Well a lot of the episodes do have action. Granted, it can be a little samey sometimes, but it's something. And there are times where it can be surprisingly violent, and I like that.
Having watched the Game Grumps play Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric before even knowing the show existed, I was shocked with how actually funny the jokes were here.
Yeah, the show is weirdly good. No one is sure how that happened, though between it and Sonic Mania is REALLY raising the question of Sonic Team's Competency.

Big Red Button, the developers, had a lot of work put into the worldbuilding and character dynamics, the game was gonna release on anything but the Wii U, and things were looking good. Then Sega, in all of their infinite douchebaggery, decided to strike exclusivity deals with Nintendo and produce a tie-in cartoon with CN, all behind the team's back. This completely screwed them over. Game-wise: their engine was not designed to work on the Wii U, at all. They had to try and create a workable version of the engine themselves and brute force it on there, all while managing deadlines to also try and complete the game. A lot of features got cut and a lot of bugs and technical glitches were, naturally, left in. Story-wise: they were forced to adopt the tone of the now in-production cartoon. Plenty of stuff was cut, either for time, or to tie in better with the show. Sega also gave them weird restrictions. They couldn't have a tinkering character in the game because...Tails also tinkers? They couldn't create their own backstory for THEIR version of Sonic because...Sega said they might want to show the backstory for their own Sonic one day? So all that had to be cut, too. Though if you look at the architecture in the final game, remnants of those ideas remain. TL;DR: Sega is their own worse enemy, but this time, they brought someone else down with them. The result was Rise of Lyric.

The show could have been a giant hit if the game didn't ruin it for them, God that game was a train wreck. I heard the fire & ice game was good, but I was given the wiiu game as birthday gift and was so disappointed I wanted nothing to do with the series. Unfortunate, but thats what happens when companies would rather Meer a holiday deadline than actually finishing the game.

Some clarity on the game for wiiu if nobody knows, rushing it did cause some problems but mainly Sega Japan messed the game up off jump with terrible decisions. They got big red button to make the game for an engine that was suited to be on PS4 and Xbox One, but due to Sega and Nintendo's contract that they had going on at the time, Sega came to big red button pretty much last minute to tell them that they needed to put the game on Wii u exclusively, and the Wii u could not handle the engine at all, they had to do whatever they could just to make sure the game would run at all,which is why the game is the way it is, otherwise it would have just been boring as opposed to being both boring and broken lol
Also they completely changed the storyline Big Red button had laid out. The game was originally called sonic synergy and would have explored Sonic's origins and how eggman was originally his friend before becoming his foe. Sonic Boom is my favorite Sonic show. It has such great comedy, and I'm in the group of people who actually likes Knuckles. I also really like the action. Sometimes, it can feel a little samey, but other times, it can be really engaging and surprisingly violent. It sucks that it got cancelled.
