I was thinking of getting an e-ink tablet for the past two years, but never could decide if it's the right choice. I've tried many note taking solutions, but there always was something that didn't really work for me and I found myself always going back to the idea of an e-ink tablet. After seeing your videos I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy the Tab Ultra. I have it for a bit over two weeks now and I'm in love with the device, it works great for my note taking needs and I'm constantly finding new ways of incorporating it into my workflow. Hi! I follow your CZcams channel with great pleasure, so I bought a Boox Ultra C tablet with which I am very satisfied... I have a question though... At work, I work on a computer with a web-based application that is optimized for Chrome... I installed Chrome on the tablet but most of the time I can't launch the application on the tablet even though I try to open it in the Chrome environment... Do you know what could be done? I also tried in the Opera environment on the tablet but I can't either... A second question is the following: which application should I use so that I can scan with the tablet in pdf format and also with the application I can send the pdf file by email or whatsapp... Hello, I think it is probably because you are using the chrome mobile app on the Boox, and on the computer you are in desktop mode. Some web apps need the full desktop browser to work, whereas some might work if you grab the three dots and click "request desktop site". See if that works for you.
You should be able to use the onboard Boox scanner app to scan and convert text, other than that there are Google Lens, Microsoft Lens, (I think it is that,) or the two PDF editors that I have featured UPDF and PDFelement from wondershare.

Hiya, yeah, this is one reason why I am so keen on the new supernote line of devices, there should be eventually an A4X2 which will have a user replacable battery.

I'm considering the Boox Note Air 2 plus, but is that my best option?
Wanting something 10.3"-ish that has onenote capabilities. I was considering the Boox tab ultra C but it's just not in the budget... I take tons of notes and make todo lists in onenote. I draw on pdf maps a lot. And I'd like the kindle capabilities but not a necessity. Would love the color of the tab ultra C since I draw on maps a lot, but I don't think it's a make or break given the price and my budget. I originally was looking at the remarkable 2, but I use onenote too much to not have that functionality.
Also considering waiting to hear what Boox announces today with the "colorful era" advertising..
Any thoughts are welcome!!
I think the note air 3 c is a really good deal actually. If that's in your price range. I buy with confidence. Hopefully, all the content around that device today will help you choose.

Hiya, here's my review of the doodroo for max lumi, it's going to be pretty similar fort the Tab X. Long story short, I had it on the luminfor ages and I liked it. But it eats through nibs much faster. I still have one on the iPad and like it.

@@KitBetts-Masters It is remarkable (no pun intended) how rapidly these companies are spewing out new models before the distributors can get the old ones in stock and sold. One can only hope that the new ones are software compatible with the old ones, so that the incomplete software can be updated as new models are brought out with new features that could run ok on the previous models. There is no joy in owning a 6 month old device whose software is no longer being updated.
@@eddiegardner8232 boox claims to commit to *at least* 3 years of software support for their devices. That said, there is no firmware upgrade to Android 12 yet....
This is exactly my dilemma and I'm really grateful for your input. I am an academic so supposedly in the target group of the X. My main computer is a 14 inch, and I use it 90% of the time for either reading PDFs or writing, and I don't care about color at all, in fact I find the bnw visually more appealing. So in principle it should be an easy choice for me, right? But I am not convinced that the larger screen (especially with a lower resolution) really justifies the steeper price given the older hardware and OS, and, ironically, this is particularly because where the company is heading with these devices as something much more than reading and (hand)writing.
As they state, they envision these devices as "tablet PCs". So their ambition is that this can even do more than your average tablet and rival your laptop or PC. And it seems to me that the Pro is the one that realistically lives up to that. Especially for purposes like mine, the Pro comes strikingly close to a full replacement - and in fact an upgrade - of my laptop, in addition to the obvious huge advantage of the screen. For example, you mention both the weight and the battery life as a downside; but where I'm coming from is that compared to my laptop computer the Pro (the X+accessories not so much tho) is unbeatably lighter and the battery is unbeatably longer (mine currently survives around 3 hours on a low brightness). You scoff at 3 days and to me this sounds like science fiction - again, for the purposes that it is advertised as being able to be used for. And the Pro's hardware specs like processor are in some ways better than my laptop, lol.
For that reason, I think the tech in the Pro has reached a stage where it is not fair to be compared to an e-reader. And that is exactly my issue with the X. If its only advantage is the screen size for better reading, but it has the ambition to replace my computer for 90% of my (individual, text-intensive and video-aversive) needs, for a computer it seems dated and its screen is lower resolution. If there is an upgrade to the X, I think this might be the answer, even though it will probably cost a kidney. But if it does what it's supposed to, it will still be cheaper than upgrading my actual laptop. But since it does not exist, I'm weighing more towards the Pro.
PS. Funnily enough, the only thing eink is inferior at is videos and images, i.e. social media, which are a blood-sucking distraction in my reading-writing based workflow anyway, so I'm really glad to be rid of the temptation. For productivity, if you are me and not a youtube creator or someone who works with images a lot in their work, this is really an upside, not a downside. It's a really interesting niche device.

