Ingredients:
Katla Fish - 500 gm (you may use any fish)
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder -1/2 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 2.5 tbsp
Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
Coriander seeds -1/2 tsp
Black Pepper - 8 to10
Green Chillies - 2
Garlic - 18 to 20 cloves
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Kashmiri Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Tomatoes - 2
Mustard Oil - 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves - 1/4 cup

Put one pinch of salt in the oil before putting fishes for frying, doesn't matter fish is fresh or not it'll not stick to the pan. My mother's age old trick.

Katla fish is very tasty. This is a typical way bengali people cook.
Actually its not da typical bengali style cooking of katla fish curry.... Sarso, garlic....these are not used in katla fish curry... In bengali cooking, onions are used, tomato is optional and not so much use of red mirchi.... But yes in wedding ceremonies and other occasions red mirchi is used.... Not usually in home style cooking.... And what is must in bengali fish curry, be it katla or any fish and any preparation, to balance the taste sugar is definitely used.... Am sure this different way of cooking katla fish will also taste great....

@@sangritamazumder1675 no sugar is not must in bengali fish curry. Different people may have different style of cooking but sugar is not mandatory. And sarso is also used in katla fish called sarse mach but not garlic off course. And that bengali style of sarse mach is much more different from this recipe... But this bihari style katla fish looks really tempting.. will definitely try

Khatta, teekha flavour is not bengali style of cooking fish curry..........and I said in home style bengali cooking, usually katla fish curry is not made with sarso........ I ve very much appreciated the recipe of kabita Di... When someone commented that this is typical bengali style cooking.., then I said no........... It is true that every1 has different styles of cooking, when did I deny that?
@@sangritamazumder1675 yes you are absolutely right kabita ji also told that this is bihari style fish curry. But sugar is not used in home style bengali fish curry or macher jhol. Yes in katla kalia type s dishes little pinch of sugar is used for balancing the taste but not used in our every day runny fish curry. Sarse katla is not common I know but in my home my mom used to make this since my childhood. Its just the preparation like sarse illis.😊

I tried this method. It was really awesome. What all I changed is i Grinded one medium size Onion also with Garlic which resulted good.

Being a Bihari we always prepare fish curry in this way only !! You can use green coriander as well during the preparation of it's Masada, it really enhances the taste !!🥰❤
