@RichMidasPapa China will never face the risk of being isolated commercially at this point. Its economy depends entirely on imported raw materials. A war would be the end of it for China. Everything it managed to achieve is going to be lost.

Philippines claiming a disputed island with a rusty ship is hardly any international order.
It was a response done out of necessity. The Chinese were trying to grab the area and build an artificial island there.
