Now this is a nice TK elevator for a parking garage. A couple updates is that the messed up indicator has been fixed, and the call button 4, or the top floor, what ever you wanna call it, was replaced with an aurora fixture.
I thought they were, but my guess is that the ThyssenKrupp office in north Roanoke Va maybe had some old aurora buttons before they were discontinued in 2008.

It'll likely fall a little faster than it's normal speed, and land on the buffer springs in the pit. Traction models have so many safeties, you're about 10,000 times more likely to be in a plane crash, than an elevator crash.

A roped elevator has a braking system on the car in case the ropes break. A hydraulic elevator is only supported by hydraulic pressure. A broken hydraulic line can cause the elevator to drop abruptly to the pit, this rarely happens if the lines, valves and piston seals are properly maintained but I would strongly discourage anyone from standing in the doorway of the elevator as there may be no other braking system to keep the elevator from dropping in the event of a hydraulic failure.
