Thank you sony for not giving up on phones
Unfortunately it's not available in india.
At this point I think they are not trying hard enough and should give up.

@@nawabsahab6461 why would you want less competition.specially one with neat features.
Just a little thank you to you guys, that you’re still producing nice Xperia reviews, while other channels don’t care about Sony phones. Thanks! 🙏
Xperia needs to introduce affordable mid-range and entry-range phones for others to care ❗
@@AchwaqKhalidactually correct but why apple is so big even they dont have cheaper phones is it because apple phones is a celebrity phone?
I'm glad that Sony has stuck with the 3.5mm input. I hate that so many manufacturers now have ditched it. Like, maybe I don't want to use bluetooth and waste my battery
or use external DAC to waste even more battery
And not to mention, Bluetooth Quality suck compared to wired
@@rizwannasirThat's simply not true.
@@mandroid5678 it is though. You can't beat a wired headphone.
@@rizwannasir Even bluetooth 5.2?
I'm upgrading from Xperia 1 III to Xperia VI and I love it. My only complaint is the removal of the notification LED. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the telephoto Macro camera.
Samsung is not an option, because they ditched the SD card slot. No SD card slot = no buy. Don't care about the loss of the 4k screen. I'd rather have more battery life.
1 iii has better telephoto overall :(
@@4paapii But crappy macro.
I wouldn't mind with either of them. Because here I am, still with the Xperia 5. (yes the first ever Xperia 5)
Finally, I read a seriously in-depth comparison for both models. Excellent job, my friend!
My preference will be battery life over anything, because at the end of the day that is only matters
I'd go for the OP12 if you're currently looking. You can lower the fps for movie apps to 60 and get 25 hours of screentime. You can get more by lowering resolution among other things, and it charges from 0 to 100 in 32 mins. I'm considering the Xperia V as a secondary handset for Black Friday. I miss hi res audio from the headphone jack.
@@BodDiv xperia 1 v automatically lowers fps for video. But outside of video content they are so behind with their constant 120hz, when they even said themselves they are prioritizing battery and sustainability (battery is still good though, I always charge to 80%). Also coming from OP I miss the fingerprint sensor actually working and screen off gestures also the 1 v could be wider
@@laurenz6760 you can set 60Hz instead of 120Hz.
@@mh-no1nz I prefer 120, other phones just dynamically lower hz on static content
That is the only thing that matters for you. The 1V is unfortunately my first Sony phone since the Z1S and I love the aspect ratio of this screen. I definitely don't want to go back to a wider phone but when this one dies it looks like I might have to.
I like Xperia 1V, better than VI.
For 4K screen & 19.5:9 ratio✅
Then you're delusional.
Same. Dolby Atmos for movies. Only phone that can do that with streaming apps. Plus, no bars when viewing modern films.
I have the mk 4 and now the mk6. The Mark 6 is far superior. Screen is much nicer. Are you basing your decision from a review? Or have you used the devices yourself?
@@gareths9574heating issues?
I'd love a video comparing the last flagships/high midrange with expandable storage. It's a deciding factor for me now.
Good video, but you failed to mention the new Mk6 has HI-RES WIRELESS audio,
a new feature which sounds superb! 😊
Thank you Will and team. Just what I was waiting for 👌🏾
Will go for the V for now, thx a lot for the rich info on both devices 👍🏻
Some of the reason why I keep buying Sony phones since 2019 other than micro SD slot and near stock android is that tall 21:9 aspect ratio. I'm definitely going to get 1 Mk V if I ever need an upgrade, though newer Mk VI is definitely the better phone for the majority of people.
Mk VI is better for me, because i would get experience bigger movies on youtube, and better to watch my photos and videos on + better battery life.
@@PeterEk31 21:9 aspect ratio on Mk V and older is actually the better experience for movies. Can't say the same for TV shows or CZcams videos which mostly use 16:9 in this case Mk VI is better suited. Also Mk VI should be a better experience for Instagram or Tiktok use than Mk V...I don't use either of those but I do use split screen a lot which is where taller screen from previous Xperias shines.
As I said, Mk VI is the phone majority of people would like whereas Mk V caters to niche audience like me.
@@GjordDeLad05no need to waste 1000$ for xperia 1 mark v, u can buy xperia 1 mark 1 with 21:9 at 4k resolution for movie for only 100$
@@archie7288 I'm on Xperia 1 Mk II, got it for $350 a couple year ago and it's fantastic. I'm skipping Mk III & IV because of heat issue Snapdragon 888 and 8 gen 1 caused. When Mk V finally at affordable price then I'm going for it.
@@GjordDeLad05 im now on xperia 5 mk ii but this phone is really sucked at heat dissipation, getting hot even on idle sometimes
I will choose the 1VI. The aspect ratio, battery life, and unified camera app appeal to me.

