It really a is a factory motor though. 1998 Grand Cherokee limited was the only one produced with the 5.9, all other grand Cherokees with v8s had the 5.2, until they came out with the 4.7. Lmao.
Omg the ls hate . im an born raised Gm man own 7 since my 1st 85 z28 camaro at age 15 7 more 3-5 gen camaros an 2 corvettes . besides my love loytaly for Gm i thought like you when i was young an had no since. Ive built my 1st motor in high school after my high school rival had an 87 lx stang with a 351 w c4 trans 8.8 rear vs my poor 305 700r 10 bolt z28 he bet my by 3 cars. My 1st ass whooping i promise myself at age 16 i want get imberres like that again couse the girl liked saw the race to we had no money but was for bragging right at high school. Told my dad an we next week snatch the 305 out found a junk yard 400 small iron sbc 350 trans 12 bolt rear end 650 holly double pump carb on 15 inch mickey ts sportsman pro tires all we had vs a full slick at that time. Well when we raced again we jumped 1 car on me but as soon as 2nd gear hit we beat him 5 cars lenths . mybad for long txt but my point is to bash ls are very foolish i was like you i thought an 2nd gen iron 350 or my lt1 383 car would out performan an ls car only till i had enough money to buy one an did my research ive relize the any based ls motors even an 4.8 stock bottom end 241 heads good cam truck intake would put out more hp . then any past sbc motors we built dont get me wrong thoses old sbc motors are stout but as far as hp per dollor an cube inch . no other motor past or future can give you working man performance like it was rich man hp dyno numbers. Reason way everyone an there grandma eveb a baby can see why they ls swop everything its couse . hp per dollor per 1hp per cubic inch means ls motors are the only motors that produce 1 hp per cubic inch ford dodge no high dollor sky line Supra also motor does that. Do your research an understan why even the die hearted ford man will put a Gm ls in his mustang vs a ford motor ls are proven bad ass hp per dollor mybad bout long txr. Just tried of people bashing or coming for Gm ls motors

But even when i was in my teens growing up racing on bk roads. I still didn't understand how people be down with Gm. But bash other Gm motors it dont make sense. Like i had an lt1 car we all thought that was fast if you had a 500 hp car you was the man. But now you have stock bottom end 5.3s maling a 1000hp by mastake
Then Gm new line of lt motors dry sump newer technology you either progress to what Gm is doing couse its a reason why Gm upgrade spend millions of there own money on new motors an how to make them hold more hp but can be use as a everyday car . In the car an racing world you either get with it or be lefted behing. Or get gapped buy a boat with factory 650-700 hp
Imagine bringing your brand new Mustang to the drag strip to get gapped like a stock Metro by a Jeep tank.

Other than not damaging rear brakes when warming up tires, what advantage is there? it was probably a 5.0 manual, because the 10speed auto does the same time completely stock without racing tires. Whats wrong with 12 second 1/4 mile on a $32k car that includes warranty? The only other car the Mustang can be compared to is the Camaro, these cars are in a league of their own in terms of price for performance in the US.
@@mellowd6085 not that i would personally buy one, but i mean it is faster than the BMW m4 in a straight line, and with the electromagnetic suspension it would actually be capable of driving a lot faster than the BMW M4 regarding daily use. I don't understand why people say a 12s 1/4m is slow on a stock vehicle.

loved my silver 5.9 GC only made them in 3 colors for that modle
But trailblazer is also newer tech and that doesn’t count not the same era or time. The 1998 5.9 grand Cherokee was fastest until the 2001 grand Cherokee 4.7 HO, then the grand Cherokee SRT8 came out.

And the old ones were reliable as well. The Hemi is a different story from what I’ve heard nowadays. I don’t see how Chrysler screwed up so badly with the Jeep Cherokee, damn things used to be reliable. Now what we have are fiat engines in a pile of junk

Just bought a 5.9 $1500!! but shes built for rock crawling. 10k invested into it from og owner who sold it to a military guy who drained tbe battery and sold it to me because he coulsnt get it ti start! New battery and terminals and she fired up.✌

Even the 5.2 was a sport cars killer

People seriously overlook small block Mopars, as soon as the stock heads are replaced they're great little motors that have some serious twist, wish more people would build them so props to this guy!

@@jeepsblackpowderandlights4305 fair enough, I personally am not a fan of magnum heads because of the cracking and the pedistal mounted rockers vs the shaft mounted rockers on an LA.
I worked at Chrysler dealership back in the early 2000s. The police came to the place because jeep had a special year or 2 I think when it had a 5.9. It was kicking ass and I use to transport them to different states lol

@william dohn I have owned 7 jeeps since 1977 still have 4 of them none leaks a drop of oil.that includes my 47 willys with the go devil engine. My 2004 grand Cherokee has over 400 thousand miles on it still original motor and drive train and it doesn't leak a drop.

The Trackhawks are nasty from a dig. They have a big gear ratio advantage with the 8 speed autos, the engine can spend basically all it's time at peak power.

People used to think I was crazy racing a daily driver zj 5.9 but when u beat most people and your moving 5000 lbs over 100mph your doing something right.
5.9 zj is 4300 not 5000 lbs.. but yes.. a 5.9 stock is faster than any muscle car from the 60-80s stock.. people dont understsnd just how slow the old iron was compared to the modern magnum 5.9

5.9 Magnum is great, old-school design but can still haul and the bottom ends clearly take a lot of abuse. I have one in my '70 Duster I pulled from a beat-up junkyard truck... didn't even need new rings I just put rod bearings in it and a decent top end for 450-ish HP, runs perfectly. $200 short block with a $3000 top end lol

a tuned track hawk can push into high 180s (mph) they are good but not nearly as good as the hemi
