    Yoko's had plenty of ugly moments but I don't think this is one of them? It's hard to tell if she's actually accusing Paul since she looks like she's about to cry and her body language is open towards Paul, and he looks like he's trying to reassure her while trying to keep himself composed as well. Sean looks happy to be there together. Paul and Yoko have had their problems but this looks like a genuine moment where they're bonding simply over their shared love for John.

    I was a student in Birmingham in 1980 and I walked into town on a cold rainy Tuesday morning on 9th of Dec and peered through my rain covered glasses, just making out four words on the news board by a paper seller ‘John Lennon Shot Dead’. I felt heartbroken. That evening every student on campus played John Lennon and the Beatles all night, their speakers and candles by their open windows. A haunting amazing cacophony of sound, every record playing at the same time. A poignant memory.

Cynthia said it was nowhere even near that but made it sound as if she didn't want to discuss it which gives me the impression Yoko made them sign gag orders in order for him to get the money... and when people signed those gag orders they can be sued for speaking the truth regretfully.

Paul and John were childhood friends. Really, Yoko? Were you every for anyone but yourself? Were you ever for Julian, his flesh and blood way before you were ever a thought in his life? Not a fan of yoko but john and paul were at odds for business reasons for years in the early seventies. John and george and ringo came around to pauls view about greedy allen klein too late to save the beatles as a group.

    • @curtb9567
      @curtb9567 Před 7 lety +11

      all that of course Maria, but it started with epsteins death and the loss of management. Apple almost ruined them financially. A manager before Klein and after epstein might have removed a lot of the tension caused by the business side. Paul took over some of the role, by managing their albums after sgt pepper getting them to make their final albums but at a cost to their friendship as John and george resented being told what to do. John's addictions to drugs and yoko became worse until he quit as you said.

    • @curtb9567
      @curtb9567 Před 7 lety +16

      It started as johns band but by making paul his songwriting partner and paul doing the same with john, they both became equal leaders of the band. as the eldest until ringo joined and the first of the final 4, john led but with the agreement by paul. If Paul did not agree or john disagreed, then they did something else. george also had a veto and ringo, but john and paul called the shots, until john became addicted and paul's leadership musically gave them direction from sgt pepper onward.

    • @curtb9567
      @curtb9567 Před 7 lety +10

      they all used drugs but only john was addicted. he eventually went 'cold turkey' as said in his 1st solo single. paul used less than the others. And they had an agreement for all 4 to agree or not do whatever. John left but the other 3 continued a bit longer polishing songs semi finished. It took action by paul to end the beatles legally so he could get rights and royalties to his new songs without splitting profits 4 ways. There are books about how they broke up if you want to know more. not everyone agrees entirely but the general course of the breakup is well reported.

    They were the perfect counterweight to each other. Very rare for close friends never to fall out.

      It's not a rational thing, just before a very emotional uptight award ceremoney, to suddenly ask someone if they had something against their old music partner. It seems like it was typical Yoko trying to darken the mood and shake Macca up like she used to do with John. Watch the video of John recording "How Do You Sleep?" and see her criticising John, whispering all bad things about the performance in his ear in front of everyone and pointing out nothing but negative stuff, then telling the (very top of their game) musicians what to do. Watch John change his mind to do exactly what she tells him coz he has to do everything to please her. It is fascinating.

      Paul criticized John and Yoko's political activism, but then John criticizes Paul's music ability repeatedly in 'How Do You Sleep', so what do you think is worse? Then Paul calls a truce in 'Dear Friend' in 1971! That's a spat at worse from Paul's end, not genuine hatred.
      And even if it was hatred, part of it would probably be justified! The band turns against Paul because he can see Allen Klein for the snake he was, and then John admits Paul was right with 'Steel and Glass' in 1974. Hell yeah I'd be pissed off too.

    Yoko came in at the tail end when lawsuits were rampant and phone calls between John & Paul were tense because of business affairs that they all couldn't agree upon. Yoko was there privately with John when he probably said some of the worst things about Paul. They also had their songs that went after each other and there is a clip of Yoko saying at the time that Paul started attacking John first and that's why John wrote 'How do you Sleep.' She wasn't there when they first met and became great friends so she's not fully appreciating their long relationship. But with that said I respect her fierce loyalty to John after all these years like when Paul tried to have the credits of some of the songs reversed from Lennon-McCartney to McCartney-Lennon. Seems like a small issue that she could've not fought him on but she felt that would diminish John if his name appeared behind Paul's.

BUT when some committee wanted to ADD HER NAME to Imagine she was all for it. YES, YES, YES ADD ME AS AN EQUAL TO JOHN'S MOST WELL-KNOWN SONG!!

    Paul didn’t look offended by what she said, I think it was an emotional moment for them all quite clearly. I think she’s just asked Paul “do you still have anything against him?”Just for some comforting reassurance, knowing quite well Paul doesn’t hold any grudges, I think it was definitely said in that context, and it was not meant to be offensive. Paul certainly doesn’t look offended, so he obviously new exactly where Yoko was coming from, and by the way to people who don’t like Yoko but like John, just remember that she was his wife and he would not thank you for being nasty towards her, in fact he would rather you didn’t follow him or his music.

