It really does do wonders for team morale. Even at my hospitality job, I've found a sincere "thank you" from the managers goes a long way toward motivating us to go above and beyond my duties, whereas not getting any at all for long stretches makes us want to do just the bare minimum of our job description.

As a News Anchor I always have to say “Thank you” to the field reporters even if it is their job. Because they wake up CRAZY EARLY to go out to a scene where they don’t know what will happen. With so much rudeness becoming commonplace in society, I think we as a nation could certainly benefit from more manners in our daily lives.
Whether it's the lady from Walmart that delivered my mother's order to the house, the guy from FedEx who delivered my car parts, or the customer that tips me their leftover change from their coffee purchase, a genuine "thank you" goes a looong way. I also deliver newspapers, each and every tip I receive gets a handwritten "Thank You" note. The first year I did my route I received several response notes along the lines of "You're the first carrier we've had who's actually thanked us." To me, that is so sad...

That solution was funny. The person who complained about the "Thank you's" needs to get a life.

If that's the major complaint (too much politeness) than that person must have a f*****g wonderful life! Personally, I don't want to live in a world where people don't thank each other.

they thank the field reporter for doing all the leg work travelling enduring the weather, rude locals. while they sit and read off a teleprompter.. they appreciate the work since some of them did it too before they landed the gig.

What kind of person emails the news team to let them know they don't need to say thanks to their colleagues? How in the world would that bother someone--just amazing!
