Antique Cleaver Restoration

- My friend found this old cleaver in the attic and told me to restore it for him because it belonged to his great-grandfather. from what I noticed the cleaver is over 120 years old due to the holes made with a mandrel and the bracelet are forged. I couldn't save the handle because it was to much bended from the years past that past over him and it was to much damaged and decided to make the original form straight and ergonomic. I welded the old holes from the blade because one of them it was broke and I left the blade to look more like the original way(not to shiny)and with the old marks on it.
I hope you enjoyed my video and leave a comment and subscribe
That is one MEAN looking cleaver!! Definitely one of my favorites!
Thanks,I appreciate 🍺🍺🍺
That looks like a cleaver Jason Voorhees would use.
Man watching these videos is so relaxing!!!!
Regardless of result you provided fresh life to something otherwise forgotten
awesome restoration…. great job…🔨🔩🛠️⚒️🔧👏👍🍻🍻
Very nice. Amazing. Vintage look.
That's a very challenging project! Good job😊
I think the handle was made of a natural curved branch.
I agree
Top 10 demais........🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
Must accept the wisdom of the old people who can create for us and let us continue.
the axe before the restoration was more interesting. The bend of the handle, the half-rotted ropes, the rotten handle - were something brutally fabulous. And the RESTORER licked everything and stuck a stick.
Wow good👍
Book.... Great job
Parabéns ótimo like garantido pra vc amigo fica com Deus 👏👏.
That looks fantastic, I hope I can do half as good a job.
Restaurateur is ok but chef or my god🙈 Very Good jjjjj🙏😅🤣👍👍👍👍👍
Beautiful results though.
Very well done job, congratulations friend.
🍺🍺
🍺🍺
I feel like he could've done a lot more with grinding the rust pits out of the axe blade and polishing it up better, but it still looked great in the end. Great job.
I think I saw an Orc wielding that thing in LOTR.
Excellent!!!
C O O L !!
🍺🍺
It reminds me of an Ulu. Maybe make a concave bowl on a cutting board to see how well it roll/chops within a hollow, like an ulu.
Sweet 👍🏻 👍🏻
Friend, a decent job a storm of liked. Congratulations and always continue like this. a brazilian hug
🍺🍺
Perfect work and I think the handle was bent in original shape, anyhow the new handle looks pretty good.
I don't thihk this nice tool was made, at his origine, for cutting carrots and apples, in the kitchen. But you done a good job.
Cool video, thanks for sharing
Thanks🍺🍺
Very Nice
Now that is an antique!
It's not antique anymore it's a whole new object

Very interesting looking cleaver, is it from back home? Oh, and I think the original handle was bent upwards on purpose, I've seen similar handles on rustic cleavers.
Thanks, yes is it from home.I returning a year ago for good.
I've seen something similar being used to chop straw for bricks.
Yeah I think he messed the handle up don’t even look original
Well Done Good Sir.
👍😎👍😎👍😎👍

Looks 👍
Wow pretty cool bro 😀👍
Nice job :)
Beautiful restoration good job well done mister
Looks a lot older than one century, more like bronze or early iron age.
😊
Great work stunning restoration beautiful and what ever language you decide to reply in is up to you and people should make comments Great to see so many comments in other languages Great 👍
Thanks 🍺🍺
Did you not want to get some more of the pits out?
No ,because i don't want to be like mirror glass,if I remove the pits is like I removed the years that have passed over him.thank you for watching
Nice job but I would have stuck with the curved handle..
that.s axe !
with respect mate , the Handel was made bent. it stops you hitting your hand on the butchers block.
Thanks mate🍺🍺
@@AlexBRestoration sorry I forgot to say it is still a very good job :) Well done Sir !
THAT OL PUP IS OVER 200 YRS OLD NOW IT LL GO ANOTHER 200 IF KEPT LOVE THEM HAD MADE BOLT FASENERS
No hrůza a tragédie.
Wednesday Addams would approve.
⚔️
She's gonna get you for messing up her coloring book! Lolol😂🤣
😅😅🍺🍺
I am certain the original handle was bent. this does not look right.
16:52 mouth full of water. can you make delisus recipe and that's my name
Bel lavoro! Forse era meglio sagomare un po' il legno come in origine! Comunque va' bene lo stesso!
Great video, but I have a comment and a question.
My comment is this: At 1:40 in the video, it appears as if you are holding the adjustable wrench backwards on the nut.
Holding it that way puts all the torque on the moveable part of the wrench, and would be the cause if the wrench were to fail.
czcams.com/video/r1yGfwyFsh4/video.html
My question is: After welding the holes closed, why wouldn't you close off the secondary holes, and make the mounting holes back in the original location?
I watched the video and thank you for advice.I honestly I didn't know how to use it properly, thank you for watching
🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩
Yeah don't like the handle but besides that It looks great!! Handle would have looked better if you just got a big stick from the yard and shaped it. For a more rustic look to it.. I also subscribed to your channel
Enjoyed the video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you🍺🍺
@@AlexBRestoration You're welcome!!
Why does it look so cursed
Well it's obvious that it's not the same 100 years old cleaver it used to be, the history of it have been erase 😕
- Ahh... fresh meat... 😈
i think the actual handle was bent for a reason..and a bent restored handle would have been 100%. and the blade could have been sharper..i can cut carrots with a hammer also..😉
Thank you for comment, after I posted the video me too I believe the handle was bent it.🤣🤣 thank you for watching my video.
O cabo original não era assim
Oh no no no.
THAT IS NOT GEORGE THATS ROBERT THE RABBIT
🤣🤣
Did Darksouls ask you to restore this?
No,🤣🤣🤣
ha ha your wife is interested?👍
Noo🍺🍺
That's not a restoration. Restoration it's when you carefully preserve the original, you on the other hand desided to dump the original handle. With that logic you might as well replace the blade, it's old and rotten anyway.
Hey buddy, You always do a great job on restoring things. But on this 100 year old meat cleaver. You destroyed it by cutting the handle! now its not an Antique!! and its not worth $1.00 now!!
Thank you for comment.I wanted to save the handles but it was to damaged to restore it.
Bro, were you making a salad?
What an utter waste of history. This should have been restored as a historic artefact.
Museum administrator here: That cleaver is never going to go on display and he's still using it for its primary purpose. He can do whatever he wants with it.
@@Heymrk The original cleaver had a bent handle for its original purpose. Millions of CZcamsrs are free to do whatever they want and there isn't a thing I can do about it.
It's supposed to be bent. Just because it's a rusted peice of crap doesn't make it antique
Very sad actual was wood which was completely destroyed
If Chinese was oppionted than they use comical for this...
Why don't you just throw it away its rotten to the core really!!!!