    I'm sorry, but what rights did yoko have to act as though she knew exactly what John wanted and how he would think and feel, but at the same time think it was perfectly fine to treat John himself, his family and especially his son Julian like shit?
    Yoko hated Julian simply because he was John's son to another woman and she hated the fact that he was married to Cynthia (Even though she STALKED John when he was married to Cynthia and wouldn't stop bugging him. She purposely split them up for her own benefit of becoming rich and famous because of one of the most famous men in the world at that time.) like she treated Julian before and after John's death like a piece of shit and she hated John's family.
    Before he died she would hardly allow John to speak his family and whenever they and Julian used to try to phone John she'd pick up the phone and make up an excuse and pretend he couldn't answer. When he died she was willing not to let Julian, his own *son* come to his father's memorial simply because Julian was upset and wanted his mum there for support. When Cynthia spoke to yoko on the phone about it she literally said: "I'm sorry, Cynthia, but if you come, he doesn't come. It's not like you're an old school friend of mine is it?" So Julian had to go on his own even when he wanted the comfort and support of his mum.
    Cynthia knew John alot more than yoko I think. Yoko just didn't really care to find out about John or listen to his wishes in life e.g. Even though he ALWAYS told the people close to him that he never wanted to be cremated, what did yoko do? She cremated him to keep him all to herself when others were grieving him too. Also when she and John would go on talk shows for interviews she'd always interupt John and want to sit next to the interviewer and talk like SHE was the star, but on the Dick Cavett show once John spoke over yoko and she told him to stop. Who the hell does she think she is?
    Whereas Cynthia really cared about how he was and how he was feeling. If John was sad, then she was sad for him, if he felt pain, then she took on John's pain. She never wanted John to feel lonely or sad. All she wanted to do was care for him and love him. It's sad because towards the end of his life all he wanted was to be loved and wanted, he didn't realise that Cynthia was the one who cared.
    After his mother died, Cynthia was there to comfort him and be there for him whenever he needed her. He hated being without her and wanted to be with her basically 24/7 when they was a couple after his mother, Julia died. He would literally beg her never to leave him and when they were in public places he wouldn't let go of her hand even if she needed to get up to use the toilet. He would write in letters to her things like 'I love you please don't go away' and 'I love you so don't leave me and 'You are wonderful I adore you, I want you, I need you'.
    When he was performing in clubs she would travel 30 miles from her home *everynight* just support his performances and embrace him once he had finished. She was his rock, I don't think people realise just how important Cynthia was in his life.
    He truly did love her and said that himself in 1974 that he still did and they could've stayed married if things were different. He never stopped loving her, she was the love of his life, but once all the drugs and yoko wormed their way into their marriage he couldn't see that.
    It's like Yoko wasn't allowing Cynthia to grieve for John too even though she knew him much longer before yoko knew him and was there for him from his teenage years, onwards. She was married to him. Don't you think she had a right to grieve too? "The man I love the most died a tragic death."-Cynthia.
    Don't even get me started on how she treated his family. Yoko didn't even *tell* them he had died, so they had to find out like everyone else from the media. No family member should find out about a loved one like that. She didn't even tell him if John was being burried or cremated and never invited them to his memorial. She never gave them a chance to say their last goodbyes to John.
    I hate that yoko thinks that she's sooo important and that only she mattered in John's life. She pushed all of John's family out of his life, including Julian, so she could be seen as the only important person in John's life.
    Sean, her own *SON* said once that she only cares about herself and her artwork. NOBODY ELSE. She's just a narcissist.
    I seriously don't understand how people could actually like her and think she was the perfect match for John and that they had the perfect relationship when in the mid 70s-1980 there was certainly no love. All she wanted was John's money and her own fame. Look at her now, she owns EVERY penny John earned from all of his hard work. She owns his ENTIRE estate AND his royalties.
    Notice I'm saying 'his' alot because that's exactly what everything is: HIS AND NOT HERS. She shouldn't own any of it. What did yoko do to gain all of that fortune? Nothing.
    All she's doing is living off a dead man and she STILL tries to be relevant. She's just a leech and that's all she is. Oh look, he she is acting like she gave a damn about John, well if she did, how come she moved a man into the Dakota the *same night* John died called Sam Havadtoy and allowed him to sleep in the bed she and John once shared and began a 20 year relationship with him? It's funmy that she said once she never had another relationship after Johm died. Oh look, trying to sound innocent and sweet like always... Poor Sean, must've been confusing to the little boy to see another man in the house when his dad had died so soon. When John met her that was the beginning of the end of him. His biggest mistake was leaving Cynthia and Julian for yoko.

    Yoko really disliked Paul, at least at the time of this filming. Look at how she flinches when Paul finally removes his arm. John and Paul were so close, and so important to each other. The way John lashed out at Paul after the Beatles finally split up is a measure of how difficult it was for him to leave that relationship. Paul certainly did his best song writing when he had John in his life to challenge him and counteract his tendency to be superficial. Very interesting clip. Watch the nonverbals.

Yoko knew him from 1968 - 1973 then they split and then back together from 1975-1980. She had the left over Lennon filled with heroin and jealousy against Paul Let's face it, John's best work was with The Beatles and then his albums Imagine and Mind Games, the others are either 'best of' albums or cover versions albums - average at best and lazy - Thanks Yoko for sucking the inspiration out of him!!!!

    Who the hell is Yoko?? John's beloved wife that's who. Believe me, I'm no fan of Yoko, But if you cared anything about John Lennon as a person, than you have to respect the person he loved in his life, the closest thing to his heart. It was the kind of love Paul couldn't give. We might not like his choice, but it was his to make and he had no regrets.

      "you cared anything about John Lennon as a person, than you have to respect the person he loved in his life"
      - I did care about Lennon and, therefore, had a great respect toward the person he loved, that is, Cynthia Lennon. And that's why, when another lady, knowingly that Lennon was already married and had a son, started seducing Lennon, thus, breaking the family and leaving the young son without father, I felt a lot of pain. Later, when Lennon's drinking and drug problems were consequently increasing, the pain was only growing. And finally, when he was shot, I can tell now that I still have a great deal of respect toward belated Cynthia and have absolutely no respect toward Yoko Ono.
