I was there! This was the encore, how can you do this after over two hours on stage?
I was just turned 18 and thought this sort of thing was normal!
Everyone was outstanding, but for me Alan Clark on the keyboards and especially Terry Williams on the drums, were the standouts.
I know now, nearly 40 years later, that its not normal, its outstanding and I was privileged to be there.
We are all lucky, because it was properly recorded with the best technology of the day and we can all see it now.
Thankyou so much for reacting to this masterpiece, even if it does make me feel old!

For me the best live band ever, I only saw them the once but easily the best show I’ve ever seen. Glad you enjoyed it this is dire straits at their best.

My favorite Dire Straits song, simply put a masterpiece.
This is the history of the road (Highway 24 that runs through Detroit) from the early years, through the depression, the growth, WW2 and then after the boom the decline. Dire Straits sold over 130 million albums and since they stopped Mark Knopfler has made 9 solo albums plus a lot of film music.
An absolutely incredible musical composition, played by sublimely talented musicians with the unmistakable sound of Mark Knopfler. Just amazing
