- The man who plays the greatest music on the greatest stage of all in his final performance. I cosplay as him at Anime Expo and really wish I knew where to find a recording for the song he plays in this clip (It's not Permanent Vacation or Fool's Paradise) This is my dedication to Midvalley the Hornfreak. The show must go on!
Imagine if Midvalley existed in the Cowboy Bebop universe and he had a scuffle with Spike. Instant top tier episode.
It's funny since Midvalley has the same French VA as Spike.
And in italian he does with wolfwood.
I now need a crossover between both shows. 😭

You know what I just realized? Cash and Knives are about even power level wise. Mensing that if he can beat vash he can probably beat knives.

As a tenor player myself, when he shouted about his low Bb being gone, I felt that too hard-

The Midvalley fight has some of the most beautiful animation in the series.
In other words; Midvalley can synchronize sound waves from his saxophone with the painful receptors in the human body; causing pain to the body.

I feel like Legato told Midvalley to kill himself just to push Vash even further. Knives didn't want Vash to die, he moreso wanted Vash to suffer instead. Hence why neither Legato or Knives never tried to kill Vash directly even though the could've at any given moment.
That being said, the contrast between the two brothers was highlighted beautifully in my opinion.
Considering he witnessed Knives' brutal disposing of fellow Gung Ho Gun Chapel, it's no wonder Midvalley opted through suicide. He would have spent his last moments suffering unbelievable pain and torture if Knives or Legato caught wind of his failure to take down Vash.
The same things aplys to Vash, if he wanted he could had killed them all at any given moment, but he choose not to.
I hope Midvalley is in the new anime coming out next year, and they keep him as the one “normal” guy in the Guns who realizes how nucking futs this situation keeps getting.

certain sound frequencies can actually cause physical harm to the listener. He says the same line in the Japanese version. Its not written well but thats what it means.

@@inutetsaiga1 exactly like that, in fact extreme sound can even be deadly (though that level requires a lot of power).
The problem is more that he said that it syncs up with pain while we're being shown inanimate objects being destroyed and bullets being stopped in midair, meaning it's clearly doing much more than just pain.

What Midvalley said about Knives was beautiful. This scene made me cry.
I really hope they do a Maximum reboot. The anime just doesn't do Midvalley justice.

There is no such thing as an honorable death. Only an honorable life. Neither of the Gung-Ho guns had one.
Midvalley in the manga was a hitman disguised as a jazz musician and had two partners. In the manga, Midvalley hated Knives and was forced to join his Gung-ho Guns gang.
Something about the part at 2:32 is just SO sexy of a tune.

Seriously he did not bring some extra guns, I mean I know Midvalley was not supposed to kill Vash but come on I would have kept my options open, fight until I can't fight anymore. But then again I guess it was "either die your way or die to Legato or Knives." But I just find it funny how I see this scene, in his head he's like "So you have bested me Vash, haha but you are sadly mistaken for I have plan b which will in no way harm you, but will take my life instead. Now take this *Pulls Trigger* BOOM! LMAO
Midvalley killing himself was deliberate and all part of the plan. (-_-)
He was never going to kill Vash; his purpose was to threaten innocent people and see if maybe, just maybe, he could pressure Vash in to killing him to stop it (which failed).
Then as a "fuck you" to Vash's philosophy and a nod towards Knives' philosophy that saving one person inevitably has repercussions for somebody else Midvalley kills himself.
Midvalley, like all of the Gung-Ho Guns, knew that they were being sent against Vash to die. Either by his hand if they could push him to do so, or by Knives' hand to cause Vash pain.
Even earlier Caine the Longshot committed suicide after he'd been defeated by Vash and E.G. Mine killed Dominique and Monev, all part of Knives' games and twisted logic.
I never interpreted it as him intentionally killing himself. He probably didn't notice the barrel was damaged on the gun part of his saxophone.
It was intentional. The Gung-ho Guns were following Knives' instructions. Their jobs were to force Vash to kill [to protect], therein agreeing, or approving Knives' philosophical view on humans and how they related to Vash and Knives. If the Gung-ho Guns were unable to force Vash to go against his philosophy then they would kill themselves because
A. It is contradicting Vash's pacifism by proving somebody MUST die, be it the innocents or the villians.
B. death by their hands or Vash's would surely be a blessing compared to what Knives would do if they failed him.
In the end the GhG members had no choice because Knives will kill who he wants when he wants. And abiding his will, makes their passing much less painful. You must remember Vash and Knives are bros. Knives just wants Vash to stop being so silly and accept he is correct. He doesn't want Vash dead. He just wants him to understand. Knives knew nobody on the planet could come close to killing Vash, except for Knives himself ofc.

I find it interesting that Vash could have ended this and every other fight in the blink of an eye if he really wanted to. However he struggles this much because he chooses not to harm his enemies. Horrible misuse of his powers but it adds drama.
Always makes me wonder how dangerous some people got back on earth in Trigun

Good point. I was also confused when one of the characters used his magic demon arm to blow a whole in the moon. There's no way in HELL he could do that. Even in a cartoon, jesus.

When I switched from chrome to firefox, this was coincidentally the first youtube video I looked up. Because of this, firefox made a youtube shortcut on its start-up page that leads directly to this video (but the shortcut is just labelled "CZcams" with the red play button logo). Every time I open to youtube on my PC for any reason, it starts showing me Trigun: The Death of Midvalley the Hornfreak. I have no plans to change this, I just thought you might enjoy knowing 👍