Unless you already experienced 4k content on a 4k screen and if you regularly watch 4k content, you really dont need a 4k screen.
Personally, im always willing to trade screen resolution for prolonged battery life, as thats whats most important *to me.* Others might prefer a higher resolution screen and thats fine.
Although i think people make too big of a fuss about it in this case.
I see your point. But having a 4K means having a sharper screen at all times, even when downscaled.
I really like that in my Xperia. So I find it hard to move to a less resolution screen
the funny thing is your screen doesnt really use that 4k its literally useless.@@ryugalaw
@@TimmyT-ri5lo It's not useless. The PPI is still much higher. And with this, there's a clear difference in sharpness.

I've already uploaded lots of pictures to Facebook.Oh yes and the autofocus is probably much better.

It's more brighter overall better
You do not say what settings you used for the photos - did I miss it. I upgraded from the mark 4 to 6, love them both

How is a OS smoothness ? Im my current Mark V, it is lagging, specially when exiting camera app.
Yeah nah. I prefer 1 V for the 21:9 and 4k.
Don't care for battery life that much... To pay THAT much more money.
They could go for a thicker device to get a bigger battery like 6k mAh...
I think most people wouldn't mind it.
A step in the wrong direction.
Does the new Xperia VI line-up not also have longer Android software & security update support than the predecessor line-up?
3 android releases years and 4 years software updates… Ive got one 1VI in kakhi green with kakhi green Sony cover, looks like an army gadget..
Great review 👍
IMO the Xperia 1 VI is the pinnacle of the smartphone development for the last couple of years, Sony fixed everything needs fixing and packed the latest and greatest there is in every aspect!
I wish the Xperia 5 VI would get the same updates plus the wireless charging!
Thank you. My 5 MkII just recently sustained damage on it's display and I'm just stuck on which Xperia I should upgrade to. Love my Mk II even though it's not as refined. Although, the Mk VI seems enticing with all it's new and updated features, I might just go for the reduced price route and go for the Mk V. It's like buying a car. Do I really need to spend a bit more for extra features? lol.
So I've been rocking a Galaxy S20+ since it released and have not been interested in upgrading since. But now I feel sometime in the near future I may want to upgrade to a new phone, and the Sony ones have been on my eye for quite while.
What would be a good upgrade to go from a Galaxy S20+ user? The Xperia 5 V or the Xperia 1 VI?
A QHD+ (1440P) Display would made the VI more complete
I read there was a bug with the telephoto and the value shown didn't correspond to the real zoom.
Maybe wirh that fixed there's a visible difference.
I'm still using and I still love the feature of Xperia 1 V it's more Sony typical and now I'm waiting for Xperia pro c
What are the antennas like compared to the mark iv or v? This is my biggest gripe with my mark iv.
fair review as always
The MK6's unified camera app is indeed a huge downgrade.
There is a good reason to seperate the camera app into 3 different apps in the old design which is never mentioned in any GSMArena review. Indeed in motion video world there are two different classes of video format and they have two different workflows addressing different requirements - video base and film based. Even Sony also offer two different lineup of hardware in her own professional solution division. Video base is more towards broadcasting and film based is more towards movie industry.
E.g. video base = XDCAM camcoders
Film based = CineAlta camcoders
The old Video Pro app is indeed mimicking XDCAM operations and Cinema Pro app is mimicking CineAlta camcoders.
Was thinking they fixed the point and shoot to match up with the compettition...
I hope that the 1V gets the new Camera App and a slight improvement in Macro shooting with the new Android 15 update
Forget it
@@BrbZrk_2 why?

