What your were seeing at the end of the video is his funeral and his ashes being spread on the water.
She didn't see any of it. She was fixated on singing to the camera
This song brings me to tears every time I hear it.....
One night Iz called a producer and said he wanted to record a song and convinced him to open up the studio. It was the middle of the night and it was just him, the producer and his ukulele and this is what he recorded. All in one take. Beautiful sweet voice. Another beautiful song he recorded was "White Sandy Beach" that I believe you would love.
The studio owner was still there but was about to leave, but when he got the call he said if Iz could get there in 15 minutes, he’d keep the studio open for him. Even after the song was recorded, in one take as you say, the recording sat around forgotten for years before it was put on an album as an afterthought and became a worldwide hit. It’s the most requested version of the song for commercial purposes.
This will never be on my track list, but when I hear it, I love it with my hearth. Such a “pure love” song.
I used to play this Bruda IZ version to our adorable daughter (in the icon photo with my wife) when she was a wee girl, she loved it & she is & always will be, our gift from the Lord. 💙♥
He is Still Considered our National Hero..."Hey you were Close with the Name!"
This song was featured at the end of "50 First Dates" With Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, one of the funniest movies of all time. It always brings a tear to my eye when I hear it knowing it is like a requiem song for his life and death as he is no longer with us but left us this wonderful version of a classic song.
So right. In the TV series ER, a beloved character Dr Mark Greene had been struggling with cancer for a long time. The episode when Mark passed introduced me to this song. Takes me back to that moment every time. I'm not crying, you are...
What a voice coming from this young guy, extraordinary
"Brudda Iz" was a blessing...if only for a short lifetime.
Hi, Kerry. So now you've heard two different versions of this popular song. This one by Iz (R.I.P.) and the other by Judy Garland(R.I.P.), who played Dorothy in the 'Wizard Of Oz'.
(Did you know that Michael Jackson played the part of the scarecrow in a 1978 film version called 'The Wiz'?)
Thanks for sharing 👍
Take a good look at how many views it has. Just before the end of this video they were pouring out Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole ashes into the water. 😢😬
My passed mom introduced me to this guy, he always brought tears to her eyes, remarkable as she never displayed soft emotions at any other time that I knew her.
This and the Beverly hillbillies have got to be the best you’ve ever done. I love watching your reviews.
His rendition of this merges into "What a Wonderful World" is even better!
Great song, great performance, great scenery of one of my favorite places…Hawaii. The only place where I saw four different rainbows, in four different locations in the same day. Appropriate backup for this lovely song. Thanks again.
Wizard of Oz movie 🎥🍿 excellent somewhere over the rainbow Judy Garland
This is a very sweet gentle version of this song. Very pretty. It was used in a few movies.
Beautiful song, happy and sad at the same time.
Looks at the camera for the entire last minute. Misses his funeral
Great song and tribute to IZ
Best version I EVER heard. Inspires me like no other.
izzy got to the studio in the middle of the night , say he wanted to make a take of the song , did just one , this is it !
Great song choice. RIP IZ. You may be gone, but your music will live on.
Sadly taken way too soon, IZ had a beautiful voice and was loved worldwide. I love his rendition of this classic song.
I love his cover of what a wonderful world......
Happy Valentines Day Kerry
I LOVE THIS MAN RIP BROTHA!!!
The ending was actually Iz's funeral, those were his ashes thown into the ocean.
Thank you 🙏 RIP 🪦 Israel ☝️☮️somewhere over the rainbow 👏👏👏❤👍🎥👋
I think this was my suggestion. Possibly suggested from others as well. Thank you Kerry, I'm glad you liked it. If you're ever having a bad day, listening to this song is like getting a warm hug from IZ himself to make you feel better and put a smile on your face 🥰🎶
You can just call him Bruddah Iz. An amazing soul he was.
I recommended that song. 😁 and now I recommend the following songs:
Murder on the Dancefloor - Sophie Ellis-Bextor
Bon Jovi - It's my life
James blunt - You’re Beautiful.
Yes he has a nice voice, I think when this first was out I saw on FB where someone shared
Hello hello Kerry! Happy Valentine's Day! Happy Ash Wednesday! Love both Iz and Judy Garland's versions of 'Over the Rainbow'! Love Hawaii too! Rest in peace Iz. I know you listened to Simon and Garfunkel's 'Sound of Silence'. You should try listening to *Disturbed's* version. I think you'll like it! (PS - love the painting!)