What about writting samples. The main main reason for E- ink is writting. All surrounds it. All others I get from Ipad. Ioad is must .
The question is can I use Boox for writting instead of rewirtable 2.
Boox can never be Ipad. It took apple many many years to becone what they are so this competition is doomed. Not even starting .
Again is it precuse in writting and and do all the functions that supports writting ( shapes , straight lines , photos upload to a sheath , synch , mailing , sharing to a printer !!! ,micro SD card ..) work smoothly and with many options.
This shoukd be a writting and a reading tool and sharing tool.
It can't be a computer . For that we have Ipad ans Sumsung TAB and Lenovo Yoga.
Writting is a lot and if it is very very very good writting experience with having the ability to type than might buy one of this company devices. Might be Air 3 c.. since the camera on the c ultra as viewed totally sucks.
If tge writying ecperience is smooth and natural and a bit rounded as a natural hand writting then this might be very usable for studing and work instead of paper assuming the quality is transfered by printing onto paper.

For all writting apps in apple Ipad once you print a note to a paper the quality is so bad so what's the point of having nice writtings on a tan or an Ipad or a notebook yet on a print paper very bad results . So printing experience is also very important ; The ability to directly share a print from a note book and get excelent results on a print paper like you actuslly wrote itbon the print paper with no quality lose.

Who has incorporated the Tab Ultra C into his daily workflow has created a video for the Pros as well as the Cons, over all he appears to be very happy with the product but does bring up some good points that nobody seems to address such as security issues as well as _'palm rejection'_
I've thought about the Tab Ultra C quite allot, and you have pointed out very well how it excels as a note taker in a busy, maybe office or meeting environment but that doesn't suit me so well when it comes to building constructive notes on topics. I guess there is a difference between catching information in a meeting environment and building a extensive structure regarding a topic over years... and I'm sure the Tab Ultra can do this very well but I'm not so sure as well as the Supernote... at least in the way I build my structures.
Hiya, yeah, I don't regularly have issues with the palm rejection per se/, but it's in notetaking in the pdf reader where the issue lies, because by default it is a one touch page turn. Annoying, so if you change that to swipe only it never happens again.
Also, I agree with the structures you can build in your notes on supernote, that is the best for building out ToCs. It gives me an idea, Boox should separate out their notes app so that you can open the type of note taking that suits each project best. Like a file with not much apart from ToCs and notes, and a text note, and a drawing note, a maths note and a schematic note. How would that grab you?
@@KitBetts-Masters Having a note taking App/templates dedicated to a certain types of note taking would certainly help, but then someone is going to bemoan a functionality they want, and ask Boox to add it to that App. Currently... but then not having used a Boox device I may have misunderstood you.
I'm really missing a links feature in Supernote for eBooks and PDFs... but I believe it is in the pipeline.
Currently Boox is really striking out and paddling its own canoe and I wish them well, but its a risky business and for a better word... 'the bottleneck' is still the e-ink screen technology, in my opinion that technology it isn't quite there yet... but boox is making up for there shortcomings in some remarkable ways.

I don't have any plan to connect it to the internet. My idea is to go outside, and build a world I can tell stories in, or grow my middle earth/mad max/ww1/dune world lmao.
PS: Do you know if the portfolio could be worked on to hold a logitech MX keys mini keyboard, probably stitch some strap or something? Also does the Tab X have a microphone like the Tab Ultra C, so I could try using voice to write?

You are right about the launches though, and with Boox I would say it often makes sense to get in there as an early adopter of each new iteration of each device as they do move quickly through the releases!

I wouldn't say it feels like glass. Like, it is better than an iPad, but I agree it isn't as nice to write on as a paper feeling screen protector. You could always add a Doodroo protector though. Personally I prefer the screen clarity that you get with a non-textured screen protector though, and I'll take that overt the paper feeling I think. Personal preferences are important here I think.
Yeah, reMarkable is closer to paper feel, and at first I thought that was a big advantage. Then I started using an Onyx device for a while and quickly got used to taking notes with it - can't say I really miss the "paper feel" anymore. The important thing is that it feels good enough for me, and that there is basically no latency. I don't miss the reMarkable anymore (actually sold it).

Bought Tab Ultra C Pro . Nothing is Pro about this thing. Writing experience is VERY BAD. Noteshelf 3 on Ipad is years a head ; better response , much better letancy , much better accuracy , much much better app.
I use sensetivity on , 0.7 thicknes , fountain pen on the noteshelf 3 on my Ipad as a normal handwriting and the results are much more precise and easier to write and much better print results then the Boox.
You tube Vlogers don't tell you the all truth. The E ink devices sucks for writing.
I was a fool to buy it.
