The BIGGEST Punching Fish I've EVER Seen!!! (Flipping HEAVY Cover)

- Every year @phytobedo and I go on an EPIC fishing trip. This year He caught what is the biggest punching fish I've ever seen flipping heavy cover - matted floating vegetation - with a big tungsten weight. Flipping mats is a process of getting your fishing lure like a soft plastic creature or craw bait through super thick and heavy cover into the canopy or hollow section where bass hide out for heat and cover during the spring. Using really stout long fishing rods and braided fishing line the fish react to the fast fall of the lure and the battle to get the fish out is insane! Probably one of my favorite ways to fish and one of the coolest techniques to catch bass in late winter and spring.

Awesome vid boys. What size hook/type are you running on the cricket? Also did you see the video of that 49 lb limit on rayburn during the Texas team trail. Wild. You and your boy, them two guys in Texas, and topwater Charlie are the only 3 such limits I've ever heard that big. My best 5 in Washington State went 34.7lbs. A far cry from 49.

I like the Bobby Barrack rod, for the $ can't beat it.
Those mats and the great fishing associated with them are why the FWC needs to stop the spraying. If I had to venture a guess I would bet those mats are no longer there.

Yup or even an 8-speed but you lose a little bit of power when you go up to that eight
@@mikeybalzz I have the new mgl cruado 70 and the 8 speed I struggle to wrench them out at times with clumps I’m thinking dropped down a gear ,,, the extra heavy can handle it but
@@callanfishing I think part of that though is that is a smaller real and is meant for throwing a little more finesse style baits if you want up to a 150 size in an 8-speed I think you'd feel like it was a little stronger

We fish the same lakes....I run a 24 volt ulterra....just power thru..and yea it gets loaded up but just part of fishing .....run it shallow thru the thick....and always have a push pole
