Derren Brown is a British mentalist, illusionist and author. Since his television debut with Derren Brown: Mind Control in 2000 he’s produced multiple series and specials, winning two Laurence Olivier Awards. Derren doesn’t claim to possess any supernatural powers and his acts are often designed to expose the methods of those who do. He often claims his impossible effects are merely achieved through "magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection, and showmanship".

Out of everyone ever born, Derren would be my choice to be stuck on a desert island with.
Also I love how he manages to casually mention some absolute smut that has me doubled over laughing, when no one in the theatre even hears it.
Example: I can’t remember what show it was where someone had to throw water in his face, cue: “I’m not usually standing up for this” which even as I’m typing it has me howling again 😂

let Derren tell you how your belief system is all wrong lol. Freudian psycholoanalysis is criticised for it's lack of falsifiability and Derren is much the same. I studied psychology - where Derrent veers off the conventional and obvious he heads to misdirection and showmanship. he has always maintained that his shows contain misdirection, i.e. tricks, but i think people enjoyed his magic more because it touches on real psychology and that is exacly why we have this trust issue - that fine line between real and false IS the entertainment, actually lol. but i think the people are actors a lot of the time, like ive never seen a skater hang out with somebody who owns a Louis Vuitton handbag lol not real skaters
