    6 months in the chevy dealership, still not fixed.End up replacing the starter, computer. Sure wished I had seen this first. And I know how much of a pain this is to drive with low engine power. But I will watch you again, thank you so much. I need more of you. You're a pro, with honesty, keep up the good work.

    Sure helped me! 2003 two-wheel drive Chevy 1500 Silverado. A complete fix thank you! Can’t imagine what the circumstances might have been had this occurred at highway speeds. Engine light out now, reduced power warning gone, engine behaves as normal. Earth wire connection at bolt behind engine block almost corroded through. Only had to give it a slight tweak and it broke easily. Spliced in a new length of wire with end fitting attached to cleaned engine earth point on bulkhead! Very happy now! Great video! Thanks for your time in making this excellent video! Good luck! (from Canada)

      That's awesome man I'm glad that it helped you out! It's definitely frustrating when your lacking acceleration and can't figure it out. I remember 1 time My tahoe stalled on a steep hill before I cleaned all my grounds and there was a long line of cars behind me super embarrassing 😳 without that moment happening and me being like well this isn't normal, idk if I ever would have been determined enough to figure it out lol because when I got the Tahoe it already had the slow acceleration, so I thought it was just heavy and normal but then that hill thing happened and I knew I had a problem with it lol

    Great video man... that's one thing that can cause engine reduced power... also a faulty throttle position sensor in 07 and up vehicles... the ground you were referring to is attached to the back of the driver's side cylinder head... its a braided wire from the factory but I would change it to no less than a 2 gauge wire and also change the battery to chassis ground...

      Thanks i appreciate it! I'm not sure if i mentioned it in the video but i have the big 3 in my Tahoe with all 0 gage ofc wiring, plus the original wiring, so i have still have the braided wire and i still have the regular battery ground, but then i have upgraded wiring on top of that, wires on wires on wires, haha i had to install it all when i had a power draining audio system lol. But yeah definitely appreciate the advise! and im glad u enjoyed the video if only all my videos did this good lol

    Thanks for the video, I’ve been having the same issue with my 2003 Escalade I want to say every two months I’m having to replace my throttle body with a new one it rides fine then low engine power I’m wondering if it could be a ground issues as well. Any ideas

    • @BlackWidowdetailing
      @BlackWidowdetailing  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey man thanks for watching the video
      It's possible it's a ground issue, but it could also be the pigtail that connects into the throttle body assuming that u have drive by wire throttle body, check for any cracked wires or wires that are extremely loose
      It's really weird that it would be the throttle body everytime it happens, they're designed to last a long time.
      If I were you, I would clean the throttle body or make sure it's clean, also pick up a can of mass air flow sensor cleaner and make sure that it is clean sometimes they get dirty and reduce engine power, I clean my regularly to help keep my engine running its best, also check all the grounds make sure they are clean, there's usually grounds under the truck on the frame they can get rusty so make sure to clean them up as well
      It's always difficult to diagnose a reduced engine power especially in your situation, it was simular to what I went through and it took me awhile to figure it out but for me it was definitely the ground that ran to the back left of the engine, but once I relocated it and used a good wire I haven't had any more issues.
      Hope this helps bro

    I love ur vids man. I have an issue though. I have a 2005 chevy Silverado crew cab with a 5.3. It idles as if it were cammed. The rpm just go up and down from like 400-900 rpm and sometimes it will stall. I have changed the intake manifold along with the injectors and throttle body and throttle body harness. I also replace the ground that goes from the chassis to hood. I haven’t changed the one behind the engine. That ground where it connects to the engine is covered in oil due to valve cover leak(already replaced gasket) should I replace that ground? Or can I re wire another wire to mimic that wire since u mentioned it’s very difficult to get to? Thank you ! God bless you!

    • @BlackWidowdetailing
      @BlackWidowdetailing  Před 2 lety

      Thank you I really appreciate it 🙏
      I'd definitely either do your best to clean it or snip and reroute it but whenever it was bad for me it just wouldn't start.. Have u hooked your truck up to a obd reader? I do know sometimes unplugging the mass air flow sensor can cause that also u may try doing a throttle body relearn procedure since u replaced the intake and throttle body it may be throwing the ecu off because it learns overtime what air fuel ratio to use and dirty manifolds and Throttle body's restrict air flow so if u replace with something clean it could possibly be trying to pull in too much fuel and air causing it too chop lol
      So definitely start with the throttle body relearn procedure, it's pretty easy to do look up some videos on it and then double check mass air flow sensor wiring and make sure it isn't bad u can pick up a can of mass air flow sensor Cleaner as well
      I clean mine every few months along with throttle body and everything else keeps the engine running at its optimal range lol
      Hope that helps 🙏

I have the exact same problem in my 07 Silverado 4.8L, at a complete stop it fluctuates from like 400-900 rpm’s and I noticed when it drops to around the 400s my lights will dim a tad bit and ac will blow less hard and when it goes up to the 900s my lights get a little brighter.

