I fish tournaments every week, and I have only lost one fish in the last five years that wasn't due to being hooked bad. As an angler, it is your responsibility to learn how to save these fish. Ice is a must in 95+ degree weather.

Ned rigs, slack lining, jerkbaits, finesse presentations and barbed hooks are definitely a problem. Pulling fish out of the thermocline and putting them in hot live wells are a problem. They already have people following around the fisherman. Why not implement tactics to weigh and release the fish after catch immediately. Slack liners are assholes I catch so many bass with their front face literally ripped off because they feel a nibble and then set the hook like a dam catapult.

I've got one that's even better. Our Department of inland Fisheries is allowing smallmouth catch and kill tournament. Yup, a tournament that allows people to catch an unlimited amount of smallmouth bass, put them in a pale and go back to a boat launch and win prizes for turning the most dead bass.

30 years of tournaments have absolutely destroyed my local lakes.

We were up there Saturday and they had no respect for the average anglers. I couldve thrown something at a couple of them passing us so close. Guys about your age too. Not to mention the dead fish everywhere. We railed on them shallow and didnt have one dead fish bc we released them immediately after a quick picture.

Maybe stop catching bass out of 50 and 60 feet deep with live scope see it after every tournament on lake Lanier amd it sucks seeing these huge bass floating

Straight ice and a good aerorater is all you need. Keep your water cold a all times. A cap of hydrogen peroxide added to ice water will help oxygen levels stay up. You don't need to recirculate your water

remove any sort of livewell fishing... thats when they die. cant say Ive seen any dead fish in the 8 years of kayak tournaments I have been fishing doing CPR format. Any big boat event go hangout by the launch at the end and count all the dead fish it happens every single time
