This is great! I've wrestled with wanting to reupholster an old chair for years, and your video just gave me the confidence to tackle the job. Thank you for sharing!
I am re doing this very chair, I picked up. I just took it apart. I was struggling with how I was going to do the top part. This was the guidance I needed. Loved what you did!
I love how you did this video. Right to the point. Easy to follow and see each detail on the process. Thank you so much!! Very informative and helpful!
Ditto! Not 15 min of talking about how you were walking down the street one day and saw a blue flower and that made you think of blue skies which made you think of clouds which made you call your aunt Bee and she mentioned she had some furniture she was putting on the curb and so you wanted to reupholster a chair. This one got right to the point!
@@catherinekoutroumpis9774 love this comment!!! AND AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH! hahaha
My son in law had this exact same chair sitting in his garage and ask me if I wanted it he was fixing to put in trash. I can't believe I found this video of the same chair . Will make it so much easier to redo it. I will probably watch over and over.
Thanks you made it look easy.
I have 4 of the do you know how much they are?
Me too! I was so excited when I saw the chair and video! Good luck!
Am I the only one totally disconcerted that no thought was given to centering the fabric and having the seat line up with the back?
And also that they put the old dirty foam back in, instead of cutting a new piece?!?
I had wondered about lining up and centering the design on the chair. I would’ve done it. Also, why didn’t the white fabric get ironed for the bottom of the chair? Just an old seamstress with ingrained processes.
Omg and the seat is off balance! This is how NOT to upholster a chair
They did not show that the sewed down the edge on the top piece. And yes not lining up the fabrics is very amateur.
To be fair, it isn't titled How To Upholster A Chair WELL" :-D
You did an amazing job and this was very helpful 💗
Thanks for your video, I purchased 2 beautiful chairs from Goodwill for $25 each. Went to price how much to have them reupholstered. It's close to $700 so decided to try to do it myself. Hope my chairs come out as beautiful as yours. Again, thanks for sharing your video. Blessings.
Thank you for this video!! Best upholstery one on CZcams
Wow! Fantastic job!
Thanks a lot for this tutorial, I must have the tools first to finish a good clean product 👌👍👏
beautifully done, thank you for sharing!!
Just the guidance i needed! Beautiful
Great job! Thank you for the tutorial.
Very clever lady, thank you!
Gorgeous!
Just gorgeous!!!
super helpful! Thank you!
This was very helpful. I'm redoing the exact same style of chair except mine has a removable seat cushion. Now I need help with how to sew the cord trim around those nooks and crannies where the arms are.
My issue is that my dining chair set from offer up that I am refinishing had a solid board screwed on at some point... so I want to replace the solid board with cane webbing as it’s much more comfortable but at the same time stapling the fabric directly to the frame seems a bit beyond my skill level, however I am going to give it a try. I suppose I could also just saw out the middle of the wooden seat board then web it and upholster it and then put it back... The other thing I really want to get is that look of sort of a domed seat cushion not just a flat square but unsure the best combination of foam to achieve that.
Great job! Chair wood would have looked good white also
Great job in showing how simple this process is. Could you also please list the tools used to complete this project? Thanks.
You make it look sooooo easy! Let’s hope I can do to. 😝
love this material. Where did you purchase it from?
Steam the chair back cushion to freshen it. Chose a fabric without such an obvious pattern or buy enough fabric to match the chair back, front, and bottom.
The chair looks pretty good, but next time you should center the pattern and match it so it is continuous from top to bottom.
Thats what I thought!
They probably didn't want to spend more on the fabric.
Nice!
excellent
Handy woman!
A good example of not matching fabric properly on reupholstery
My thoughts exactly
This is a good one🎂
I will do this on my next restoration❤
Thanks for sharing this. Why did you use different types of webbing? Was there any reason or just because that's what you had?
Only thing is the webbing and is it cardboard strips? It does t say what it is and where do you get the cardboard looking stuff amazon too? This is why I prefer verbiage as you go along and do you use a spray to hold foam on fabric and webbing or just hope it stays up and if not can I use it ? It looks simple but I need to hear you to explain would be better
This is a great job. But would it be possible to view a closeup of the top edge of the trim on the chair? If you use the staple gun, don’t the staples show or are clear staples? Since the camera is so far away, you can’t see this detail.