  • @jamesbeck5334
    @jamesbeck5334 Před 3 lety +1

    The ground wire on the firewall runs to a ground on the back of the engine; is this correct? Is this the ground for the throttle body sensors?

    • @BlackWidowdetailing
      @BlackWidowdetailing  Před 3 lety +2

      If you're talking about the flat ground wire then yes it runs to the back of the engine. From my understanding of how it works is basically its there just to complete the ground circuit and so the other things like throttle body grounds can just be grounded to the engine itself vs running a separate ground for each sensor. Pretty much its like a main ground for all the sensors but the throttle body ground is going to be grounded to the engine somewhere. I believe its the black and white wire that comes out from the harness and goes into the back of the block but i don't know forsure. I tried searching it but couldn't find much on that specific wire 😕

      @BlackWidowdetailing  Před 3 lety

      Thank you this wire is located back behind the intake manifold, the wire runs from a wire harness into the back of the engine block, it's really hard to see because of its location you will need to put u hand behind the engine and feel for the wire that is grounded to the engine once u find it u can follow that wire up to the harness and then cut that wire and relocate it to the spot where I put mine just make sure to use some good quality wire life ofc wire

    ❤Great video bud. I got a question the black and white wire you say is connected to the rear of the engine block appears to be coming out the wire harness. How did you figure out that was the wire that was connected to the block if you can't really see it?

      Oh ok I'll do my best to find it but let me ask you. I have the old HUMMER H2 and a few days ago I attempted to start my truck it came on for about 5 seconds and cut off as if it was low on fuel or something but wasn't. When I tried to start it back up I got a clicking sound and it sounded like electricity was simply free flowing through the entire wire harness under the hood when attempting to send electrical power to the truck without trying to start it.
      I couldn't figure out what was going on so the truck stayed sitting for two days and I do have a kill switch that I installed. When I came back to the truck two days later and turned on the kill switch to reactivate the power to the truck I heard a loud pop sounded like a gunshot 😳 and then I saw smoke coming from the passenger side of the engine. All of this happened without the truck even being on. If you know of any possible clues as to what has happened let me know when you get the chance because for the moment I'm lost.🤷

      Man that's pretty weird. Honestly I'm not sure what it would be, have u checked to see what your voltage is? At the battery and at the alternator? To me It sounds kind of like a voltage issue which can cause reduced engine power because of the electronic throttle body it needs to have the right amount of voltage ⚡
      Also if your grounds aren't good it can cause voltage issues

      @BlackWidowdetailing  Před 2 lety

      I'm good man thank you for asking😌
      It does sound like it may be a ground issue, has it done it again?
      I would start by cleaning all the grounds that are connected to the frame, anywhere that dirt and grime has built up! Try that and If it does it again, then look under the hood and see if u can find any engine grounds and clean those, usually they're connected to the firewall and to the engine block, after doing that if the battery cables are dirty clean those as well... The problem with ground issues, is they're a pain in the ass to troubleshoot, as they can cause a lot of different symptoms, and sometimes no Cel light and sometimes ital be a false cel light typically mine would say it lost communication with the Throttle body
      Hope this helps man

    Could this potentially be the culprit?

    • @BlackWidowdetailing
      @BlackWidowdetailing  Před 3 lety

      Possibly I'd try letting it run for 30 minutes or so while in reduced power mode and see if any codes pop up
      If not clean all your grounds and even your throttle body and if the engine is similar u can search for that same wire that goes to the back of the block, not the braided 1 but the 1 i fix in this video, check and see if its broken or if u can't get it off to clean the contact then u can cut it and rewire it like i did just make sure you are 100 percent sure its the right wire. Also clean your maff sensor sometimes they get dirty and will do the same thing
      Also bad coil packs can cause reduced engine power but usually u would get some type of misfire code.

    • @BlackWidowdetailing
      @BlackWidowdetailing  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey man thanks! I appreciate it
      It's possible a loose connection could cause it, because what happens is as all that corrosion builds up it can cause voltage issues, with all these newer cars, the sensors need to see the right voltage to work properly and if for some reason that voltage dips then it can start throwing off your fueling, your spark, mass air flow sensor, etc any of that could possibly cause reduced engine power. But idk forsure 🤷 You're probably just fooling yourself 🤣 hopefully that's all it was tho lol

      @BlackWidowdetailing  Před 3 lety

      Just a click like the truck won't start at all? If so Have u checked the starter?
      Also u may try a different ground location. And another thing u can do is clean all your ground connections and make sure there is no corrosion or rust built up if its the same vehicle there is a ground under driver side door that is prone to rust idk forsure if that's your problem but at least doing all that will eliminate the possibility if it being a ground issue, but if the starter is bad then sometimes u will just hear a click when u try to start the truck, u can hit the starter with a hammer a few times and see if it will help it to engage when u turn the truck over but look up a couple videos on how to do it first
