Its sadly ironic that all his pain and suffering bring him power in the dark side which pushes him into his dreams of what could have been. This just makes a cycle of pain constantly feeding him in the dark side many times over.
Tali Sparta I think that maybe the pain that causes his dreams of forgone possibility is what allows Vader to never be completely submissive to the Darkside. The possibility of what could have been leaves enough light in him to not kill his son Luke. Instead when faced with a choice he killed Palpatine. This shows Vader never forgot his love of Padme and that entwined with the dreams was a weak sliver of humanity. Weak but there all the same, Vader has to relive the consequences of his actions over and over again. He is forced to remember and thus feel. Despite all his actions Vader was never completely devoted to the dark side. The dreams led to pity of what he did and deep regret. He finds a spark and his reclamation is found in having pity for Luke.

I feel like this is the reason Vader never could go back into the light. All the pain he endures fuels his dark side keeping him alive against all odds. Once he lets go of his hate and steps to the light, it would a painful if not impossible process to keep himself together and stay with the light. It makes me feel like he meant more when he said "There's nothing to stop me from dying now." at the end of return of the Jedi than just his suit being fried and damaged.
And that's why he died

I've always liked the idea of jacked vader. A guy with the kind of muscle that supported his fighting style rather than a skinny shit relying on his cybernetics entirely.
Bob Jenkins Yes. I’ve always thought anakin/Vader was miscast with Hayden Christensen; too young looking, too skinny, no gravitas at all, just a whiny kid. Utterly unbelievable that Vader goes from HC to the suited demon, with a much more sinister and imposing vocabulary and delivery. Takes me right out of the movie.

Muscular and strong, brash and arrogant, but genuinely a decent guy who's a little edgy from the shit he's been through and done.

Legends, canon, I don't even separate the two anymore. I couldn't care less what some big wig at Disney says did and didn't happen in an already fictional universe. Revan, Darth Krayt and many others will always be "canon" to me, no matter what Disney has to say about it.

Waheed Saeed I've thought about that before and decided that, imo, everything in legends is canon unless explicitly written otherwise. For example, Leia became a Jedi in Legends but not in canon. Or Jason Solo is now replaced with Kylo Ren. But even with that override I'm still going to read and love the those stories. I honestly believe Disney is going to pretty much abandon Revan, Krayt, ect and never do anything with those amazing characters they now own so the Mandolarian Wars and the Jedi Civil War might as well be canon, along with the rest of the Old Republic timeline.
I see now. I'd also like to see Reven and the others. One theory that I have is that Disney's said that they're going to make star wars movies 15 years after Ep 9 so my guess is that they could start a new trilogy during the old republic. If they keep making stand alone movies, its going to get stale eventually.
Waheed Saeed I would absolutely love an Old Republic era movie but I really feel like Disney is abandoning the Old Republic, probably because they feel like the Galactic Civil War era and after is more appealing to the fans. Imo, that's not true, the Old Republic era is my absolute favorite era, especially on the Empire side.
Please keep the Vader content coming. He's the best Sith in my opinion because of what he accomplished despite his limitations.

Please continue the Vader videos. I find the more vulnerable side of the character very interesting. He makes a lot more sense as a sad depressed and broken man than just some evil character in a permanent blind rage.

He wasn’t depressed and miserable, he was furious, in extreme pain and suffering and super angry, which are all very strong active feelings that made him so powerful.

Anakin/Vader is the most tragic character in all of Star Wars and this comic (which I believe is called The Ghost Prisim) is a great example of why.
We all can empathize with Vader in this way. I’m sure we all think about things we did in the past that we regret or that costed us a lot, and we like to reminisce about the days beforehand or wonder what life would have been like had we not messed up.
There’s a little bit of Darth Vader in all of us.

i mean the suits designed with the idea of vader always being tortured by it so he becomes more angery over time and anger equals power in the dark side so emperor might or might not have put some sand into it for good measure

this is one of your best videos you've made, and the beginning noticing of the colors and WHAM flip the page (i have the comics) and he's in pain and losing his mind, but hanging in there (pardon the pun on MY end now lol) cuz of his memories of her... and to see that he envisions how his life was SUPPOSED to go...it's just so goddamn sad....and adding that sad star wars tune at the end of the video, brilliant move, emphasizes the tragedy that IS Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker

I read some theory about that actually. Apparently, Anakin became so powerful, that even Palpatine himself was terrified about how dark and powerful Anakin had become. Yoda and Palpatine both tried to take him on, but they ended up dying by Anakin. He eventually went into the Senate Chambers, destroyed the pods, and declared himself Emperor of the Galaxy, with the Son ruling by his side. I don't remember where I read it, but I do remember those parts.
I never understood why he turned evil though. I would have thought that with this hindsight, he'd go on to kill Sidious and stay with the jedi to end the clone wars. After for filling the prophecy, he would be made a jedi master.

Waheed Saeed Because it was his destiny to do so, also to bring true balance to the Force he had to destroy also the Jedi, not only the Sith (as the Sith are a consequence of the Jedi's existence in the first place). Where there is Jedi, there will be Sith.
Really liked the video and seeing more of Anakin’s thought process and suit.
The reconnection of his limbs and how agonising that is reminds me of automail from Fullmetal. Except 4 times the pain since 4 limbs are being connected at once rather then just one at a time. Plus from the light show going on at 2.51mins in well I can easily picture the pain being worse, faulty wiring, more nerves connected, attached more harshly then necessary etc. etc.
Speaking of Anakin I’m curious about how long he recovered for after the operation and what did he do during the recovery process. Was he sent out to fight immediately, was there any down time? Did he get small missions at first that where close to the Empire or not. How long was his leash at first. Etc. I’ve always pictured him being active very soon after when hunting down the remaining Jedi but just how much time did he have to recover.
Actually how long did any of the Jedi have to recover during the Clone Wars from major injuries and after Anakin lost an arm. Everyone seems to either bounce back immediately with the injury glossed over or it’s made out to be a big deal. Not sure if you’ve made a video on healing for force users yet.
Overall really enjoying your Vader/Anakin videos and how you see him as a 3D character rather then a shallow 2D one. :)

This technique sounds familiar. I've seen characters on other shows also escape inwards into their minds while they were being severely tortured for days on end, simply so their mind doesn't break. It's a self-defense technique. Very interesting and it says a lot about what Vader goes through. By all means, make more of these! I love these psychological insights!

That doesn't mean I disliked any of them. I happen to love each and every movie, yes I even love the prequels, especially Phantom Menace. I don't let two small details (midi-chlorians and Jar Jar) ruin the whole ride for me like a whole bunch of people seem to do. Never understood how those two things sent people over the edge but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