Squish the 2 rubber tubings together over the staple after stapling, you can see them do it in the video
Was two tubes used on the top trim and only one on bottom?
@@Hilcv Yes
The older fabric looked much more attractive, just looks like a normal chair now
What type of material is what you put on before the cushion? It looks like bands?
Good step by step but don't you worry about pattern repeat or matching?
You can also take a pea of wood glue on ur finger tip, and very carefully smooth it over the old staple holes!
Hi! So I couldn’t tell if tacks, brads or staples were loaded into that nail gun, great video but definitely could have used some follow along commentary. Thank you!
Is there any better way to do backrest... So that staple/pins don't stick out
How much fabric did you use for this chair?
What are the strips called?
Very nice! What did you use to cut the cushion?
We used a large pair of scissors and everyday kitchen knife. There are specialized tools you could find to cut the cushions but we did not use any of those tools.
Thank you!!
👍
How much fabric did u use? Beautiful
We used 4 feet of fabric.
@@hongyuyang thanks, I need to reupholster my chairs as well... I think I’m going to need 5 my chairs are bigger
Can you tell us how many yards of fabric the chair used? Thank you.
Donde de encuentran sitio especialistas de reparar sillas Victorianas aquí en PR
Some parts are narrow from phone camera which could’ve been held wide wise to film so one can see better. All in all I’d feel comfortable in doing this from the video thank you 👍
How many yards of fabric did you use?
We used 4 feet of fabric
The pattern isn’t lined up.
You didn't center the fabric pattern on the chair?? why?
Chipped the wood. Taking out the staples.
Where did you purchase this fabric ?
You can find the fabric at your local fabric store.
Great video but instead of the music, which is not easy to listen to for that whole time, I would have liked to just hear you comment once in a while about what you are doing.
did you notice your fabric pattern is crooked and off-balance?
What are the green strips?
They are bulk wrappings. You can find them at Home Depot, Lowes, or any major retailer.
What are the green straps?
They are bulk wrappings. You can find them at Home Depot, Lowes, or any major retailer.
@@hongyuyang like webbing straps ?
Am I the only one totally disconcerted that the back cushion just float, without moving while she stapled it? the pattern is croocket
Where can I buy the foam?
At most any fabric store.
Would be better if the person spoke as they went along and explained each step
Dommage de ne pas avoir centré les motifs, le tissu est plus tendu d'un côté et en traditionnel c'est bien plus beau mais beaucoup plus difficile à faire ;-)
Better to do the back of the seat horizontally
椅子背上的钉子不会露出来么
不会露出,钉子有很多种长度规格的卖,挑选适合的。
a valiant effort... but no effort was made to center or match the pattern....
Very disappointing, no words or instruction. Just music? For example, what are the green strips called? The black strips? The gray strips? How can we purchase materials, if we don't know what they are called?
For anyone watching, this is a quick and dirty way of reupholstering a chair. They cut a lot of corners, figuratively speaking. I wouldn't use this an instruction.
Didn't line up design. Didn't feel project was thought out as should have been.
To bad your pattern is way off on back of chair ☺️
You needed a long nose gun to make it easier on you.
Why no text during the middle of video? Not very helpful
A lady wanted to charge me $200 per chair to do this..wow...
DO NOT DO THIS!! Move on to another video! This is not the way to upholster ANYTHING. She didn't put the fabric on grain, if you notice, it's crooked. Never, ever apply webbing over fabric, webbing goes on first and needs to be stretched (taut) which is done with a special tool called a stretcher, (see video on YT).
We do not need to watch all the cleaning
Que feo tapiz escogiste.
Such a brutal way of doing it! You didn't even bother to use the fabric pattern and fit it symmetrical! Really amateur job. Do something else instead.
What is with all the crappy......uck
Ewwww
What a horrible way to do this
Cette méthode est à déconseiller 👎👎😡😡
