    I wish these types of devices weren't so expensive. I would use this everyday, multiple times a day. I use an iPad for my meeting notes (improved cognition and recall) but e-paper is vastly superior. Thanks for the long term review!

    JB! I'm now listening to your audiobook and loving your stuff! I'm taking notes on a reMarkable2, thanks in part to a 2-year-old video of yours (I know the competition is fierce in the e-ink tablet scene, but I really just wanted a digital replacement to paper... I'm all about the handwriting). I love your enthusiasm and I'm loving your book! :-)

      @@morningcoach Thx JB. Its so hard to guess what Remarkable's next move is with the device. I have one that i'm well within the return period on; its tempting to send it back; maybe they will release a new model later this year or in 2024. I made a comment/observation in one of the Facebook Remarkable groups about the official Remarkable photos of the device's screen looking more white in appearance than the actual grey screen. That drew some sharp rebukes by people that swear by Remarkable that "all i need to do is turn on a light." Some in the community agreed with my observation, though. The problem for me is that i'm rarely in the ultra light settings that make the Remarkable's content actually readable to an aging (okay 54) set of eyes. The Supernote (i bought earlier this summer), to me, has a much whiter surface and better contrast than the Remarkable, even though it also lacks lighting. Looking forward to the videos. Best! Don

    Hey Mate, thanks for your review. Two questions:
    1. With a kindle scribe you can also make annotations inside an ebook. Is this also possible with the kindle app?
    2. What kind of "tablet holder" are you using? It's pretty convenient. (e.g. at 2:55)

    • @yensteel
      @yensteel Před 4 dny

    I just bought it ! I've had a Bookeen since last year and I'm happy with it (10.3").
    I didn't want to buy the Remarkable, which has a closed system and requires a subscription...
    The Boox Tab X is expensive, very expensive ! I hesitated and your video convinced me to buy it. I use Onenote, but I don't know if I'll be able to use it on the Book, even if it does allow it. On my Bookeen, it's impossible because there's too much latency. Thanks for your video.

    How do you like reading on it versus a 10" display?

  • @SouthernFryd
    @SouthernFryd Před 9 měsíci +2

    I am a musician who uses a Surface Pro for PDF files, live on stage. The screen is too small for me, but I do have great PDF File management with either Adobe Acrobat or Drawboard.
    How is this for PDF File management? I make setlists composed of PDF Files (1 pdf per song) that I can then call up when starting a new set. I Import and export PDF files. I mark them up with notes. Move them around continuously. Sometime change fonts or size, maybe make a 2 page pdf because it's easier to read on stage, etc...you probably get the idea :)
    I sure like the "readability" of an e-reader...and the size of this would be great. Just concerned about the file management system. I ONLY want it for reading and manipulating PDF files quickly. Not going to use it for a calender, reading books, etc. Just songs in PDF format...that I can actually see on stage ;)
    Would this be a good fit?

    • @morningcoach
      @morningcoach  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I want to test this for you but what I do know is they make special musician Bluetooth pedals for turning the pages. The PDF reader is really good and being 54 I like the size. It is an expensive device but for what u are doing it may be perfect. Just an fyi they have music note templates so you can make notes also.
      I hate to give advice on something I don’t do but I think this would be a great fit. There are some quirks to it but size, changing pages with a Bluetooth pedal etc…. It’s is a great pic for musicians

    • @SouthernFryd
      @SouthernFryd Před 8 měsíci +2

      Thank you so much for your quick response. I think I am going to give it a try and buy one. I don't use music notation, Just PDF files that have lyrics and chords on them. Usually only 1-2 pages per song. So, I wont need a page turner or fancy music chart software...just good PDF management and file system since I literally have a thousand Song PDFS. I'll check back in after a get one and try it out. Thanks again :) @@morningcoach

      @@SouthernFryd PLEASE let me know I used to recommend the Onyx Boox LUMI - the OLD one for that also. This one has so much better software. This will work for that I am sure. The size allows you to read it, the lights make it great at night, and you can mark it up. I am excited to see how it works for you. It is pricey, but it's your music!!! I think you will like the battery life too. Can't wait to see how it works out.

      @@morningcoach Hi, Coach!
      Ok, I've had this for about several months now. And, overall...it's been pretty damn awesome :) Small, lightweight. No harsh glare that lights up my face in a dark room. Very easy to read and add notes to each PDF. I use it a lot.
      I Do have a couple of software issues tho. The biggie is some of my PDF's are in Landscape mode and some I use in Portrait mode...depending on how many words and chords in the songs. I have an issue with auto-rotate. I have to click it on for almost every PDF...which is a pain to do in the middle of a set. Flipping the computer is not an issue, but then going into the software to find the auto-rotate function and click it on is distracting. I think it says something about Type of files you can do it with...but, they're all just plain PDF files. I haven't figured out how to make it do all of them automatically when I turn the computer.
      Any ideas?
      As far as the file/folder management system. Kinda clunky. Basically, I do all that on my computer and then just transfer completed files/folders to the Boox. Much easier. Boox is great as a viewer/reader in my situation...not so great for file/folder management and manipulation. You can do it, but it takes me forever. Not intuitive at all.
      Anyway, overall I think it is a very good purchase. Much better than using a laptop or Surface Pro, which I was using. The E-INK is the selling feature. So much easier to read on stage and in any lighting condition.
      Thanks again.
      - Steve

    Is the surface matte like glass?

    • @morningcoach
      @morningcoach  Před 8 měsíci +1

      It’s not the best writing experience. It really depends on the nib with the pin you’re using, but it is more glassy than scratchy if that makes sense.
