      Victoria People can change over time, although I think in many ways Ringo was the most laid back of the Beatles, he also was the first to quit the group (in '68, during the recording of the White album). There are some things Paul doesn't mention to Stern, which I think he should have. Recently, a cassette tape has surfaced of a meeting which John, Paul and George had in early September, 1969, where the three talk about plans for the next Beatles album and the next single for tentatively December, 1969. John suggests that the Lennon/McCartney songwriting credit be stopped, that each song be credited to only the person who wrote it. Paul rejects this idea. John also suggests that from now on, each Beatles album should have four songs each by John, Paul and George, and two by Ringo (if he wants to). Paul rejects this. Paul and George then get into it when Paul claims that George's songs (prior to the Abbey Road album) haven't been as good as he and John's. Paul also rejected John's song Cold Turkey as a possible Beatles song. Maybe, just maybe, if Paul hadn't been so stubborn, maybe John wouldn't have decided (after coming back from Toronto) that he wanted out of the group. By the way, this September '69 recorded meeting was John's idea, since Ringo was in the hospital and John wanted Ringo to hear what the other three had talked about. This doesn't sound like someone who was only thinking of himself and his precious wife. My own feeling is that if they had a manager during their last couple of years together, especially if Epstein hadn't died, he may have been able to get John, Paul and George to reason with each other, but then, maybe not. I don't know how he would have reacted to Yoko's new role in John's life. Who knows.

Although he wasn't the nicest in the room he probably was the most honest. He was always real and for that he comes off as an asshole. There were no lines separating his life.maybe it was a bad thing but sure was instrumental in the way lennon's songs hit so close to home. Any way that's just how I feel about it. As Paul said: John needed powerful women and he fell in love with one. At the time, that close relationship between John and Yoko was odd for the other three. There was also the management issue that put Paul against the other three (Paul was right in the end...). The fact is that all of them needed a break. They were all recording their own material. Maybe Paul was the only one who at the time understood that The Beatles was their lucky break - and throwing that away for good would be wrong. All too complicated for the boys, but today it is so good to see Paul talking about these sad times with such generosity.

      Yes. Ringo got hurt at that time. He even mentioned it to the judge. It seems Paul still now doesn't know the truth. George and John didn't delegate Ringo to go there. Ringo offered himself to go because he thought it would have been rude to send via the post office and it was the intention. He said it would be much nicer. But Paul could not understand and acted just like he said. Unfortunately Linda applauded saying he didn't have to accept that crap. If I was his wife ( I wish...LOL) I would stick by his side, but then I would suggest him to ring Ringo to apologise, as Ringo was not guilty of anything. He only wanted to help.

Nice for him to meet someone who dared to be more than just another fan. (Even if most of us may not like her or most of her ideas about art and life. Still his choice to be with that specific person.) Cool of him to dare to be with someone where none of them are whipped, after all in the band being used to getting their own way with everything without compromises at all.

    I don't think young people today can ever really comprehend just how huge and influential the Beatles were back in the day. I was born a couple years after they broke up, and it took me until my teen years to really get it. Just about every single band that formed after them in the 60s and 70s were influenced by them in some way. In fact, there really wasn't such a thing as a band without a frontman before The Beatles. It was always "Buddy Holly and The Crickets" or whatever. Bands were just the backup to a lead guy here in America. Then The Beatles broke big here and that all changed.

    • @theothertonydutch
      @theothertonydutch Před 5 lety +2

      No,we don't. Biopics are pretty much always vapid, pandering and watered down versions of what are generally already well documented subjects. Make your own version of all the information that's out there, not some committee's idea (because that's what a biopic pretty much always is) of a thing or person. It's impossible to put those things in one place and especially when you're talking about something like the Beatles. A 'Beatles' biopic will pretty much be garbage because putting way over a decade into a compelling one and a half hour or so story is a ridiculous idea.
      Unless you do like a TV-series, maybe.

      And don't forget Ringo as well. He also did reconcile with John at the end before his death. They actually started to make plans to possibly make another album together, but that was squashed once John was killed. If he had survived, who knows. Maybe, more than likely, they would have played together. There was always chemistry between all of them, and, like all bands, including the Rolling Stones and even Led Zeppelin, they finally did get back together. This might have been the case as well with the Beatles. All that was left for the remaining three Beatles to do was to remix and publish the music that John had written and recorded, but was never recorded on an official album.