He's Hawaiian. Very beautiful song.
You should react to Eva Cassidy sing "Over the rainbow"
definitely Eva Cassidy, the best version I have ever heard.
OMG! Kerry, You should listen to Eva Cassidy's rendition of "Over the Rainbow." It's live at the Blues Alley. Incredible.
Your painting is coming along. Reminds me of a twilight zone episode. Take care.
Amazing song!😊😀😙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙🌷💜💜💜💜💜💜🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇👍
Very Beautiful Song Kerry. I really, really enjoyed it very, bery much. Please play "Me and Little Andy" by Dolly Parton. Please. And let know what you think of it. Thank you so much
Have a Blessed Day. Adios
😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤ PS: God bless you. Thank uou gor being so nice to everybody. For being so you. Adios.
Most beautiful and meaningful funeral!
A couple you might like are: Duquesne Whistle, the offcial Bob Dylan video, and also Have You Ever Seen The Rain by CCR, but on that one watch the Jeny Smith version for the dancing (she is Russian, BTW).
Angelic voice, Rip Iz
Incredible, huh?
Rest in peace, IZ!
His song is “ magical”. Wow
When my then girlfriend introduced me to this video, I wept. A beautiful piece of music. She was not aware that the crowded scenes in the video were his funeral rites and the spreading of his ashes into the sea.
G'Day Kerry,,Love your vids,,,Somewhere over the rainbow is done brilliantly by an Australian singer called BILLY THORPE. This is the best version I have ever heard...
I love Hawaï❤
This is a great version of Over the Rainbow. You should also check out Eva Cassidy's version of Over the Rainbow. Another wonderful artist gone too soon.
HAPPY VALENTINES 💌 DAY
As others have posted, the end of this video was the spreading of the ashes of Mr. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole after his passing. We lived in Hawaii during the lifetime of Mr. Kamakawiwo'ole and we were there when he passed away. We’re haoles (non-native Hawaiians) which is why we don’t presume to refer to Mr. Kamakawiwo'ole as “Bruddah IZ” as he was affectionally known by his countrymen. We do this out of respect for Mr. Kamakawiwo'ole and the Hawaiian people. He was a treasure to the world, and especially to the people of Hawaii. He embodied the spirit of Aloha and the world is a dimmer place without him. He continues to bring us much joy in his songs in our playlists. So, if we may be so bold, Mahalo Brother IZ.
A shame she just posed and sang for the camera.
I love the wizard of Oz and also a more recent movie called Oz the great and powerful which is a kind of prequel . I think movie got criticized but I quite liked it.
IZ will forever be loved!!!
So far you haven't, listened to doop, a musical art form developed on the streets of New York, and perhaps other big cities. Please listen to The Students - I'm So Young, The Fascinators - Chapel Bells, Little Anthony & the Imperials - Tears on my Pillow, and Gene Chandler - Duke of Earl.
The end of this video was showing his funeral, celebrating his life before his ashes were spread in the ocean but since you were looking into the camera instead of the video you probably missed it.
She never responds to comments. She knows she’s pretty, and she’s in it for the money. She’s not here to enjoy art, or appreciate anyone’s life.
I know every line from the wizard of oz ive been watching for 50 some years
Lovely song, great reaction. ❤ still hoping for, Journey "Faithfully" Chis Stapleton "Tennessee Whiskey" Phil Collins 2004 Live "In the Air Tonight" love your reactions ❤
I've told my children that if they don't play this at my funeral I will haunt them.
Kerry, please listen to Somewhere Over The Rainbow/It's a Wonderful World medley by IZ!
The Good Die Too Young🥺
Kamakawiwo'ole ( kah mah kah vivo olay) the canoe that his ashes were poured from is the famous Hokulea (hoh koo lay uh)which has sailed all over the world.
I would like to suggest "Mr. Pinstripe Suit" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. They're like a modern throwback to the swing era of bands from the 40's. I think you would like many of their songs. 🙂
❤😊😊
Israel ran into a recording studio in the middle of the night, and recorded this in One Take! Just him and his Ukelele... that's all he needed.
