I don’t know why mainlanders tourist or foreign can’t just show some aloha for the residents request for peace and quiet and for illegal hikers too just be Pono?🙄. Oh! and FYI a Kama’aina died die of a heart attack on the stairs besides the numerous rescues which up until a few yrs ago we Hawaiian tax payers pay for this fools to be saved! So now like CA Hawaii is sending folks a bill!
In August 2012, Don Tiki show singer and comedian Fritz Hasenpusch died of a heart attack during his Haʻikū Stair climb. In 2014, six people were arrested and 135 were cited for climbing the stairs. The City Prosecutors Office said that criminal trespass in the second degree carries a $1000 fine.
