How to join any Minecraft: BE server IP/address on Nintendo Switch (BedrockConnect)

On Minecraft Bedrock Edition, players on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch are limited to playing on 'Featured Servers' approved by Mojang/Microsoft. These players are not able to join servers via an IP/address. This is an issue for me and others, as the server community on Java edition was one of the major parts that made Minecraft what it was, and what also made what the servers that are now considered 'Mojang Server Partners' what they are today. I wanted to fix this, so I made a service/solution called 'BedrockConnect' that will make it so anyone can join any server easily.

Also, the number you enter in the Primary DNS has to be EXACTLY 104.238.130.180. You enter the server IP in the serverlist later at 1:30.

You just made my month. I had gotten my 9 year old a hosted server so he could hang with his friends due to current events. Picked the game up for the switch just to find I couldn't join the server. This procedure came to the rescue. THANK YOU!!!

Except it’s not Microsoft limiting servers; it’s the respective console companies restricting it. i.e. Nintendo doesn’t allow it on Switch, and Sony doesn’t allow it on PlayStation.

@Nani Alfaruti working perfectly fine for me on nintendo switch as well as on xbox one. for the ps4 i need to use a alternative. i like phantom most since i dont know a better alternative. make sure for bedrockconnect that you typed in the correct dns address also reconnect to your wifi and restart your console. also you need to have bought nintendo switch online or xbox live gold in each case

Hey did you have any issue with entering the ip address? Keeps giving us an error saying its not a valid ip.
I'm disgusted by the fact this version of the game won't allow you to play on anything but pay to win servers when pay to win is literally against Mojang's terms of service. Apparently, they don't even care about their own rules and just want to extort money from children.

I tried this and all I swear it’s put in right but it’s not working when I open mc like I open a server to open the server list and it just takes me to the server I clicked on instead of the server list

I'm running a PE server with a few friends that have joined on their switch and Xbox respectively, and this works fantastically for them. I thank you for setting up this DNS server and the time it you spend on the project.
I'm in a bit of a pickle as one of my closest friends just purchased a switch and we can't seem to get their switch to prompt the "Join to open Server List".
We've tried:
a previous switch they had worked on their same network (they bought a switch instead of lite)
Verifying DNS information 100%,
reset network settings,
restart console,
relaunch minecraft
wait a few hours,
redownload minecraft,
redo network settings through DNS,
verified that another switch works at the same time we're trying to connect (mine connects theirs doesn't),
tried a different secondary DNS (1 dot)
tried deleting the wifi from the switch and redoing the setup process,
Everything we've done still results in them displaying the normal Hive and other featured servers fancy colored texts and the not the "Join to open Server List".
What am I missing? My methodical brain is going crazy to figure out why this isn't working.

Although the process to join a server indeed takes a little longer than usual, it still works and Pugmatt is awesome. Thanks!
Hi, it was working great then all of sudden whenever I click on the server it says “unable to connect to world”. I’ve tried restarting the console and my friend reset the server as well but still can’t get in. I was wondering if it was just me or something has happened. Thanks!
Edit) it works again now that I deleted the game and reinstalled it! For anyone who’s had the same problem, try deleting it and reinstall it

Works Awesome with the DNS Entries in my PiHole :) - Just FYI for everyone even though im 99% sure Pugmatt isnt doing this, it is perfectly possible for whoever controls the DNS Server you are using to re-direct Legitimate Websites to their own clones (say for example Facebook redirected to a clone facebook to steal your details, as I saw im sure Pugmatt is NOT doing this, but I thought I would Highlight what Risks come with using random DNS Servers
These are valid concerns when it comes to DNS servers. Worst comes to worst, if someone isn't comfortable using my public DNS you can also setup your own using the local method which I have a tutorial for on my channel, or host one through Linux which I have a tutorial for on my github page in the description.

Please note: This service DOES NOT work with Java edition servers. It is only for joining Bedrock servers. Servers like Hypixel are unfortunately not Bedrock compatible. If you want a server like Hypixel for Bedrock edition, try Hyperlands: play.hyperlandsmc.net

After restarting Minecraft and going to the server screen, the servers all appear the exact same way they did before. The subtitles are all still the colorful flashy ones they're supposed to show, and joining them just takes be to the server as usual.

This seems to have broken with the 1.18.10 version of Minecraft for Switch, is anyone else having an issue now where on selecting the Server you want, 'Generating Worlds - Loading Resources' appears and then a quick flash of 'Done!' appears and it drops back to the featured servers list without going onto the destination server you wanted please?

I have the same problem
1.18.10 introduced a bug that broke transfer packets on the Switch, which is essentially what BedrockConnect uses to direct the user to another server. We are currently looking into it further, but unfortunetly will most likely need to wait for a fix from Mojang since it's a bug with the game itself. Considering this bug has broken some functionality on the official featured servers as well, not just BedrockConnect, they'll most likely get a fix out soon I'd assume. Mojang released an update today that should have now fixed it. Update your Minecraft to the latest version, 1.18.11, and it should work again.

This used to work all the time but for some reason after 1.16.200 when trying to join a server to get to the server list menu it says outdated server. (this is before I even try to join the main one I wanted to join just when trying to open up the list). By the way thanks for the efforts as I've had many fun times being able to join custom servers.

Minecraft on the switch can be buggy. You might have to restart Minecraft a few times and relogin.

I have done everything and I still can not connect to servers, it just says that I need to be login to both accounts, which I am, so i don’t know what to do. I’ve turn off my IPv6, changed the DNS code, restarted my switch, and made sure that I’m signed into both and it’s still not working

What happens when you change the dns
The dns only converts the name typed into an ip address (e.g. stuff.com ==> 192.168.1.254) this program redirects the 5 custom ones into a server that can redirect you into other servers...