I liked his Songs Johnny Mahomes and Hawaiian Superman.
pure soul he was.. ❤️ i wish we had 10 million of him
Beautiful song absolutely...and don't know about that guy...but the number one and best way for a healthy life is to toss those smart phones away...do it for the kids first and foremost, then of course for yourselves too
Nice creative adaptation of the song from The Wizard of Oz.
This is a great version of a classic song, but I would highly recommend also checking out the live cover of Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Eva Cassidy...it is an absolutely phenomenal performance (and arrangement) and is very emotional (have some tissue ready!). Tragically, she passed away several months after that performance due to metastatic melanoma cancer and before her music became very popular.
I cant listen to 5 seconds of this song wothout the tears flowing. This is the only version besides Judy Garlands that i will listen too. Another beautiful reaction. Now i need to find some tissues.
R.I.P. IZ
Aleksandr Sergeevic Pushkin
La Tempestad de nieve
C'è anche un video su CZcams
I f i remamber corectly the song was one of the kind dat wer recordet in 1 take and in les then 15 minets acording to the music producer how worked whit him
You picked a good one, Kerry. Now you need to follow up with Louis Armstrong "What a Wonderful World" to get the full meaning.
Please now do Eva Cassidy version 🙂
Hi Ms. K., If U would have spent a little more time watching the Video instead of staring at the camera
maybe U would have realized that the people in the water are celebrating IZ's funeral.. ♠Mr.G..
Kerry, meet me at the end of the rainbow!
Please react to Back to the Future!
Iz made this song his OWN.
There is another version, same vocal and music performance, but without the crowd noise near the end 👍
Hi Kerry, I’ve been following your channel and I love your reaction videos! I have a special request for you. There’s a version of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ by Eva Cassidy that I think you would really enjoy. Eva Cassidy was an American singer known for her interpretations of jazz, folk, and blues music. She had a powerful, emotive soprano voice and was a key figure on the Washington music scene. Unfortunately, she passed away from melanoma at the age of 33 in 1996. Despite her early death, her music has had a significant impact. In fact, her posthumously released recordings, including three number-one albums and one number-one single in the UK, have sold more than ten million copies. Her music was brought to the attention of British audiences when her versions of ‘Fields of Gold’ and ‘Over the Rainbow’ were played by Mike Harding and Terry Wogan on BBC Radio 2. There’s a home video of her performing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ at Blues Alley in Washington, recorded in black and white by her friend Bryan McCulley. It’s a truly moving performance and I think you’d really appreciate it. Looking forward to your reaction!
react a Belle de Jeur , de Alceu Valença, for Brasil
Kerry: I like your videos but one thing I have noticed in so many of them is that it seems that you miss so much that is important like, for instance at 3:58 Please pay attention to the videos; we aren't going anywhere.
clint black just listen
I love your reactions as they are truly new experiences for you. I want to make one recommendation, please focus on the reaction and not watch yourself in the camera. You missed very important aspects of the Over the Rainbow video because you were watching yourself be cute in the camera.
Just say "Bruddah Iz" people will know who you are talking about.
Kerry, It was a different time and place it used to be beautiful but now its dirty snd it's dangerous to be there. I strongly suggest you never go back there. The police wont help you if you get robbed. It's terrible.
…Are you talking about Hawai’i?
Judy garland didn't sing it this way
WIZARD OF OZ
You were too busy posing for the camera that you ignored the entire video.
Too bad you didn't watch the video, rather than lip-syncing to the camera... and you'd have noticed this was a tribute video.
Judy Garland made this song famous not anyone else
This version is a bit different (with ukulele) and includes parts of the song "What a Wonderful World" originally by Louis Armstrong, too.
Totally wrong:
Millions of people never even SAW the Wizard of Oz and never HEARD the song before Israel did this.
Not everyone is old.
I used to think that as well, until I heard Eva Cassidy make this song into something even more amazing
@@Ira88881 You don't have to be old to have watched the Wizard of Oz! There might be some people who know about this version of this song instead of the Wizard of Oz, but a lot more people know about the movie! But, I like this version better, myself.
@@MatthewTheWanderer You would be amazed how many people under 40 never saw the movie.
UCRANIA
This girl is too busy posing for the camera for views. She doesn’t care.
@@AKCFTW HAHAHA. POOR GIRL
Dig the music, baby. Not so important how to pronounce Iz's last name...
