People think of humility in the wrong way. Like it means devaluing yourself. Magnus doesn't do that, he knows he's the best at chess. He's humble in that he doesn't let that make him arrogant and self absorbed.

I think it might be because Magnus Carlson needed a good person to collab with to get into the twitch chess community (I'm assuming that's his goal) and Ludwigs the best option because he's not only the largest twitch streamer at this time but he's also decent at chess but not so good that he can't learn more from Magnus unlike other famous chess streamers like Hikaru and gothem chess

@@neddynedstar1060 there was a little drama fit in the high rated chess community awhile ago between the botez sisters and hikaru.
The Botez sisters would stream playing chess in the just chatting category of twitch instead of the chess category because it has a higher viewer base.
Hikaru does by far the most community outreach to keep the game of chess big and set up tournaments with sponsors for the prize pool, and said it hurt those efforts so much that one of the biggest chess streams wasn't in the chess category because the numbers wouldn't reflect how many people are interested in watching chess and sponsors wouldn't be as likely to hop on board.
The botez sisters had a pretty reasonable response of their point of view (I dont remember the highlights of it) for why they do it, and then Hikaru basically said that he still had his gripes from a professional standpoint but it was whatever and he didn't want all the drama around it.
Now neither party really beefs about it, it wasn't that big of a deal, and its old news but there's still weirdos being overly angry one way or the other.

@@xmhnab8737 Him streaming under Just Chatting is a jab at Hikaru, who complained publicly that the Botez sisters host their stream there. Hikaru's point is that it hurts sponsorships (which is true, and as he is reliant on them for income it does actually affect him). He got meme'd on, mostly because he has a toxic personality and perhaps also because many people don't understand the intricacies of how viewership in the chess category affect sponsorship deals. Magnus, however, doesn't give no fucks because he's Magnus and will earn his money through winning tournaments and other sources of sponsorship.

Hikarau seems like a fun decent guy in all the streams I've seen, but is just really places a lot of seriousness and import on competing on and winning with Magnus. Same with Magnus and his character and competitive streak. What am I missing? Is Hikarau perhaps bluntly honest at times about what he feels without being tactful? Or is it that he actually has terrible morals at times that I've missed?
