2:43 - That is the Isle of Wight Central Railway livery. Some of the Terriers ended up running on the Isle of Wight, but had been replaced by LSWR Adams O2 tanks prior to 1948. Interestingly two Terriers are preserved on the IOW Steam Railway - W8 'Freshwater' and W11 'Newport'. Under the LBSCR these engines were originally numbered as 46 'Newington' and 40 'Brighton' respectively.

    • @DC4260Productions
      @DC4260Productions Před 5 lety

I like how you started away from Havant, as that used to be the junction for the Hayling Island line. A number of Terriers ended up working on that line, as they were the largest engines allowed on the branch. This was due to severe weight restrictions on the bridge across Langstone Harbour. The branch closed in 1963, after around 96 years of operation. I believe the now preserved Stepney and Whitechapel worked on that line. Stepney's BR number was 32655, while Whitechapel's was 32650. To say the Terriers have a very complex history would be putting it mildly. I believe someone has actually made the Hayling Island route for Train Simulator, and I think it's available as a freeware route from a website called Wotawally's Bits. If you download that route, you would need to get the BR Black Terriers (part of Steam Sounds Supreme's Later Years pack) to run on that line.

Another recommendation I would like to make is that you try the Corris Railway route, as well as the CR expansion pack. The latter has a tiny yellow battery electric engine (call Corris No. 9), which is so small that it's dwarfed by just about every wagon.

Nice Terrier 0-6-0T in your Train Simulator 2019 video. I added the Terrier on my Top 10 favorite tank engines I looked at on your channel. It is pretty shocking that a healthy 10 have been preserved while the rest were scrapped. That is a pretty surprising for 10 old locomotives to be preserved from the 1800s.

I had to go buy this after watching this video! I don't buy a lot of stuff in TS,glad i grabbed these though! They are great little steamers, nicely modeled, not that ive ever seen one irl being Aussie! Ive been testing their capacity and they are incredibly capable, the "long" train that comes with them is not even close to its limit, i think i pretty well doubled it and with manual firing and correct preparation she will take it up any grade! Out on the blocks and through the roof with the gun on and the safety howling :) :) :)

if you wanna save steam, don't put too much regulator at high speed, you only need a lot of steam when you start, once you're moving, keep the regulator around 30% (my uncle was a steam driver so he told me that), also when you want to slow down, put the reverser in about 10% reverse, that will make the steam strokes work against the pistons' movement, slowing the train down (that's how to dynamic brake a steam loco)

W for forward, S for reverse, A to increase the throttle, D for decreasing the throttle, SPACE bar for whistle, I and O for the driver and fireman injection valves, J and K for the the water injectors, H for the headlights or marker lights, B for the bell, or for simply and advance mode for the locomotive, and finally : for decreasing the brakes, and ; for increasing the brakes. I hope this helps you Sam, oh and F for opening the firebox doors, and R to add coal to the fire, Shift + F to close the firebox doors, and Shift + R to stop adding coal to the fire. M to open the Dampers, Shift + M to close them, N for the blower, Shift + N to close the blower. I said, I hope this helps you control the steam trains in train simulator 2019

Looks lovely. I think I might just have to put the Terrier (A1, not those nasty A1X’s!) as my favourite locomotives, alongside the Brighton J class tank. My friend at my ME club I attend has a 5 inch gauge on in the works, can’t wait to see it on the track!
Also, I believe the condenser was a system designed to put the exhaust steam back into the side tanks, to save water. It worked, but of course sacrificed the exhaust blast to draw the fire, so if you wanted to use it you sometimes needed a little bit of blower at the same time.

I think that livery on that terrier might be either Fragonest Black or L.M.S Black, I looked on the Hornby guide website and the image for the two contain black red and yellow, so it's one of those two.
Also, how many trains are named after animals, the terriers, so there's dogs, A4's, some are named after birds, apparently some loco's are named after Antelopes, and some are named after fish, so that's 4 so far.
Edit: Wait, I think the livery is L.Y&R Black.

I got a terrier to about 80mph going down the meardy branch route, but it is a very steep route.
also, when I got the terriers, I didn't know how to change the liveries, but the improved engine green terrier isn't under that select for some reason. when you go into the consist editor, the different liveries are counted as different locos.
and the livery you where driving, I think, was the isle of whyte livery.

I need to get round to playing Train Simulator again, also Sam if you've got the right DLCs you should check out the user made map on the Steam Workshop: Hampshire Lines
Is a bit lacking in details in some areas (though it is steam era and there wasn't as much around then as there is now) but does show off what railways we had around here before most of it got axed.

I was going to say you were as crazy as Oliver, yet you're usually more sensible with Train Simulator games than he is. Pity your game crashed on you twice, but I feel a Train Simulator Story coming on.
Oliver was racing two GWR Train Simulator Steam Engines against each other. One was City of Truro hauling four Chocolate & Cream carriages, the other was a cute little Pannier Tank Engine running light. City of Truro and her coaches disappeared.
"That's funny," Oliver observed to no-one in particular, "City of Truro's disappeared off the screen. Where did she go?" Can you guess where City of Truro and her coaches had gone? You got it in one. Sam saw the steamy and coaches speeding on his own computer screen. He was sensibly controlling an innocent little Terrier Tank Engine, and had to make her run backwards. Luckily, all the Terrier had behind her was a tatty old Guard's Van. So she made easy meat of moving away quickly. City of Truro was catching up rapidly. The gap between the two engines got smaller and smaller every minute.
"AAH!" screamed Sam, desperately looking for an escape route. He spotted an empty siding, attempted to change the points and only succeeded in derailing the Guard's Van. SMASH! City of Truro collided with the Terrier Tank Engine head on. A loud explosion erupted. Poor Sam, scared to death, tumbled out of his chair. The system crashed and magically shut down. Timidly, Sam got up off the floor. His face was white as a sheet. He sat on his chair and managed to get the system running once more. The station throat scene showed itself. Twisted and broken pieces of metal lay everywhere, causing the station to close down altogether. Sam shut down the game and emailed Oliver. Oliver was sorry about the collision he'd caused and said so in reply.
Sam shut everything down in the correct order. The collision had scared the daylights out of him. He sat back, thinking of how careless Oliver could be with Train Simulator races. Sam decided to try playing with trains the model railway way. It helped a lot, yet he hadn't quite forgiven Oliver for the switch-screen collision.
Oliver was sitting where he was more shamefaced than he'd ever been before. He knew the collision was his fault, due to his own carelessness. His Mother took the game from him. He was very miserable. He wondered if he would ever be able to play the game again, but I think he deserved his punishment. Don't you?