Since the 1V fixed the overheating issue from the 1 IV, its super soild. My only gripe is the stock android experience is a bit too stock compares to One UI. Ill be keeping my 1V for another 5 yrs or so.
Watching this from an qled samsung tv I saw much difference in color saturation when you were comparing the cameras. Stuff like grass was oversaturated on the right side.
I have an Xperia 1 IV and do not consider switching. I love it
Same. Still loving my 1 iv ❤
I have a 1 IV and still not worth the upgrade. Unless they sort out their software support snd the crappy wide angle and zoom, ill be swapping brands. Shame as all my other stuff is sony. In low light the telephoto is so bad its unusable, even on a summer night
For the appearance and grip of the xperia 1 v but for the quality and specifications of the xperia 1 vi
I have 1ii it still runs great
The day they introduce it, I'm being the first buyer
Battery life is incredible.
If I need to watch 4K there's always a monitor or a TV.
That's pretty dumb LoL.
How about on the go? Are you going to carry a monitor around??? 🤣
@hazza_007
Yeah right 😂 When 4k is incredibly redundant given undiscernible small pixel area density.
1vi would have less charge cycles to preserve the battery life. 1 v with its non ltpo screen would destroy it so fast. 4k is never worth halving it or more.
@@sephatu6521 the screen is much better on the Xperia 1 V
The Xperia 1 VI is overpriced for what it offers
@@sephatu6521 Sony Xperia batteries degrade fast regardless of how you treat it so that's irrelevant. I don't use a Sony phone more than 12 months
Not much of a difference. I'll keep my Mark V for another couple of years.
I'm a Sony fanboy, and had the Xperia I ii, and quite simply it was the best mobile device i ever used. I was going to buy the new vi, but I just can't get over the fact that Sony isn't going to provide more than 3 years of android updates. Pixel is now 7 years and so are samsung flagship phones. I really wish Sony wasn't so stubborn on that, and its pricing.
Been using Sony for almost 14 years, today just bought the Mark V after using the Xperia 5 and Mark III combined the past 4.5 years, unless I feel very differently, this may be my last Sony phone ever.
I appreciated Sony for having the guts to think different yet price their phones similar to Samsungs and Apple. With 1 iii they gave earphones, charger, cable and a nice box.
For almost 1450$ the Xperia 1 VI gets a poverty spec box reminiscent of what we get in supermarket egg cartons, no notification lights, no dynamic vibration system, no 4K (ok its overrated) and zero accessories.
I grudgingly bought the 1 V 512 gb for 1100$ due to poor battery life after 3 years of use in 1 iii, no notification lights, an egg carton box which I threw out immediately and zero accessories.
I feel like a donkey for endorsing Sony's 4K marketing and a very weird 21:9 ratio which many were making fun of, only to have Sony make a U-Turn and then say they were wrong in the past and 1080p is just as good and 19.5:9 ratio is better, they just pissed me off with that.
Been a pleasure being your customer, Sony, alas we must part ways at this point, your 1 VI is just insanely priced. The 1 V may serve me a couple of years, after that its Apple for me, way more consistent.
No LED indicator it's a shame for Sony
For that kind of money I will keep my V VI is not an upgrade
Indeed ✅
Fuc the VI, such a waste of time waiting for a so called flagship. I went with the V instead, it's in my hands right now 👍
Looking forward to the Xperia 5 mk 6 if/when that comes out.
Well... I guess it doesn't really matter since the 6 is not coming to the US.
Been waiting all this time to upgrade to the 6 just to find out it is region locked so importing I don't think is an option. 😭
Thanks for fair review. I wish SONY had provided zoom quality as SAMSUNG does, then it would undoubtedly been my first choice. I am still using my S8 and waiting to buy another brand

Sony haven’t always used the best dac in their phones, certainly compared to LG. So I’d be keen to know what the dac is and what it’s like.
It's using Qualcomm stock DAC with Sony just adding some software effects & not Sony's own DAC like in their Walkmans/Media Players.
@@gamerdudegamerdude4961 that’s a shame:(
The fact that i'm watching this on Xperia 1ii on 4k resolution with 10% of the VI price tells me to keep this for 1 more year 😂

TLDR: Get the Xperia 1 V if you want 4K screen, better grip since 21:9 and slightly lighter.
Get the Xperia 1 VI if you want, better macro cam, longer continuous zoom, longer software support, longer battery life and subjectively better UI.

iPhone has caught up to this I think. Their wide angle and zoom lenses are larger
The 1vi is the better phone overall but downgrading the screen and using the same sensors should've resulted a cheaper price to make it acceptable to Sony users.
21:9 was a main selling point for most buyers.
I don't see 1V users buying this just for a bit better performance you won't notice, better battery life and better speakers while losing 21:9 4k screen and the pro camera apps
