- Tiny Tim performing his song "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" live, originally released in 1968 and from the album "God Bless Tiny Tim."
More from Tiny Tim: • Tiny Tim's Greatest Hits
In 1968, Tiny Tim, known for his high-pitched singing, released a popular song called "Tip Toe through the Tulips." With just his ukulele, Tiny Tim sang this tune, and it became a hit. He even appeared on famous TV shows like Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. The song itself, written by Al Dubin and Joe Burke way back in 1929, was a big success then too, staying at number one on the charts for ten weeks. It's about wanting to meet someone in a tulip garden for a romantic kiss under the moonlight. Although it's not clear if the songwriters or Tiny Tim knew the meaning behind the tulip, in Victorian times and in funerals, tulips were seen as a symbol of love and passion. Unlike roses, tulips don't have thorns, and even after they're cut, they still keep growing, which is why they're often linked with everlasting life.

Tiny Tim, the singer known for playing the ukulele and signing old songs from the 1920s, was born as Herbert Khaury on April 12, 1932, in New York City. His father was Lebanese, and his mother was Jewish. He gew up in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan. Even though he dropped out of high school, Tiny Tim loved old music from the late 1800s to the 1930s. and wanted to be a singer. He learned to play the guitar and ukulele and started performing as "Larry Love" in the early 1950s. He often sang at a cabaret in Greenwich Village called Page 3. Despite his parents' disapproval, Tiny Tim kept singing the old songs he loved at small clubs, parties, and talent shows under different names. Sadly, Tiny Tim passed away on November 30, 1996.

Funny. Everywhere I see of this song, I see the wrong artist credited. The original song was produced by Joe Burke and Al Dubin. The song was titled Tip Toe Through The Tulips with me and was produced in 1929 way before Tiny Tim did his version. For anyone who is curious.

You know.. His a legendary artist just like the others and he had perfect falsetto
Its sad the way he went, and people make it a “creepy sound” when its just plain sad..
We had such a a great and talented gift for too short a time!
To those who dont know the tragic incident:
The song wasnt meant to be scary, But tiny tim the one who was singing got a heart attack while performing on stage and almost died, Doctors told him his health was just too bad to perform again, But he didnt listen. He told his wife that he wasnt feeling good, And he went to a women club to perform i think in Minnesota, And this is the last song he played, After he singed it, He got a heart attack on stage and died😢 Rest in peace tiny tim.
You play any happy songs in a horror atmosphere, it will automatically elevate the horror level.
And this multiplies if the song is 60 or more years older than the current time. E.g. If Louis Armstrong starts singing Jeepers Creepers (1938), probably run.
Bioshock material
No it's just because he died on stage singing that song :(( he was a really cool dude and nice. But he died of a heart attack.
I listened this music first time in a horror movie xd
Yes for sure
Actually pretty impressive how he was able to manipulate his voice to perform that voice
VERY impressive, so impressive its scary!!
He was a hoot! Created a whole character including doty old lady mother.....we were a lot happier people back then. They named thier daughter tulip, but i don't know what she does now....cracked us up on laugh in

@@yolololo5501 same i even vibe to it
it’s creepy cause he died while singing it
@@Mia-hu3cu that’s not too creepy imo, the fact that he died singing it was just a pure coincidence and he died of a natural cause. The lyrics are quite wholesome/romantic as the commenter said
I feel like that’s what makes it super scary in context. Because it’s honestly a happy song but when it’s playing during an eerie moment it makes it super uncomfortable.

R.I.P a man who tried to make his fans happy and risked his life for other people 🥺
Rip to a man who said
“Now the makeup and the white powder also came between '52 and '54. The reason for that was I had always looked at beautiful women, and I'm not saying 18. I'm saying 14, 15, 16, 17; that's when a beautiful girl can be so innocent and wonderful in her youth. But I had pure thoughts, I wouldn't dare bring up fornicating, but I thought if I married one like that, they would be an eternal princess forever and I would get to heaven. I looked for these women, and I still do today.
"If I went out with a 14-year-old girl, I would definitely ask her parents' permission and bring her back the same way she left. I just want to take a look at that beauty, just like a vampire who wants to suck in the blood, but doesn't want to kill the victim."

You can hear people in the audience laughing, but Tim never let that stop him from doing what made him unique.
He was a comedian this was an act to mock singers in the 1920s
They were supposed to laugh
He had a heart attack on live tv that made me scared of this song
As a performer myself, we enjoy reactions from the audience, most of the time it is seen as rude, but really we love it when the audience laughs, cries, and sings with us

It wasn't an audition and he didn't die in front of anyone but the hospital staff that was attending to him. And it wasn't just any performance, if I'm not mistaken, it was this one in the video. Again, if I'm remembering right, he was having chest pains, went to the hospital, turned out he was suffering a heart attack. Died no more than 5 hours after the performance.
@@joshuagaither4866 he's way too young here for this to be that performance. This looks more like when he was first getting recognition back in the 60s.
This is a perfect example of a person taking a huge risk and just being himself... no matter what.
